Trailhead Niagara Gorge Hiking Trail reviews
18Best hike in the Falls area. Careful of the water. It's amazing to see the raw power of the current mixed with the bright blue water, beautiful forest and rock shield.
Been night fishing here 20+ years, security guard and park police randomly told me "they have the right to govern the hours and don't want me down there" last night. "It's unsafe". Even though the trail is posted as "unsafe enter at own risk. " And there are no hours posted anywhere, period. Metered parking at the trailhead even says 24/7.
Gorgeous views on this hike, the trail was an easy walk and well worth the time for the scenery. Seeing the tall rock walls as we neared the water’s edge was breathtaking.
Wonderful location year round! Its quite rewarding to stand on the shores of the mighty Niagara River. Just make sure to lock your car when visiting any area in the Falls.
Great place to walk. You see the falls, the rapids and the calm river before and after. Lots of birds to see and hear and you can't beat the views. The downside is that there are some secluded sections that feel unsafe if you're walking alone.
It’s an easy hike. It’s very quiet compared to the falls area. When I hiked (September 2021), the trial was closed due to some landslide so I couldn’t hike all the way to the whirlpool.
Amazing views! You can get really close to Niagara Falls this way. There are some stairs to go down. There comes a point where there is an upper and lower trail. I took the lower but they both seem to have beautiful views. The lower trail is very narrow and potentially dangerous. There comes a point where you come to a building that has some concrete stairs. If you go past the building and a platform, the trail should continue. It is not marked though. There's a lot of debris down there.cars that have probably fell down there, amongst other things. Still pretty cool!
One of the best hikes I've ever done. The gorge is incredible and exploring it from the rivers edge is a must if you're able to.
Incredible views all along the Gorge trail! Reasonably maintained. Easy, free parking. Nearby the falls.
Pretty steep hike, up and down. Some of the natural stone steps are well over 1 ft. Sandals definately not recommended. Flip flops are very, very bad idea. Some segments of the narrow trails have potentially risky segments if you are not minding your footing. The trails are beautiful and safe if you observe signs and walk in the middle. What seems to be a tough hike is totally worth it, because you can spend a few hours at the bottom - the choppy niagra river gorge, speed boat, cable cars above. And the sound and the color of deep aquamarine water. All this incredible experience is free! Thank you NewYorkState!
Love it around Niagara falls. They have done an excellent job all around the path on the city side of the rapids need to be repaved to be a smoother surface though. It's quite a bumpy ride.
My favourite trail in Niagara Falls. A great fun walk with interesting things to see and enough of a challenge to get some good exercise. The best part of all is the old power station near the end, although sadly a lot different after the work to add boat dock.
Beautiful area and a challenging hike, but well worth it. We met a young Park Ranger along the way and he was wonderful. I fail to remember his name but he was there working on Thursday 7/15. He was pleasant, helpful and informative. He even gave us a bottle of water since we had run out.
The town is all run down an a tourist trap everything is extremely over priced. Visited last weekend an almost ran off the road by some guy high out of his mind. If your looking for food drive out of town for something decent. The view was nice but the Canada side was so much better
Always a good time. You can walk on the trail at the top of the gorge and take it easy with great sights or you can take the steps down towards the water for a few different trails that range in difficulty. Bring water and watch your footing.
Nice paved path for walking or biking with scenic places to stop. I just wish that there were trail and mileage markers.
Great place to go hiking with friends. Definitely bring a jacket though because it is windy and there are places with water on the trail so bring comfy shoes you dont mind getting a little muddy.
Beautiful hike with great views. The trial was pretty uneven and had a lot of stairs. We had 2 dogs and they found the metal stairs at the beginning and end of the hike difficult. We had to carry them down and up. Once they were on the trail they were fine with the uneven ground and stairs.
