UPDATE. After leaving the review he called and threatened me. Saying he had my address and demanded I take the review down.

AVOID. Unprofessional, extremely rude. They have no idea what they are doing.

Avoid. Very rude and incompetent. The way he talked to my wife was offensive and inappropriate. In the end we went to a different workshop nearby that even without an appointment they took care of our car professionally and politely.

I needed a car after my accident. Tommy got me a rental from enterprise and arranged for my insurance to cover it. He made a very stressful time easy.

I’m in NYC and borrowed a friend’s car to scout out locations for a sixtieth year elementary school reunion in Westchester. With a propensity to hit things on the right side of a car due to my amblyopia, I was extra careful, but not vigilant enough. On a narrow street in Pelham, I sideswiped a tree. The damage wasn’t catastrophic, but enough to cause me guilt and embarrassment.

Phoning an old camp friend in New Rochelle, I asked if he knew a good body shop, and he suggested Tommy’s of North Avenue. After calling and being told to bring the Mazda in, I drove over to North Avenue, in between Iona and the New Rochelle City Hall. Tommy himself came to speak with me. I explained it was a friend’s car, and I wanted to pay out of pocket. He was friendly and helpful, looking over the dent and scrapes carefully. After checking some things in his office, Tommy, a teddy bear with the body of a Grizzly, commiserated and quoted me a price like 60% less than I would pay in Seattle. I jumped all over it. Two days later the red Mazda was ready, no dent or scrape visible. It was perfect! I gave the car back to my friend, thanked him profusely while holding my breath. He never said a thing. The damage was invisible.

Perhaps I will tell my buddy about the accident a few years into the future, but for now, I don’t want him to know what a Mr. Magoo I am. I will always be indebted to Tommy’s North Avenue Auto Body.
