Umbertos Clam House reviews
14Part of New York mafia history although the "hit" actually occurred at another location not here. Great service from waitress. However, the food was not that great, brought out very quickly and I assume it was "pre-cooked. "
Hi Umbertos! I want you to know what the owner next for to you said. Someone ate at LA Nonnas restaurant (next door) and gave them a bad review. The owner of that restaurant (next door) actually put it on you! They blamed you for their bad review. It had nothing to do with you but he blamed you! TOTALLY DISGUSTING. Totally unacceptable. PLEASE SEE ALL THE BAD REVIEWS THAT THE OWNER AT LA NONNA BLAMES YOU FOR WHEN IT IS NOT YOU BUT IT IS LA NONNA THAT IS THE PROBLEM. SHAME ON LA NONNA!
The host was friendly and not pushy. The wait staff was personable yet professional. The food was amazing. I got the fettuccine carbonara and I dream about it! My only tiny little complaint was that most of the outdoor seating at other restaurants offers shade and this was just clear plastic so the sun was beating down on us. It was only the beginning of May so I can't imagine it's going to get any cooler as the summer goes on. The prosecco was delicious. The interior of the restaurant was clean and had a nice atmosphere. Bathroom was clean. Would definitely eat there again many times.
Every thing here is perfect. The service is great, the food is great, and the atmosphere is amazing. All the food tastes fresh and well prepared. The employees have a good attitude and always take care of your needs at the restaurant. I’d recommend the burrata and the margarita pizza. Also ask for the biscuits and gravy they aren’t on the menu but they always bring out 4-5 delicious biscuits. I would definitely recommend visiting this restaurant if you are in the New York area.
I'm a big fan of clam pizza. It's not easy to find so I was pleasantly surprised when I saw they had it in the menu. Dough was thin and crispy and clam topping with the cheese and garlic was really good. Four slices is good to share with two people. Had it with a Peroni beer and stayed for the espresso and homemade tiramisu.
Was pretty good. Kids loved the pizza but the baked clams were just so so as was the white clam sauce.
Def not the same as in the old days in the bigger location. Seems ownership/management changed. Doesn’t seem Italian (authentic) anymore
A hidden gem!
The food is amazing
I have been to Noma and I am not saying that these guys are on the same level (or that they should be), but these guys can cook pasta with seafood the way it should be done!
Keep up the good work (and food)
Friendly service & good food. We had a group of four during a Monday afternoon so it wasn’t busy inside - we chose inside instead of outside seating since it was a little chilly. Our server was helpful & friendly. Everyone enjoyed their food, we ordered Chicken Marsala, Linguine with Clam Sauce (no shells), and Spaghetti with meatballs, with an appetizer of bruschetta. It all tasted good and it was a nice break from the outside with a clean restroom.
Some the biggest mussels I've ever had. The veal piccatta was superb! Service was great! For sure going back!
Very authentic Italian food, nice environment. Very good experience. Definitely will visit again.
Incredible piece of American history with even more incredible food and service. Umbertos is a must, otherwise you’ve truly never done Little Italy.
I’ve been going to Umberto’s for over 45 years and make sure to get there whenever I’m in NYC
Great baked clams, and the best red sauce outside of Italy
