Vanessa's Dumpling House reviews
12I got the pork cabbage dumplings and they may have been the worst I have eaten. The skin was way too thick that I just tasted the skin rather than the pork/cabbage inside. It's also a bit pricey compared to other dumpling places in Chinatown. My friends got sesame pancakes which they really enjoyed so I recommend getting that if you decide to come here as the pancakes were more affordable and sizable portions.
This is one of my favorite spots to go to in Chinatown because of their sesame pancakes. I just haven’t found anything else like it and I’ve been on the hunt for years.
Do yourself a favor and get there to try something that will knock your socks off!
What concerns food, I tried dumplings in soup with additiona spicy sousel; the dumplings were good, but the soup lacked flavour. Affordable for New York (10 dollars a portion).
In terms of the atmosphere and service, the place has basic furnishings. Chopsticks weren't provided, and I wasn't asked about needing a fork, just given one. The note "only cash" was on the entrance door and inside, yet they accepted credit cards from another seemingly Chinese customer.
We loved it, there is a large choice of dumplings which are delicious. Special mention for the egg pancake, we didn't know about it and it was really good.
Great place, but they have forgotten the walk-in customers with all the grubhub and doordash orders.
The wait can be dismal.
Can't beat the 8 pan fried dumplings for only $7 ($5.50 but I mean, you have to get the chili garlic sauce, scallions and cilantro of course). I definitely want to come back and try the scallion pancakes. Quick service!
I only got the veggie dumplings and edamame so can't speak for the other food but the dumplings were mediocre and flavorless, the edamame had a strange taste and were inedible
I had the Spicy Vegan Beef fried dumplings. The BEST DUMPLINGS I'VE EVER HAD! Will be coming back every time I come to NY.
谢谢你的食物
The price/performance ratio is too low! 4 dumplings for $2.75, still very hard.the price increase is really outrageous. Then the dumpling skin is a bit hard. It's a bit like a machine-shaped shape, and the taste is average. But the most frustrating thing is the price. Selling pot stickers is really expensive, but the service, pancakes, etc.are no problem. Still very good.
Try this place out. Otherwise you'd pass right by!
The sesame pancake sandwich is what brought us here, the Peking duck scallion cucumber is crispy outside, roasted duck pieces is full of flavor! Don't mind the shared seating, and line to order, it will all be worth it once to bite into your sandwich. Wontons are another option to add, plus the small pork buns looked good too. Oh check out the frozen items to go (pic of menus).
Run by the nicest ladies always working very hard and the pancakes are almost better than the dumplings
Great dumplings at very good prices. You can eat in but it’s often crowded. Share a table place. Scallion pancakes are terrific.
