Thai Restaurant Wasana's reviews
18I went here a lot growing up.the food is amazing.i love it.the spring rolls, chicken sauté, and chicken pad thai are my favorite.my only complaint is that the thai iced tea always tastes weirdly… off? Like its salty? Otherwise i love the food here.
I appreciate the friendly service and awareness/sensitivity to food allergies. Unfortunately, the food itself was very bland and not enjoyable.
My family stopped at Wasana's for lunch and were pleasantly surprised by the solid Thai food served in what appears to be a family run restaurant.
INTERIOR: very simple, no-nonsense, but clean interior
FOOD: All the dishes we ordered were solid-good
Khow Pad fried rice, Pad Thai with shrimp, Pad Pringkhing, Gang Kie Wan (green curry), and Pad Talay with seafood. The dishes are reasonably spicy for Asian tastes so please ask for milder if you are sensitive to spice. Some dishes are on the saltier side. Main curry and sauce dishes come with jasmine rice and you can request substitution with brown rice.
SERVICE: our service was excellent, attentive, and far superior to what we experienced the night before at a restaurant that cost 5 times as much (Deer Mountain Inn).
LOCATION: the restaurant is on Main Street in the pleasant main downtown area of Catskill. There are many shops and boutiques along this very walkable stretch of town.
Delicious Thai food served fresh and hot. Spice levels can be customized to your needs. Plenty of seating indoors. Definitely recommend the spring rolls, basil fried rice and the red curry. Friendly staff! The best part is they’re open thru the afternoon while most restaurants close and reopen in the evening.
An insult to Thai cuisine. The sauces were merely an approximation of Thai flavors and aroma. The vegetables were decent, and I would have given it two stars, but the table cloth was dirty.
A hidden gem with truly fantastic Thai food!
My father and I stopped in for a late lunch/early dinner. He got Pad Thai and I got Panang Curry on the mild side. The curry was a perfect balance of mild heat, flavor and wonderful aromas.
Hands down the best Thai I've had outside of Thailand! Will definitely be back!
The food is good. The service is fast and friendly. Don't let the appearance of the place dissuade you. We were a bit hesitant when we first walked in but both totally agreed we'd definitely go back once we left.
The Curry is more like a salad with Romaine for some reason? Produce still had stickers on it. Fried rice was steamed and not fried or seasoned. We were so excited to try and have never been this let down by Thai. Bill was $70, should've spent $10 at the store and made it ourselves
One of the most bland, flavorless thai food I have ever eaten over in 10 years or so.were you guys out of the key ingredients? This is not a thai food- even I could make this at home
Had an ideal meal, fresh ingredients cooked to perfection.
You should get to Wasana's right away and enjoy anything on the menu.
The peanut sauce is also absolutely delicious
Quality ok.
Quantity really bad.
If you have more than 5 years you need to order at least 2 dishes (maybe 3)
We have gone to Wasana's for 18 + years. They are consistently phenomenal. Birthdays, Anniversaries, you name it.we celebrate with a meal from Wasana's. The best Thai food I have ever had.
Dined in once while traveling recently. No one else dining in. Saw a few dead bugs near the window, and dust on the table cloths. The food was okay except that the fried rice was way too salty. We had to ask for some plain white rice to mix together. Service was good but a bit slow given that we were the only one eating there and we saw one carry out. As for the quantity, it is average the most.
First time here and the waitress was very kind and patient with our myriad of questions. Food was delicious and reasonably priced.
Nice thai spot in the town of Catskill. Asked the waitress for some recommendations & ended up getting the following:
Geow tood (fried pork wontons)
- really enjoyed these
Tom yum soup
- had a little too much lime for my taste
Chicken pad kee mou (drunken noodle)
- more sweet than spicy.
Gang kie wan (green curry)
-had a good amount of heat & flavor
Would recommend if you are in the area.
I honestly thought that the roasted duck was a masterpiece. Wow. Best duck dish I've ever had. We'll be back.
Amazing environment and super attentive service. The menu was fresh and yummy. Will clearly recommend this spot to others. Fair rates and large meals. Keep it up.
I really wanted to like this place but sadly it was very disappointing.
When picking up take out I noticed people working the cooking line not wearing masks (despite several restaurants on Main Street having shut down due to COVID scares in the last month).
The only part of our order that was tasty was the roasted duck but the rest of the food lacked flavor.
Several options were order so to be let down with more than one entree is the reason for such a review.
In reading other reviews I was surprised to hear about the comparison to Elmhurst Queens which has incredible Thai food. This to me was nothing like the food from Elmhurst.
