Was visiting NYC and our son recommended this place. Loved it. Amazing food, friendly staff, and great service. A little pricey, but hey, you're in New York City. Live it up a little.

The food here is as expected. Nothing wowed me but nothing was bad either. Would be nice to have kvas and olivier.

I liked it, we went to brunch, good, fast and friendly service, good food, there are a lot of people, they are open on Fridays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. To 12 noon.

It took 10 minutes to enter, because place was packed. Food is great!
But.
Waiters touched forks and spoons with their hands. And this is awful.
Bathrooms were dirty (
I expected waiters to speak ukrainian, or at least to hear some greeting in ukrainian.
I wish they have syrnyky in the menu)

What is there not to like about this place? ! The service was amazing, very professional and friendly. We asked for suggestions and the lady helping us was happy to recommend some dishes. She always had a smile on her face, which made our visit a lot better. We felt comfortable and welcomed.
The atmosphere here was great! It felt so cozy even though it was packed.
We were with a Ukrainian guy and he said that the food reminded him of home. The only thing I would mention about their Borscht is that it had only a little bit of meat, but it tasted really good.
We had a pleasant time at this restaurant, and would love to come back soon!

Excellent Pierogi, stuffed cabbage and Borscht. Short wait at 2p (20minutes) but main lunch crowd left. Ordered and in less than 7 minutes the meal came worth the wait. No rushing as I finished my 20oz glass of Orolon (Ukrainian beer).

It's more than just vareniki/pierogi.
If you consider sweet, medovyk is the best, honey infusion dough and sour cream based cream.

I've been here a few times now. I usually go around midnight, the food is always so delicious, I've never been disappointed. Also, I love the Easter decorations. Amazing place. Amazing atmosphere. Amazing food. Always busy.best Ukranian comfort food anywhere. Comprehensive menu of Ukrainian fair.

First rate hot borscht, a brothy stew really. First rate sauerkraut, beautifully spiced. And of course great pierogi. Kind attentive server, even if the place was not too busy.

Delicious as always! I’ve been going for there for the past decade and I’m happy to see that the quality of the food is still very high!

DISGUSTING MANAGER! HE ACCIDENTY? SPIT ON ME! WHILE TELLING ME HOW LUCKY I WAS TO GET A TABLE! NO APOLOGIZES NO NOTHING! ABSOLUTELY DUSGUTING! I SHOULD HAVE CALLED THE POLICE INSTEAD I WALKED OUT. I WILL NOT BE RETURNING AND NEITHER SHOULD YOU! GO NEXT DOOR TO THE SLY FOX AKA UKRAINIAN HOME RESTAURANT INSTEAD OF VESELKA! ALSO ALSO. Unlike their original founders the management at Veselka does not respect or honor their long time local customers unfortunately this once legendary establishment has become boring and cheap! For example HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS I HAVE SPENT ON THEIR CITY WINERY ROT GUT TAP RED WINE the money of which goes directly to the armed forces of Ukraine - so they say on their menue (is it true?) - and not one 'thank you very much, ' ALSO they are always rushing the check AND at the table only offering 1 slice of bread rather than 2 slices with a bowl of soup and no butter! No jelly! And no sugar! On the table! Absolutely NO more love NO more heart! WHAT HAPPENED SOMETHING IS HORRIBLY WRONG and I feel for the waitstaff! Such a shame on VESELKA! Don't go!

The cuisine is delicious, but over all the years of existence of this restaurant, it has been too American-changed, adapted to the average passing American. Service on a solid 5-point scale with a plus on a 5-point scale. THANK YOU. Will I come here again? SO.

The food was great! The potato pancakes were simple but amazing! I recommend the vegetable perogies over the meat options, just more flavorful overall. However, I have yet to find a restaurant that serves boiled perogies with olive oil the way one place does it in Pittsburgh. Also, the server stopped us from ordering too much food which is awesome because she was looking out for us, but we also really wanted more food.
