Thompson Pond Preserve Parking Area reviews
4Great trail around the lake. Stay on the yellow and blue trails. The white/blue trail currently has a lot of downed trees and some of the trailer markers have been removed.
Lovely stroll through the woods when you want just that. Easy hike, low difficulty, beautiful scenery. A perfect low impact hike.
Really peaceful and wonderful place to take an easygoing 90minute hike for all ages around a peaceful pond. Perfect for forest bathing. Not challenging in terms of terrain, the trail has gentle rises and drops. There are some areas that flood on the east side of the pond, so wear waterproof shoes when the ground is wet.
This little gem of a pond is a special place, featured in a diaorama at the Natural History Museum in NYC. Never crowded. And it's a Bird Sanctuary, so dogs are not allowed. You will see some special birds.swans live in the area and are often at the lake, as well as herons and some migratory birds.
Very nice pond! I especially liked walking behind the farm and seeing where the Wappingers Creek begins!
