A cosy and warm retreat that serves amazing food and a great selection of drinks. Fun bar games including pool and darts, along with a jukebox.

We are local and this is our go to restaurant/bar. The owners are kind and welcoming and the wait staff is stellar. The food is always delicious and one time I ordered something I ended up not liking and they brought me a free burger - there was NOTHING wrong with the food, just not to my taste. The bar is Adirondack vintage cool and has everything you could want for libations. Conversation is readily available and friendly. Great location for snowmobilers - right on the main trail through the region and lovely little camper cabins to take the night chill off.

If you're venturing towards the Adirondacks and find yourself cruising along Route 3, The Thirsty Moose is a must-visit spot for a truly local experience. This gem, run by a charming husband-and-wife team, epitomizes the warmth and hospitality of small-town America. On my recent visit, while the place was bustling with a lively snowmobile crew, the atmosphere was welcoming and vibrant.

The Thirsty Moose, true to its 'mom and pop' nature, offers a cozy, rustic ambiance that feels like a step back into a simpler time. Their menu, though I didn’t get to experience it fully due to the crowd, seemed to offer a variety of hearty, home-cooked meals - perfect for refueling after a day in the outdoors.

One thing to note for future visitors: this place can get quite popular, especially with local snowmobile enthusiasts. It’s a testament to its reputation in the community. If you're looking for a quieter experience, you might want to check ahead or choose a time outside of peak hours.

In conclusion, The Thirsty Moose is more than just a pit stop; it's a delightful slice of local culture, offering friendly service and a glimpse into the community spirit of the Adirondacks. I'm looking forward to a return visit where I can truly soak in the ambiance and enjoy what I'm sure is a fantastic culinary experience.

This was some of the most delicious food we had in all of the adirondacks. I would definitely recommend you check this place out. Staff was friendly, facilities were clean and service was quick. They clearly take pride in what they do.

When we arrived we were the only ones there but soon a few more parties came in. There was one waitress on duty and she was absolutely amazing. She was attentive to our needs, and answered all our questions.
The owner even came out to make sure everything was good and we had to say it was exceptional! With all of the closing of businesses in the area, the Thirsty Moose? Is worth the drive to Childwold

Always a must-stop place when I am in the area. Friendly and attentive staff and great ring swing game on the wall.

Finally stopped in and was super glad we did. Cool space, especially the half circle bar. Bartender/server was great. No draft beer but a good selection of bottles and cans. Food was solid. Can't wait to make it back

I don't write many reviews but I felt the need to review this place.

Let me start off by saying when my brother and I first stepped in it seemed like our kind of place, however.

When we first sat down we ordered a couple of beers and received those right away. It took us a few minutes to decide what we wanted which was just a couple of sandwiches, the waitress was right there when we were ready. This is where everything started going downhill.

After about 20 minutes the waitress came to us tous to apologize that they were running a little behind but it would only be a short while longer for our order. After close to an hour my brother felt that this was wayyy to long to wait for sandwiches and asked the waitress for our bill for the drinks and that we would be leaving. The waitress again told us it would only be a couple of more minutes at which point we said not thank you. While this was going on a gentleman came out of the kitchen and explained that they had some large orders and our order would be out shortly, to which we responded no thank you we will pay for the drinks and be leaving. At this point the conversation was getting very heated and said that we needed to pay for the meal anyway which we would not ever receieve as we were leaving, when we told him one more time that we would not pay he called my brother an a@@hole loudly right in the dining room in front of other patrons and that he was calling the police. While this was going the poor waitress was staying out of it until finally she told us what the drink were (i feel bad for her for being in the middle but I applaud her for her professionalism), we then paid that tab and left.

He kept using the excuse that he has some large meals that he was preparing but this was a couple of sandwiches, surely they could have squeezed them in in less than an hour.

Passing through upstate NY when we spotted this gem. Great couple of sandwiches, bonus conversation and we got to watch the beer fridge getting repaired. I recommend the Thirsty Moose Pub.
