Pregnancy-wise, TLC Midwifery has represented the light at the end of the tunnel. Had I followed medical advice from the providers I had initially signed up with, our daughter would have been born at 37 weeks via C-section. Instead, she was born a healthy baby, with a healthy mom, at 42 weeks. From the minute I signed up with Yuen, she made sure she honored my wishes as much as possible, addressed my concerns, and thoroughly answered the million questions I had. The kind of patience, care, kindness, level of support and professionalism she brings in is far beyond what one typically expects from a medical provider. Although I had to make some difficult decisions at the end of my pregnancy, Yuen went above and beyond to make sure I had all the information I needed to make informed decisions and, most importantly, she and her team fully supported those decisions. When it turned out that a home birth was not possible for me - I ended up having a C-section because baby girl wouldn’t come out and she was breech - Yuen made sure the hospital transfer went smoothly. As soon as I got back home, she and her team (i.e, the amazing Talia) offered weekly home visits and helped with everything from managing surgery recovery, breastfeeding, to infant care. Overall, to us Yuen was much more than a midwife. She was a blessing, and we couldn’t have done it without her.

I've always known I would give birth at home (barring any unforeseen medical issues). Then life happened and I was 47 when I got pregnant with my first. I was worried that due to my age no midwife would take me on. I was only interested in an evidence based practitioner - I didn't want someone so ideologically driven that they wouldn't take me to the hospital if necessary. Then I found Yuen. She made it clear that we would transfer to the hospital at the appearance of any yellow flags and wouldn't wait for red flags. I had an absurd number of questions when interviewing Yuen to see if she would be a good match. She patiently answered every question in detail. I quickly knew I would be in excellent care with Yuen - and I was. After three nights and two days of labor in the comfort of my home with my friends and family, Yuen helped me deliver my daughter who joined us with just one push.

The best services even if you're not going through pregnancy. Yuen makes you feel so comfortable and makes herself available to answer any questions when you''re feeling uneasy or need something answered about your health.

My experience with TLC Midwifery services was wonderful. The care I received was warm and informative. They supported me in decision to try a VBAC and were with me step by step in my birth. I would most definitely use them again in my family planning. I loved every visit.

Working with Yuen and the lovely women of TLC was an incredible experience. I started with an OB, but I knew I wanted to experience the Midwifery model of care, so I switched to a hospital-based Midwifery practice. After doing that I quickly realized they were midwives practicing under the techno-medical model, and not practicing true Midwifery.

I then reached out to Yuen and TLC because I had met Yuen once many years ago and I never forgot her bedside manner and how safe I felt with her during that appointment. So in my 28th week or so, I officially switched to TLC and immediately felt a flood of relief. I was thrilled to start planning the home birth I always wanted.

The care and attention I received was unparalleled. My husband and I looked forward to every visit because we got to hang out with the other families in the homey “waiting room. ” Two days ago we welcomed our baby into the world with our peaceful home birth. I cannot thank Yuen, Lea, and Wendy enough for sharing that experience with me.

Chan performed my son’s circumcision. The care and attention to detail she exhibited was excellent! I look forward to utilizing her for some of the other services she offers:)

First homebirth, second child and from start the finish the experience was amazing. Yuen is responsive, committed and dedicated to her craft. She helped me deliver my daughter in the comfort of my home. Yuen and her team are fabulous and I could not have asked for a better home birth.

I knew from the jump that I wanted a midwife, and I’m beyond happy that I chose Yuen and her team to support me!

Aside from being very knowledgeable and experienced, Yuen is genuinely so kind and truly cares for her patients. She and her practice really get to know you and treat you like family. Anytime we went in for an appointment, we felt relaxed, warm and comfortable, far from the usual sterile, procedural, cold and impersonal environment and experience of a doctor’s office or hospital. Outside of appointments at her office, I was easily able to get support from her and her team through email and text with prompt responses.

During my 17 hour labor and delivery, I was so appreciative of Yuen and her assistant’s unwavering patience and amazing care. It was a long day, and Yuen had come straight from another delivery but that did not affect her commitment and level of attention to me and my baby.

Postpartum, Yuen’s visits were wonderful and welcomed, as if a close friend (who knows my pregnncy and baby on a detailed level!) was checking in on me. It was so nice not having to drive somewhere and hauling a newborn after giving birth to a doctor’s office. I also really appreciated the 4-week virtual support of live zoom calls for breastfeeding moms—even after birth I felt so supported in this entirely new experience!

