Recently had carpal tunnel surgery on both hands 4 weeks apart. Dr. Ali Mansour performed both my surgeries and I highly recommend him. He suggested the surgery and I am so glad he did. I no longer have the pain I had been experiencing. I appreciate him and all the nurses who cared for me and highly, highly recommend St. James Hospital.

Took my husband there in an emergency situation. He was able to get in right away and we had the great experience under the circumstances. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff on duty

Worst hospital in the state been there numerous times coughing up blood and chest pain no work up as I sat in the waiting room over 5 hours
In agony with chest pain no one came out to see if I was alright even some of the people who work there told me to go to a different facility because of the way I was being treated and this happens every time I go there extremely unprofessional staff and doctors

I had to bring my brother here to the ER. Everyone was great from the reception desk, to triage, and the ER staff! Admission was a bit lengthy but understandable. I'm sorry that I can't remember each and everyone who helped us by name, but I do remember our triage nurse Max, who was so kind, supportive, and knowledgeable.
My brother was moved to the 2nd floor and everyone there has been good to him as well.
I appreciate also, the case manager Holly, who has been a huge help and I feel she is a great asset to the UR health team!
Thank you

Went in for UTI. Was discharged after 2 hours and told all tests were negative. Did a test at home that shows positive so called for a response. Was told "we are confident with our test results. " They weren't even willing to check to verify their results. They just told me to take Tylenol and they would send a lab out for STDs.

Had to go to the ER 2 times this week for different things. First day there was a short wait in the waiting room but once I got to the er room I sat there for 6 hours. The ultrasound tech was very nice, the nurses who put my IV in and took it out were very nice but didn't even see a Dr. Everyone else I saw was very short with me. My call button slid to the floor and I didn't know it hit the call button. What I do know is that it took them 45 minutes to check on me after it had been ringing that long. Needless to say I left there without any answers as to what is going on. My 2nd trip this week i sat in the waiting room for 3 hours and was taken to a stretcher in the hall. We passed several empty rooms and I was put in a hall where I couldn't see anyone. I ended up taking care of what I needed while in the waiting room and told them I just needed an antibiotic. After 30 minutes in the hall a nurse came over barely glanced at it and went to write a script which took another 30 minutes to get. 4 hours to literally have a nurse spend 30 seconds and write a script.im saddened to see how many people have left 1 start reviews and almost all saying the same exact thing. Come on st. James do better.

They tell you have to wear mask. It not right if not sick should not have too. No other place have you wear them.

Even with a new waste of money building the care is still as awful as usual! St. James is just a bandaid station and are not staffed well enough to treat their patients. All they want to do is ship the patient to strong even for minor issues. Doctor says I could do that here but I have no one to read scans or do this or that. We must transfer your care over an hour away. Can't understand why we spent all this money for a new state of the art facility that Can't actually care for their patients. Should have used that money to upgrade old facility that could take patients.

I hope your emergency is not life threatening! I went into the emergency room after constantly vomiting stomach bile, in horrible abdominal pain and not able to keep anything down in 12 hours. Upon arriving, I waited over an hour, sweating profusely, still vomiting in their bathroom, freezing and about to pass out from severe dehydration. I watched as 2 couples came in an hour after I had been sitting there in agony, both of which seemed to be doing far better than myself AND BOTH went in within 3 minutes of giving the front desk their names! Meanwhile, I’m in so much physical pain I am crying and laying across the chairs. There was a mother who had been waiting there since 7: 30 am (it was around 2: 30 pm) with her 10 year old son (who was there for a serious head injury mind you) and another couple whom also had been there for several hours. And we all watched as this ridiculous staff sent multiple people who had just arrived back to the ER in front of us. So I know I am NOT the only one who is complaining about this AMORAL STAFF! I ended up having to go to another hospital after leaving their emergency room. That in and of itself is enough to make me ALWAYS recommend against the hospital in Hornell. That’s why their rating is so low on Google. I have had yet to have a good experience there, but today’s experience is truly the last straw. There is something to be said about the power of word of mouth. If you have a life threatening condition, drive to the next town because there are no EMERGENCIES at the Hornell UofR Emergency room.

A few years ago I would have gone to a Vet for treatment rather than to St James Hospital. Back then, the nursing staff were rude, indifferent to patients, more concerned about their social lives and apparently thought their jobs finished when they shoved you in a room. I wont comment on the doctors as I do not feel like being litigated against.

Now, this year, I have had cause to go to St James for three different issues - one was a heart attack or two, broken ribs and today broken teeth. Yes, you had to wait a little but it is an ER so one should expect that. The staff; however, were excellent from go to whoa!

The triage nurses actually gave the impression they cared about you as a patient, as did the other nursing staff and the doctors were ACTUAL doctors not the wanna bees they used to pass of as doctors.

I honestly do not have a bad word against St James at the moment and it is good to know that I can go to a hospital (ER), be treated like a person and one with needs and be treated by people who really do seem to care now a days.
