Topaz Thai Authentic reviews
18Had a wonderful New Years Eve dinner with my wife. Delicious Authentic Thai Food. Can't wait to go back!
It was extremely clean, friendly, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was calm and serene. Service was reliable and fast. The Chicken Pad Khing and Chicken Pad Thai were absolutely delicious.
Very small. Staff very accommodating. My salmon did not taste good at all. Vegetables and appetizers were delicious.
Definitely a hidden gem! The coco calamari was delicious, some of the best calamari I’ve ever had. Service moves quickly so you’ll be seated and served your meal before you can blink.
Topaz Thai is approaching it's 30th anniversary and has the feel and menu of another era of Thai food. The food is pretty good, not great and not contemporary, the choices and preparations are dated / cliché but tasty
The restaurant's interior is old school midtown, dimly lit, thick dark wooden paneling & sconce lights. Tables are squezed in so while it's old-fashioned charming, it is also claustrophobic, even for Manhattan.
The service is actually wonderful. The owner bustles around and keeps track of who needs to get out on time to see a show. She is extremely friendly and upbeat. There are wait staff every where clearing dishes and bringing food quickly.
The location is handy for certain venues; it's across the street from the rear of City Center and around the corner from Carnegie Hall. No doubt that comes with a steep rent which is reflected in the signicantly over priced menu.
As much as I appreciate the owner and staff I would recommend sticking to 9th Avenue in the 50s for Thai food. Multiple options there will supply equally or better and more contemporary dining experience at half the price (or less).
First off this place is the best so far for Thai food for me. The flavors are amazing and super mouth watering. The drunken noodles is a 10 out of 10. The pineapple fried rice is sooo good. The lychee cocktail is 10 out of 10 the best. The service is fast and efficient. Definitely go back here!
When you get there, you need to walk down stairs, slightly below street level; note the bottom last step is really short.
You get deep fried rice chips as a complimentary snack, its served with a small dish of peanut sauce. They have a full bar so these chips would go great with beer.
We started with the Chive Lover.yes it has a glorious chive flavor. I think its chive mochi that has been fried. 1 order is 4 cubes.crispy crust and soft center. Thumbs up for this appetizer.
The Beef Pad Thai was pretty good.beef was tender and the dish had a rich tamarind flavor. Sweet with just a bit of tartness. The noodles were soft and had good bit of bite.
The Royal Duck, I think was winning entrée. The duck was roasted and crispy. Most of it was boneless. The sauce is on the sweet side, but the good news is that it was not swimming in sauce. The thin egg noodles under the duck was cooked perfectly, I think it was better than the Pad Thai. The greens under the noodles were tender. Overall this dish was awesome and it deserves 5 stars all by itself.
The Massaman Curry with chicken was OK. The chicken was strips of white meat. The curry is suppose to contain peanuts, but I did not see any peanuts there. Please note that the chunks of potato were on the hard side. The sauce was a bit on the watery side, but very flavorful.
There is only 1 unisex bathroom available to customers. Unfortunately, I was unable to take a look at it.
The only thing that kept me from giving Topaz 5 stars was the service. They were attentive, but it seems like they were rushing to get out fast. There were open tables so I do not think was because of occupancy. Another thing was after I paid, the wait staff took the bill folio before I had a chance to pull out the bill and then he threw the bill away. This was part of why it felt so rushed.
Wow this is truly a top pick for Thai in NYC.
The dishes were first rate, and very authentic. I didn't even ask for extra spicy and the food was perfect.
The place was decorated with Christmas stuff, and it was very cute. There were little santa's, and else, and it was adorable.
Service was very good, all smiles and honest warmth.
My son quoted, "This place is a 10 out of 10 and I want to come back again! "
The order and the price don’t match. The order is too small and the price is too expensive. The most important thing is the food doesn’t taste good.
Good Tahi food! It's good taste and pretty authentic. It's a quiet little place, pretty good service as well
The food and service at Topaz was good. The staff is attentive, kind and continuously checked in to make sure that we were comfortable and to check-in which I appreciated. Good service and hospitality goes a long way so I was very impressed.
The decor is nice as well, it sort of felt like a Thai restaurant in a speakeasy to be honest! I’m curious to know which business was in the space prior to the restaurant.
My friend and I ordered the spring rolls, Thai dumplings, royal duck and swimming duck. Both of the duck dishes were a bit sweet but very tasty. The dumplings were probably the best Thai dumplings I’ve tried in the city thus far. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for lunch or date night.
This place was SO CLEAN, comfortable, and extremely inviting. Our waitress was so respectful and nice. The food was absolutely delicious. During Christmas, this place is decorated so nicely. Very cozy. LOVE IT!? ️️️
So, we did a pre show meal. From the staff to the appetizers to the dessert - this was hands down one of our best meals! We were fortunate enough to grab the cozy table for two tucked into the window which is perfect!
Staff: incredibly friendly
Food: presentation was beautiful but the flavors - blew my mind. We had the Dumplings, the Royal Duck, the Pla Rad Prix and the Thai Coconut pudding for dessert. They were incredible! The drinks? Please get the Lychee Martini - I usually don’t drink much but I had two because I couldn’t get enough of that flavor.
This place is now our new favorite restaurant in the city - we will definitely be back!
Best thing I ever ate in this restaurant.
If anyone goes here you HAVE to order "the drunken noodle" You will not be disappointed! Great value for money, great service, great atmosphere, great evening! I urge anyone that sees this review to go there! Although walk in only.
Cozy, friendly, and quick. A really great place to pop in and enjoy a meal after 8 pm. The green curry with shrimp is excellent.
Every time my office chooses to order food from this place, it is the same story- doesn't matter how many times you tell them to make sure it is MILD- meaning NO JALAPENOS PEPPERS OR ANYTHING ELSE THAT MAKES IT HOT AND IMPOSSIBLE TO EAT! Also they take over an hour to deliver 5 blocks!
However, every time I take more than 2 bites, it sets my mouth on fire and my throat starts closing up and the rest of the food ends up in the garbage.
Save your money and aggravation and just order some place else.
The food was good, the atmosphere is why you should go, not only are the vibes right for a wonderful hole in the wall spot but the food leaves you full but enough for a light desert. The coconut pudding is what stood out to me; it’s smooth and warm and it has a very u unique flavor ready to enjoy. Even if you don’t normally like coconut it’s worth a shot because of how savory and sweet it is, it goes hand in hand like a wonderful sonnet.
OMGGGGG the food is sooooo good! Especially the curry! (Coming from a Jamaican foodie) cute little restaurant great for a date!
