Worst dental school! The dental admissions committee at UB has demonstrated favoritism towards wealthy students numerous times and their class clearly lacks diversity. This has been evident in their selection choices and despite complaints it still remains in action. They clearly don't value students with demonstrated passion for research and a career in dentistry. If I were you, I would choose a much better school. Afterall, who wants to dig their grave in this ungrateful place? Send your kids elsewhere, they will thank you later.

After many many hours trying to get some crowns done here because I couldn’t afford them at the regular dentist, 4 years later and still no crowns. They have routinely lined me up for other fillings each appointment for their assignments and test. They have totally messed up a few of my fillings. I have had about 4 differnt students and none of them were a problem until the last one. She messed my mouth up so bad. She was extremely upset and a wreck the entire time and it took about 5 hours for one filling. I explained to the head of the program I have been with them for years now and I would really be more comfortable having a different student do 4 crowns I was gona have to pay 1200 for. Dr G refused and said he thought she was ok to proceed forward even after she had already really hurt and messed me up. I felt used and completely disregarded. If a patient isn’t comfortable, and hasn’t complained before about anyone in 4 years you would think they would consider the patient. But not ub dental. Also when I finally went to a regular dentist they told me I don’t need any of the 4 crowns that ub recommended. So they people will just drill and drill and drill away at your mouth, convince you that you have problems, to make you waste your time, waste your money all so they can get “their schooling” done. I thought dentist also took an oath to take care of the patients needs but clearly I’m wrong.

If I could give them ZERO stars I would. Mr. Cantos was very rude. He was having a discussion with one of his students and he was basically like " I dont understand why kids now a days get piercings and tattoos it's ridiculous.blah blah blah" I felt judged and uncomfortable and they were having the conversation while I was sitting right there! I think that is unacceptable and I did not feel welcomed here at all. I remember coming here as a kid during one of the smile days at my school and got my tooth messed up and I ended up having to go to several dentist after that to get it fixed. I'm still having issues with the tooth to this day! Please just go somewhere else. Don't waste your money. 75$ to be seen and not even get the cleaning done the same day? I had to take time off of work for this! The x ray tech wasn't that friendly either when it came down to getting x-rays and me having piercings. I have never had to take them out to get ANY dental x-rays done and they gave me attitude once again making me feel judged for them.so yeah I will not be returning to this place. I would rather pay 250$ to get the cleaning x-rays and all that stuff done the same day and not have to wait months to come back in. I submitted my application via mail during the spring/summer time and i literally heard nothing from them I had to call to even be put on the schedule! UNACCEPTABLE. Mr.cantos needs to be put in his place because I was very uncomfortable being talked about like I was a nobody. Save your coins folks:)

The absolute WORST decision you could ever make is to go here.they are HORRIBLE! They have damaged both me and my grandmother's teeth mire than they ever helped.they litterally distorted my tooth due to negligence of have NO dr checking the work to where the student drilled 2x the depth Noth once nit twice not even 3 times but 4 times! Save yourself and go anywhere else.if I could give 0 stars I would

I swore I left a review from my first experience here! Anyway- wanted to update with my most recent visit. I had an emergency visit back in 9/2020 that was AWESOME.despite covid rules they had and the fact i wasn't an active patient they saw me and took care of me.in effect allowing me to address my dental phobia that i'd had for over 15 years.i filled out the forms to become a patient and waited.not hearing back but figured the waitlist for such a great service would take a long time.the other day i started having terrible pain in my mouth.exhausting other options i called to see what could be done despite not being a patient and mentioned my application.they were so accommodating! They said there was no way the wait would be nearly 2 years and saw my previous visit in the system and took me at my word.they got me in the next business day where staff assessed the situation which resulted in extraction being best option. EVERYONE WAS AMAZING! From those on the third floor to those down in oral surgery it was as awesome as losing a sort of visible tooth could be! Also when i spoke on the phone the previous day they made sure i was in the system and got an appointment for the first day the school returned to regular session for a screening and moving forward on my other work (i have a ton of issues due to a longterm med causing dry mouth.)

I recommend UB to everyone who will listen to me. They have great care, you see so many people so despite it being a "school" you actually get more screening than a private practice, as well as current technology and treatment measures, not a dentist whose been doing it 30 years and comfortable in their old ways. Also, they're realists and won't try to sell you a root canal on everything, something I've seen done to friends and family on teeth that are beyond the pale and result in thousands of dollars of needless treatment that is ultimately pulled in months. They will tell you your options and whether you can try to save something but not pressure you either or make you feel bad if you're just "i want relief now. " Seriously, I love these people.

Don't bother staff backs ignorant employees, use COVID as an excuse to not do thier job, they don't care about patients (ub dental program not actual school)

Have called multiple times & still have not received a call back.does not make me feel good about going for surgery if they cant even be bothered to return phone calls with questions about the surgery.understanding short staffing is a problem, but after a certain about of times with the "call center" not being able to help it gets frustrating, makes me wonder if calls are even being relayed or theyre just not a priority.how can someone be sure theyll be taken care of post op.

