Tuscan Hills reviews
13To be fair it was Mother's day, so the service was slow! Ran out of one of the popular dish which was very disappointing.
This is my "go to" neighborhood Italian restaurant. Whether I'm in the mood for pizza or a fancy dish, they have it all. Genuinely friendly team makes it a very comfortable experience.
Had the rib eye special with home made mashed potatoes.stuffed zucchini hearts
Delighted
Our cappuccinos were hot creamy and tasty.
Tues is byob we brought a white wine.waiter offered us an ice bucket.yes we'd return.
Good food, nice friendly staff, it just took to long for our food to come out when it wasn’t busy.
Recently had lunch with a friend at this marvelous establishment. If you want Italian regional food, this is the place to go. However you will be doing yourself a disservice if you don't order at least one of the specials. My friend and I ordered two special dishes that were out of this world and demonstrative of the creativity of the two brothers from Abruzzo who run this fine place. Here goes:
Spaghetti Chitarra Fiaccheraio: This dish is a blend of the Abruzzo flat spaghetti noodle with a sauce that emanates from Florence. Fiaccheraio is the word for coachman which harkens back to the public transportation system in Florence. The coachmen were a feisty sort and hence the sauce that adorns the Chitarra at Tuscan Hills is slightly spiked with red pepper. The sauce is also infused with sausage and peas to counter balance the slight elevation of the pepper. Striking and enchanting!
Faggotini & Formaggio: In Italian faggotini means bundles, hence this dish contains small pasta bundles filled with pears and mascarpone cheese. The sauce that adorns the small pasta bundles is a parmesan cream sauce containing prosciutto and peas that is to die for.
My friend and I finished our respective plates by carrying on the Italian tradition of wiping up and eating every drop of sauce with the delicious locally sourced Italian bread. The plates went back to the kitchen almost as clean as they came out.
Speaking of locally sourced, the Italian dessert cakes are delivered from a local bakery in Queens and are as delicious and distinctly regional as the main dishes. So also treat yourself to some espresso and dessert to fully savor the experience at Tuscan Hills.
This has been our go-to for about 4 years now. The food is exceptionally consistent. We became friends with the owner Roberto. He’s very family oriented and loves to see his customers enjoy his food. We always order these delicious items: Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad, Margherita Pizza, Rigatoni a la Vodka and My most favorite dish there is the Pasticcio De Pasta…. Roberto has perfected this signature dish and when we told him about it, he said that it’s his personal creation and we wouldn’t be able to find it at any other Italian restaurant. He’s right cuz no matter where we have gone, this is never on any menu. Tuscan Hills gives a very warm feeling of comfort and tradition. It makes you feel like you’re in Tuscany even though I haven’t experienced it yet but I will later this summer. Thank you Roberto for establishing such a unique Tuscan culinary experience. See you soon!
I ate the seafood risotto, and it was delish. My husband ordered the grilled red smaller with roasted potatoes. Both meals were delish
Simple Italian spot, not too crowded, attentive service. Tried their prefix lunch - was definitely worth the price.
Recently had late lunch at this restaurant with a friend. We had their $14.95 prix fixe which comes with an entree, drink and salad (or soup). The location was nearly empty, with a lot of available seating. Tables and floors were clean. The tables were neatly presented. We were able to place our orders within a few minutes of sitting down. My order arrived hot. The ziti with Beef was delicious. The Caesar salad tasted fresh and crisp. Our server was friendly and efficient.
We hosted a baby shower there on a weekend day, with 47 guests.
Used parking garages on westbound side of queens blvd. Subway station located 1/2 block away on both sides of eatery, LIRR Forest Hills station within walking distance. Street parking is tough in this area. The gent we worked with, Roberto, was eager to work with, and a gentleman in every way. Molto Grazie, Roberto.
Fantastic food and service. Small enough to be intimate, immaculately clean. If you're craving Italian food in Forest Hills Tuscan Hills is the place to go.
Our office ordered catering from Tuscan Hills, each time was a delight. Thank you Marco for all of your help!
Normally I love this place- but I ordered delivery from them via Uber Eats tonight and when given the option of “homemade pasta” for my favorite Rigatoni alla Norma dish, I assumed that it was homemade version of the same rigatoni pasta that is literally in the name of the dish, since it did not state anywhere that the homemade pasta was actually Fettuccine. I’m very annoyed as I paid extra money for a type of pasta that I do not enjoy and was not expecting and changes the dish.
