Vegan Ginger Root, New York NY

Great food and laid back atmosphere! We got the king oyster mushrooms, pineapple fried rice, and pistachio ice cream, all absolutely incredible! We will be returning!

I was looking for a Chinese vegan place for forever and just found this place on a happy cow.

And OMG. The food is just amazing, even my meat eating friend enjoyed it. I really like yaki udon and black pepper seitan. Everything bursts with flavor, nicely cooked and extremely filling. The portion size is quite big, so I had to pack leftovers to go. As well as I ordered a couple meals for later. Everything was packed very nicely to reheat later.

I will definitely be coming every time I'm in NYC.

Love this place, my family’s been coming here for years! Can’t say enough great things. Simon always helps us out and is extremely accommodating with recommendations and any dietary restrictions. Such a great, warm feeling & amazing hospitality every time we come into the restaurant. We love everything, especially the mango summer rolls and the green tea noodles! 10/10!

Are the good reviews real? Read about the “hot and spicy “ bibimbap. - ordered home and the kimchi sause was not in the bag. But wonder if a kimchi sauce would made a difference to spice up a very plain dish of cold rice and cucumbers, chickpeas etc. We could not eat the food so it ended in the trash. Very dissapointed.

This was a great find while in NYC. Food was delicious, breaded soy protein was awesome. Will be back!

It’s so delicious and I don’t normally like eating veggies! How did I not know soy protein and vegetables can taste this good before! The nugget appetizer is so good, so is the soy protein dish on the top in the picture.

As vegans who also have some food sensitivities, eating out is often difficult. We found New Ginger Root and it was perfect! Great tasting food, a friendly staff that clearly wanted satisfied customers. We weren't just satisfied. We were delighted!

Udon & Lobster roll were OK but Soy Protein salad was nothing like what menu says. Just basic greens with a few cucumbers, grape tomatoes, and not much soy protein. No almonds, alfalfa sprouts and beets. They also gave us the wrong dressing, not a peanut dressing as it says on the menu. It was some green dressing. Could also have provided some soy sauce for the noodles.

The Malaysian curry is a must try! This cuisine is a unique experience in the New Yorm vegan food scene. Please come out and try it!

This is one of my all time favorite places to get dinner. I make sure I take every vegan I know here for the nuggets, peanut butter chocolate bundle, and all the other tasty dishes!

Excellent food. My wife and I come here for lunch today. Lots of food, good pricing. Pad Thai was awesome!

Fast, kind service with delicious vegan food. The fried king oysters were out of this world. There are also lunch specials.

Everything was seasoned very well! The lunch special came with miso soup and a spring roll for $10.50:) The service was also great. I will be back soon

This has been one of my go-to places for lunch since it opened. Food is great, staff is great. As a vegetarian it's nice to have a place that I can order off the entire menu without a load of questions and is always delicious. It's always liked by any omnivores that accompany me.

Literally like a second home for me, Simon always takes care of me and gives me first class service. Easily my favorite vegan place on the upper eastside. The ambiance is very calm and peaceful with serene music. The perfect place wind down and enjoy a well balanced vegan meal.
