Tobey's Donut Shop reviews
17Stopped in for a breakfast sandwich before going to Watkins Glen State Park, and we had to go back the next day for more! The donuts were out of this world and the food and service were amazing.
This is a must if you are in the Watkins Glen area. We happened to find this little shop accidentally on our honeymoon. The donuts were some of the best I've ever had. Breakfast was good too, my husband and I got the Mexican omelet. They have sandwiches that you can get to go as well. We will definitely be back.
I am NOT typically a donut fan, however Tobey's makes the best donuts. They are usually busy so you have to try to get there early. Not a whole lot of room, but the staff is friendly, customers usually chit chat with each other & it's dog friendly. We stop on the weekend for donuts & coffee for breakfast before heading on over to kayak on Seneca lake!
During a recent trip to the Finger Lakes with friends for the first time, we finished an amazing get away visiting the region by stopping at Tobey's on the way out of town. When we first arrived to Watkins Glen we noticed a donut shop with a sign that said "Sold Out" and immediately said to each other, we have got to try that out as this had to be a good sign. We did not let long lines out the door deter us from trying what we assumed was amazing food that so many people were waiting for. After putting in our order for 2 breakfast sandwiches and 2 donuts, we waiting in very small crowded space for our sandwiches to be made. This was very chaotic and crammed as there was a great deal of confusion about who was in line to order vs.waiting for food vs.waiting to be seated. The layout of the place is very unorganized and needs a lot of help to avoid this mess. We were pushed from spot to spot in order to get out of the customers way as well as waitresses trying to get coffee from the coffee station and coming out of the kitchen for hot food. It would not have been a big deal making this work however after 25 minutes of waiting for two egg sandwiches, it made the experience a bit more painful. After over 30 minutes of waiting for our two breakfast sandwiches, we were handed a bag which included 1 sandwich. We attempted to make our way to the front to let them know we were missing a sandwich which was impossible to do due to the crowds of people ordering and waiting for their meals. Upon opening the one sandwich we had, we noticed that even after 30 minutes or waiting, our sandwich looked like a toddler made it as the english muffin was cold and not toasted and there were a few pieces of shredded cheese thrown on top that were cold and not melted. After trying to get someone's attention from the kitchen for a few more minutes, we decided to call it quits, count our losses, and move on down the road to Dunkin. I always like to support local businesses when traveling and not chains however in this case we will not be back and am a bit puzzled by the long lines and hype. This place needs some major help in management and product excellence. Look elsewhere for breakfast options when near Watkins Glen.
Great donuts! Very light, generous on the filling. Friendly staff. VERY beautiful outdoor patio area, lots of colourful flowers and furniture outside. Inside was classic diner.
This is good place for Breakfast They we're busy when we got there but found table right off We had Eggs and toast whole wheat very good And no stop water for tea a great selections
A gem in Watkins Glen! Only open for breakfast from 6a-12pm so go in the am. Great, tasty and simple breakfast options- eggs, sausage, corned beef hash, omelettes, breakfast sandwiches and toast. Donuts were amazing- light, fluffy and delicious. We had the bizmark (cinnamon roll) and glazed cream cheese donut which were both excellent. Service was excellent- staff were all very friendly, speedy and good with kids. Will def recommend to friends and visit again!
OMG.an absolute must if visiting Watkins Glen! Easily the best donuts I have ever had in my life.moist, tasty, delicious and I don't usually care too much about donuts. And.get a breakfast sammich! You will not be sorry.delicious! Highly recommend!
Reasonably priced, great food and outstanding donuts. We stopped here for breakfast and were not at all disappointed. Definitely would do this again and the donuts? They say these might be the best you've ever had. They were all of that.
Clean, friendly and it shows they have a lot of pride in doing what they do.
Excellent Doughnuts! Always fresh. Their breakfast meals are great as well. They are only open for Breakfast and Lunch but it is definitely worth it.
Walked in told chef sick but they sat two people In front of us! Prejudice dark skin people! A shame! I will pass this on to all! I watched others go in and get sat!
The breakfast was really good the prices even better the waitress was so friendly and fast was the only one at that moment but she does an awesome job definitely coming back
Best homemade donuts you can get in the Finger Lakes region. However, if you want any, you will need to get there early, as they often sell out of donuts before the end of the morning rush hour.
A simple breakfast place with freshly brewed coffee that tastes really really good. Like the name suggests, they do sell donuts and most of donuts gets over by 1030 am in the morning. There donuts are tasty, fluffy and very fresh, better than donuts from our usual chain brands.
Definitely try
1. French cream donut
2. Home fries
3. Coffee
Sometimes all you need is a simple breakfast with eggs and toast and they serve it quite well!
Tobey's is a "must-stop" for anybody visiting the area. The breakfast sandwich was delicious, the doughnuts were even better, and the service and staff were impeccable. Don't let any long lines fool you, as it moves quick and I promise it's worth the wait!
Cute little cafe and donut shop in a great location just off of Franklin St, which can get busy in the summer months. Very friendly and welcoming staff! Beautiful flowers arranged on the deck and we loved the outdoor seating option. Love that it is also pet-friendly! The food is delicious- the cinnamon buns and breakfast sandwiches were some of our favorites!
Got the Ol Mexican omlet, coffee and a huge donut. Omlet was perfect, meat was perfectly spiced. Donut was fresh and melted in your mouth?
