Great bagel shop. Go early its quite a wait. Super soft inside and crispy outside bagels. Can't go wrong with a everything with lox cream cheese.

Prepare to wait on a long line then deal with a rude manager, slow service and okay bagels. Save yourself the time, headache and money by going somewhere else.

Surly service. There was some confusion with our order and the woman serving scolded us for it.

There is always a line here. Food's usually worth the wait and service, but this time it definitely wasn't.

The bagels flat out weren't good. Expensive lox sandwich was well filled. Bacon egg and cheese was very skimpy, with sad, thin, uneven layers. We could barely see the bacon.

Waited about 30-40 minutes in the line. Got the worth it sandwich and bagel with jalapeño cheese spread. Definitely worth it!

The line is unacceptable. I want a bagel with chicken salad for lunch and I have to wait over 1/2 hour? I bet all the grub hub and uber eats, etc orders bottle neck service for foot traffic. Fix the wait time! I’m watching people walk in and walk out when they see how ling the line is so they are losing a lot of business

This place has the best bagels in all of New York, but has some of the worst customer experiences. The bagels are great, but I had to wait in line today for over 25 minutes for a 30 second job. All I wanted was bagels, nothing prepared, just the bagels. The way the line is run here really doesn’t seem effective, and people like me are left to wait in line for something that takes less than 30 seconds.

I can’t believe people are rating Utopia in one star because its long line and in fact they don’t weigh the bagels. Come on ppl just chill.
First of all, this is the best Bagels in NYC. Yes then probably you have to understand there is always line for good places. And you can definitely find somewhere without line.
Secondly. All bakery is not exactly the same side. Maybe mass produced packaged cookies? But this is a bagel the biggest thing about it is the originality and the hand crafted of these? I mean ppl definitely need to chill. And enjoy the bite. Its worth the try and who doesn’t love a fantastic delicious bagel just come out from the oven.
Hands up the BEST.

When we moved here a year ago we were obsessed with this bagel shop.but lately its horrible, whether it’s the bagels or the service it’s gotten so bad! They need more people focused on working rather than talking and lines r always out the door I mean not for nothing their bagels aren’t the best anymore! B

Went here recently for the first time in a couple of years. I was reminded of why I stopped going.
1. Service is subpar at best, rude at worst.
2. Bagel size varies greatly; from average to small
3. Lines are long (not their fault, of course so I don't hold this against them. But it negatively affects the experience)
4. Prices are expensive for what you get. Per bagel they are on par with the competition, but they don't throw in extra bagels for buying 1/2 dozen or a dozen. The competition does.
5. I could (almost) forgive the first 4 issues if the bagels were high quality. They are just meh. Average. They offer plenty of flavors, and they are hand rolled so they have a nice look to them. BUT the dough = not on par with any of the better bagel establishments in NYC. They don't have that dense, spongy doughy-ness that the best bagels have.

They sell other bakery items, which seem to be good quality. But if I'm going for bagels I would go somewhere else.

There is TONS of competition nearby: Whitestone Bagel Factory, Bagel Club, Bagel Parlor, JK Bakery, Bagel Time. Pick one and compare.

Terrible customer service from Kathy who is rude, unprofessional, hangs up on customers, and doesn't belong at a place of business like Utopia Bagels as SHE will be the reason customers refuse to go to Utopia bagels anymore.

I have had.issues when placing orders with them about 8 out of 10 times. It has been a struggle to get them to fix their mistakes when I'm being charged $5 or more for items I never even received. It isn't MY FAULT yet Kathy puts the excuse that it's busy. That is NOT MY PROBLEM. HIRE MORE PEOPLE THEN. I SHOULDN'T BE CHARGED unauthorized on my credit card without my knowledge and then NOT EVEN GET THE ITEMS IM BEING CHARGED FOR. When I called to complain that I'm being charged $12 for an item that's $4.50, simply she had a NASTY ATTITUDE about her mistake and didn't even try to make it right.

This happens ALLLLLLLLLLLL THE TIME.

She is a NASTY PERSON TO WORK IN THE HOSPITALITY BUSINESS.

KATHY, PLEASE FIX YOUR ATTITUDE.

True to its name, it's a bagel Utopia. Usually I rate bagel places based on the service and quality of bagel, so it's important to mention that Utopia goes above and beyond that. They have great selection, great schmear, etc.

Although the lines can get long. The employees work quick and the line moves quickly. Food is amazing, and so are the people here!

OMG I LOVEEEE THEM! The BEST! Bagels in QUEENS! So fresh and tastes delicious! They sell various sandwiches and have different cream cheese flavors if you're a cream cheese fanatic!

Simple.just as all the one and two-star reviews said. If THEY make a mistake and you gently bring it up to the manager or owner, you will actually get YELLED AT. They make a lot of mistakes with orders, mistakes with charging, no masks, horrible customer service. Nasty. The food may be good, but the other issues mentioned can even be more important. The owner needs anger management.

NO MASKS worn with the majority of workers at the counter which take orders and preps the food.

1) This does not comply with N. Y. C restaurant code. Especially a week after Omicron is announced…

2) It blatantly states total disregard to customers health, with a complete full serving of narcissism….

You lost a long time customer.

Real NY bagels with the crisp, slightly bubbly exterior and dense chewy interior. Plenty of schmear choices, including everything from tofu to lox to birthday cake to mango. There are large picnic style tables outside. They are very busy but staff are friendly and competent. I just wish all of them who were handling food had been wearing their masks!

The bagels and food are good, but the service is hit or miss. I frequent here often as it’s close to my work place and the bagels are good, BUT I’ve lost count to how many times I’ve told them to toast my bagels and they never do. I make sure to stress toasted, and it still doesn’t get toasted. A few of the employees are great and the order is usually always correct, but too many times it’s either a wrong cream cheese or non-toasted bagel which ruins the good food.

The best bagels around. Moved out of NYC and will always come back here to have a bagel. Decided on a lox bagel and was not disappointed. Also ordered a dozen bagels to take back with me to NC.

Close your eyes and picture yourself eating the best NYC bagel you can ever have. Now, open them and you’re in Utopia Bagel’s lively store. The rich aromas of dough and seasoning fills your senses.

Okay but seriously, the only reason why I gave it a 1-star review is bc the bagels are hand-rolled and different sizes. So essentially, you’re paying the same price for less one day and maybe more the next time. I don’t want to leave the size of my meal to random chance.

Simple Solution @Utopia Bagel … just weigh the bagel and charge based on weight of only the bagel excluding the contents. I paid $12 for a lox cream cheese bagel but it was tiny compared to my friend’s (same order and size) bagel. $12 spent and still hungry.