Overall, Yuen and her team are the best! I really don’t know why anyone would NOT get a midwife and if you have to choose one, go with Yuen!

Amazing experience! I am so grateful for Yuen and her team! I used Yeun for my pregnancy when I was 6 months pregnant with my daughter. I had switched from my previous OBGYN due to a traumatic experience that left me feeling I needed to do something very different the next time around. A friend of mine recommended Yuen and we had our very first home birth with her. It was my first time having a birth at home unmedicated and all natural. It was something I felt deeply and strongly that I needed to do for my baby, myself and our family. Yuen and her team were more than knowledgeable, comforting, loving, helpful and took their time with us every visit. Yuen always gave me the reassurance I needed. Her nurse Talia was so helpful and always available whenever I had questions or concerns. Her staff at the office were always so friendly. Yuen also helped me learn how to latch my daughter and helped our breast feeding journey. I recommend to everyone a natural unmedicated home birth and this is the team to do it with!

We had an incredible home birth journey with Yuen (Midwife/OB) and Talia (Nurse). We are very lucky to have them to take care of us in the last 9 month.

Too many great things. I will just name a few:
- The whole team are very professional and passionate.
- Very cozy/home feeling office
- Super nice front desk lady to help us schedule.
- Talia, our nurse helped my wife deliver very successfully. She provided great emotional support and been very patient with us.
- It is nice Yuen will do home visit since 37 wk pregnancy, so you don't need to travel to office!
- After delivery, they help set up mommy support group and have weekly sharing and QA sessions.
- You can text Yuen for questions/concerns and she will help you! You don't get this kind of service if you go to normal OB office.

Bonus:
- Yuen speaks Mandarin! 煩惱找不到講中文的midwife的人有福了！

Last but not the least, we feel lots care and love from the whole team. Thanks god we were lucky to meet TLC midwife!

Super grateful for Yuen & the TLC Midwife team! We changed providers really late in the pregnancy because the midwife group we were going to was not very responsive and there were lots of issues with billing. It was such a relief that Yuen was able to take us and it was such a breath of fresh air to go to a practice where everyone is so caring and attentive to our needs and questions. Yuen and the team are always so responsive and helpful. Throughout pregnancy Yuen also regularly checked in which made me feel very supported and taken care of!

We were really appreciative of the convenience of having home visits during the last few weeks of my pregnancy when getting out of the house was much harder to do.

Even though TLC was out-of-network for us (as almost all home birth providers are), figuring out billing was not too bad as her billing team was very helpful in walking us through the process. Definitely worth it for the great care we received.

The postpartum help we've received has also been invaluable. They've been a wealth of resource and just a text away when we had questions about the baby, my recovery, as well as lactation consulting. There's also a breastfeeding support group for the first few weeks postpartum that was really great! As a first-time parent, once the baby comes it really feels like you're thrown into the deep end and having a team to guide us along in the first few weeks has been such a relief!

My birth experience was everything I hoped for and more. Would defintely recommend Yuen and the TLC Midwife team!

My husband and I first meet Yuen in 2017 during my fifth pregnancy. Yuen reassured me and my husband during every single prenatal visit, she respected each of our decisions and was an amazing midwife to us both. Five years later and Yuen has assisted us three more times as our midwife. We have had a total of four births with Yuen by our side.

I feel truly blessed to have come across this midwife and that she delivered my baby girl. She is so smart and knowledgeable and always stays calm, cool, and collected. She also just genuinely cares about the women and families that she works with. She makes you feel like you are her only patient.

She delivered my daughter when no one else would have. I had a c-section with my first pregnancy, and had a few medical problems along the way. She was always confident she could delivered this baby while keeping me and the baby safe. Yuen made my transition from an obgyn a seamless and reassuring one. I felt fully supported throughout my pregnancy and empowered on my delivery day to do what my body was meant to do.

I cannot begin to express how grateful I am for the women at TLC Midwifery. Yuen was super attentive and caring throughout my whole pregnancy and really went the extra mile when it came to my birth. I gave birth at home after having been in labour for 3 days Yuen and her team were the support that I needed and helped me deliver a beautiful baby girl. My recovery has been great and I truly believe that having had such an incredible team attributed greatly to my recovery. I remember saying to my doula an hour before I gave birth that I could never do this again but before the end of the week I had already changed my mind and said I was looking forward to doing it all over again. Everyone’s birthing experience is different but I will say if you can get a strong team it will greatly help.