UB School Dentistry thinks we live in 1965 era instead of 2022. I had some work done on a tooth and around the tooth in questioning. Was experiencing some pain and when given an x-ray was told I needed a root canal or pull the tooth. Due to a past bad experience I wanted to get a second opinion- in which was told I absolutely didn’t need one. In the meanwhile I was getting calls 2x a week from students trying to make an appointment for me to do the root canal. I reached out to my student dentist and explained we could address this issue later and wasn’t having anymore pain. Well, On February 2nd I received a voicemail from Julie. I called her back the next day and she was the nastiest and rudest person I have spoken to in a long time. She refused to make me an appointment since she told me that I would have to get my tooth pulled or do the root canal. I requested to speak with her supervisor Sarah I have left 4 voicemails for her and still haven’t received a call back as of today. I reached out to a Diane who did call me back over the weekend. Diane goes to say well it is the opinion of our staff that you get a root canal I told Diane opinions are like “a-wholes” and we all have them. Then I was told I should not be getting outside opinions on my teeth. The following week I received a letter telling me I was being dismissed by the program and then the letter had the audacity to say I was let go before in September 2020 now mind you I was just seeking information for braces my choice and because I wouldn’t allow UB to do the work they have dismissed me. Remember these services are not free to me. Change your policy and check that nasty Julie.

Even if you’re trying to save money it’s not worth the experience! I understand they’re students, but you just go to these 3 hr visits for everyone to give you misinformation. I had work done on multiple occasions and each time the treatment plan would change which would somehow add to the cost to the point where I’ve literally paid for my braces (which haven’t been put on yet) and they still won’t clear me for them because of all the additional dental work they believe they need to do. They won’t refund my money and also said that because I’ve taken longer than the time limit to complete my dental work (which they keep adding and scheduling), I have to repay foe the braces when the time comes because they’re going to need all new X-rays and such. Not sure why they’d let me pay if they were going to continue not to clear me based on a treatment plan they created.

Started coming here, because my son decided he wanted braces. I thought you needed to be a patient at the Dental clinic in order to get braces from the university. Which is not the case at all. You can receive dental care from else where and still come to the university for braces or invisaligners. They don't accept most insurances he at the dental clinic. With my insurance I have to get the bill in the mail, then call the insurance company myself to get reimbursed. As far as for the braces or invisaligners NO insurance is accepted! You would have to do a payment plan. I came to the UB of medicine for the price of the braces. They are cheaper than going else where even with insurance. A little FYI parking is free, you have to go in and get a parking pass. There are 3 different lots you could park in. The parking alot right next to the Squire Hall which is the building the dental offices are is always busy.

I went to three three-hour visits of only checking my teeth and asking me questions. On the third visit, I felt physically uncomfortable when they checked my gums. I asked to stop. The supervisor told me they had to continue. Checking gums did not have anything to do with the work I needed to be done. The supervisor also told me that they had to fix three small cavities, ones that didn’t show up on the x-ray. If cavities are small, the standard practice is to wait and see to avoid unnecessary dental work. I said I didn’t want that done, and the supervisor told me I had no choice while talking down to me. I was shocked. I got up and left. I felt forced to accept dental work I did not medically need to be done. I was treated poorly and wasted 9 hours of my life.

I honestly put this appointment off until I absolutely had to go because I have major anxiety after a horrific experience at a different dental facility. Because I had a cracked wisdom tooth and needed an emergency appointment, my regular dentist referred me to UB. I shook like a leaf the entire time, but they were the kindest people, and treated me with utmost professionalism. I felt comfortable in their care. Ethan, the one who performed the extraction was very good. I was expecting to have more than Novocain for a wisdom tooth extraction, especially with my nerves, but I understand that this is a school, and that at times means choosing to not have the luxuries of comforts that a regular dental office would provide. My only critique is when I voiced pain, they asked “just pressure though, right? That’s perfectly normal, you’re doing great. ” I said no, pain…like it’s SORE. They said it was normal, but I was surprised to feel that much pain even with Novocain. I also was pretty surprised they didn’t give ANYTHING for pain. I wasn’t looking for a narcotic, but arriving in pain and leaving in pain was slightly disappointing. Having taken some OTC meds at home now, the edge is taken off and I’m starting to feel better. I think it’s important to remember they do everything they can, but at the end of the day, they can’t help the fact that pulling a wisdom tooth is uncomfortable. I will absolutely be back as a regular patient. Super impressed with my care overall, and a thank you to everyone involved. I know severe anxiety is a difficult thing to deal with, and I appreciate the fact that they calmed my nerves enough that I will return and continue improving my smile. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

There was a guy in there coughing up a lung with no mask on. Sounded like he had covid, they didn't even screen him because I overheard them talking and they said another patient complained, but they kept him there anyway instead of sending him home. I had my mouth open when my dental work was being done. I don't like how they have an open office set up with patients all in one open floor. Why can't we get our own rooms? Why can't we get a partition? This is an infectious disaster waiting to happen. The students will be fine because they have masks and face shields, but now I am worried now about getting covid from that sick man. Thanks UB

So far it's great. I've only had my 1sr appointment. It went great. Ins covered the $70 for the 18 old school x-rays. My cost for the appointment is $5.00. Not sure why the $5 is being charged. I don't care. I was there 2 hours. I'm never in a rush. I'm interested in how things run and work so I was happy to sit there. The student I had did explain some things. She examined me. A Dr/Dentist took a quick look then spoke with me. No problems at all. I feel like I'm in good hands. I don't go into a place looking to certify the bad reviews I read online. I'm looking for a great experience and so far it's great. They will most likely do some work next appointment. I'm guessing they will call me? Not sure when.
