Booked an appointment to get an all over color and to cover up my highlights. Got there, sat in chair then was told they were out of stock of the color dye I needed. I’ve never been to a salon where they accept an appointment and then don’t have the dye. I’m glad that happened tho because I would not want a place like this touching my hair! So ghetto!

Wish rare beauty and some other brands would come to ulta. They are far superior with their point system! If you return something, you get points back at Ulta. Sephora can NOT say the same. I LOVE SKIN CARE AND MAKEUP! Ulta is my fav!

I've lived in the Syracuse area for 3 years and have STRUGGLED to find someone to cut my thick wavy/curly hair. I went to see Jericka and brought my kiddo along who wanted a more alt edgy cut. She was AWESOME. She listened to what I wanted, offered great advice, was super friendly.
Got my layers just right for my curl pattern and killed it on my kiddos straight thick hair.
If you've been looking for an awesome stylist make an appointment with Jericka and you won't be disappointed.

Went for relaxer touch up
She Didn't know it was a sensitive brand relaxer until after she put it in my hair. Did not comb through the new growth
After about 15mins parted my hair n said why isn't this getting straight. I said u didn't comb it through the new growth. She said i never did that with my hair
Went to wash my hair n said y isn't this straight. Put more relaxer in my hair when it was wet. Hair not straight, u don't have to pay. Offered new perm in 2 wks. I said that's to soon to
re touch
I made appointment for 3 wks later knowing that I would never come back to Ulta
And the breakage in my hair is ridiculous
Now what do I do

I went in to the store to get some shampoo and conditioners and was looking for help no ine would wait on me 2 employees just stood there and looked me up and down I walked around waiting for someone to ask me If I needed help never happened also went over to the salon to ask about getting my hair done no one greeted me so I just left

Not always happy with there promos. Too many restrictions.
O no just got home and found that nice clerk got me the wrong replacement product. Similar box different product. 20 minute trip back to store.

The only reason I shop here is because the most fantastic stylist in Upstate NY works here - if you want your hair styled, permed, colored, cut - Sharon V.is the only person you need! I have known her for 30+yrs as my stylist - I will, like so many others, follow her anywhere!

I booked an appointment for my daughter and I to get new, fresh cuts and coloring since she is starting high school in a new district this year. I and asked about pricing when I called so I would have idea of what to expect (see below for more about this). We brought pictures.

I showed the pics and explained what I wanted to my stylist, and although she did try to clarify, it was like she wasn’t hearing what I was asking for, and my hair came out “ok. ” I paid for both of us when I was done and waited another 2 1/2 hours for my daughter.

My daughter, however, was a disaster. Even though she showed her stylist a picture of EXACTLY what she wanted, where the entire head was dark (her natural color) with pink-toned chunky highlights around the bottom (like Ombré), the stylist bleached highlights on her entire head. I couldn’t see what was happening as I was on the other side of the mirrors, but heard the stylist repeatedly say “you want the pink very subtle, and your hair dark on top? ” so I can’t figure out why she lifted/bleached her entire head.

Her hair was a bright yellow when the foil came off, and when the stylist applied the pink, it turned bright orange. The stylist did “apply a toner” to the top in an attempt to “bring it closer to her natural color” but it only made the hair a coral color. After 5 hours my daughter was miserable, it was clear this stylist was t going to be able to remedy this, and the stylist had left her next client in root foils for over an hour at that point. I can’t believe that turned out well either. My daughter was in tears and begged me not to make an issue as we left.

She has a very dark complexion and cannot pull off being a redhead. If she had asked for a pink-toned auburn hair color. It would have been lovely. This wasn’t even close to what she wanted (pics attached)

I called the next day and the salon manager wasn’t interested in me allowing them the chance to fix it, and offered a refund for my daughter’s hair instead.
Although I am glad I got a refund of $260 (just for her botched hair), my daughter’s hair was fried from the bleaching. It cost me almost $400 to go to an expert colorist to fix it, and she will now need touch ups regularly until her hair grows out.

Pricing: I was charged almost $500 for both of us. When I called to schedule, I told them we didn’t know what we wanted but we would bring photos as it was 3 weeks in advance, and they quoted me about $175 each if we did “full highlights, ” which neither of ending up wanting. That is, however, what they did to both of us EVEN THOUGH we showed photos that clearly weren’t full highlights. What they didn’t tell me was that there’s an up charge for “expert stylists” (I’d argue neither were) and the cut isn’t included in the coloring charge. It’s also $10 extra if you want a style with the curling/straightening iron EVEN WITH A HAIRCUT, which I’ve never heard of.

I would not recommend Ulta in Fairmount’s salon services unless you have a simple cut/color and are prepared to be way overcharged for a mediocre job.

I normally do not shop at this location but had placed an online order on Sunday. After an hour had passed, I went ahead and came in to check on the progress of my order since it was a single item. I was “helped” by who I assume is one of the managers there who when I asked if they had seen my order, stated in a snarky tone “so I can’t help you with that but one of these ladies can. ” As a previous Ulta employee, I know Sundays are slow, I was there midday, and there was not a single person in that store so often times RTVs and operational tasks are processed but she was standing around and more than able to do so. Based off of previous reviews, I don’t recommend dealing with this older associate as she doesn’t have the capacity of managing a store properly or processing an order. A younger girl ended up finishing up my order and had such a pleasant attitude.
