Tomi Jazz reviews
29Great underground jazz bar - you have to ring the doorbell outside to be let in. Went on a Sunday night and walked in at 6: 30, got seated at the bar and was served by a friendly and efficient bartender. Great happy hour deals, the food and drinks are very reasonably priced even without happy hour. Live jazz every night of the week, no cover from Sunday to Thursday, $10 all other times. Tips for the performers are appreciated (a tin goes around) and I do suggest tipping, as they are amazing! Can be small and crowded but the food, atmosphere, and music is absolutely worth it.
Awesome experience. Great jazz, nice sake list, friendly staff and most importantly: great live music.
This place is Japanese jazz bar. It locates at basement, so it was hard to find. Inside is really small and I felt a bit stuffy. However, the food is amazing. I ordered Japanese curry, cream pasta with fish roe, and maybe Potato Korokke; those food were nicer than I expected! However, the food is not enough for even one person. You should order several dish!
Incredible first time at Tomi Jazz. Great music and great drinks. We didn't eat but I'm sure the food is equally excellent. We'll definitely be returning. If you visit be sure to ring the doorbell as this tripped us up on how to get in at first lol.
Cozy place with a laid back vibe, love how close jazz musicians are with the audience. Was there for a drink, the house made plum wine was smooth and would go back again to try their dishes
This is the place for the best original Japanese street food. Okonomiyaki is the bomb. Great drinks and you can listen to cutting edge jazz. Hard to find, I'm not telling, and hard to get in to this small venue. Reservations mandatory.
I loved this place. Every day there is live jazz which gives the place a very nice and chill vibe to share with friends. The drink and cocktail selection is also very broad. Finally, the food here is fantastic. They have a Japanese curry over rice that blew everyone's minds when we went there. Tomi Jazz is one of NY's best hidden spots.
I absolutely lived this place. It's a speakeasy managed by Japanese people so the menu includes sushi, wide variety of Japanese whiskey, sake and regular cocktails and wine. Pleasant atmosphere, live jazz and staff were very friendly.
Loved speakeasy vibe of this place and live jazz. We were lucky to be seated right away without reservation on a Friday night.
The atmosphere is really cool, drinks are awesome, but as someone with celiac I couldn't really eat anything other than a plum rice ball and edamame. The menu is extensive and the options sound amazing as long as you don't have dietary restrictions.
This place is wonderful I don't want to give it a good ratings because want to keep it to ourselves.
Incredible bar with a great Japanese atmosphere. If you're into jazz music this is definitely a place you should stop by. Dim lights, excellent live jazz, food, drinks and a huge variety of sake make this bar unique. Gotta try all that sake!
Wanted to give 4.5 actually because food is a little on the salty side.
Everything else is perfect. Loved it!
Almost dont want to review this place online and make it popular, coz its SOOO perfect! Great selection of Japanese whiskeys. And the curry croquettes are yummm!
A friend of mines was done with a set. He said a friend of his was doing one let's go check it out we went to this place. It was nice and no stage it felt so personal. The staff was always very nice. Another person who came with us got drunk. He accused the staff of stealing his money. Only for me to look down and see it right under his seat. They were patient with the situation if it was me I would have kicked him out lol.
This traditional Japanese restaurant and bar feels like a speak easy. One has to go down a small flight of steps and ring a bell before being invited inside. Tomi Jazz is Tokyo in New York. Good ambiance, excellent dishes and an amazing list of sakes. The place features live jazz as a pleasant background setting.
Good music and good food. But the place is small, so is necessary make a reservation for take a good table.
Musicians playing the the background. Very dark room, a place to just chill. Food is good but not fancy.
Very soft lighting! Use your cell phone to read the menu! Amazing bartender! Amazing drinks! I had the American lemonade. Amazing music! Amazing food which comes fast! Try anything on the menu! Japanese seafood pound cake? Wow! Definitely MAKE RESERVATIONS!
Nice little jazz bar but SUPER rude staff. The decor is unique but impractical (small lamps make up the light the place). My friend got told off by the waiter for sitting on their vintage couch. Hipster, but RUDE. Not happy.
