White Horse Tavern - Financial District reviews
14My Girlfriend and I came in yesterday waiting for our check in. We had such a welcoming experience from Tom the bartender. His conversations with us and the drinks he served us made this an amazing experience that we’ll definitely come back again when we visit the city.
Amazing experience. Great food, incredibly good prices, and unbelievable service. If I could go 10 stars, I would. The food is fresh, delicious, and clearly plated/served with care. The beers are $5 or $6 with a great selection. Service unequaled anywhere. The most pretentious places with the $18 side order of "truffle fries" doesn't hold a candle to this spot. Every single person I encountered was genuine, nice, and great at their job. Not sure what else to say - give this place a shot. And enjoy.
I stopped to grab a drink with a friend. Even though I've worked in the area for seven years, it was the first time in this tavern. It was immediately warm, friendly and inviting. My Long Island Iced Tea was delicious, the music was fun and the bathroom was impeccably clean. I definitely recommend.

Friendly staff - - Armond (sp?), Tina and Tom.
They made me feel welcomed at the bar immediately. Thank you to them!
Good conversation with them about the history of the bar and the neighborhood. Beer specials available.
Order the beef brisket sandwich with fries to go. The sandwich was AWESOME! The fries were hot and fresh. Their sandwich selection prices average $3 - $5 below comparable bars.
I’ll be back for sure.
Love this place. Great food and alcohol options especially for lower Manhattan. We've been here twice and both times bartenders have been super friendly. Excellent happy hour.
The last great downtown working man’s bar?
A remnant of old New York, when the city had hundreds of cheap Irish pubs where you could get a sandwich, a steam table lunch special, a couple beers and not break the bank.
There may still be one Blarney Stone pub left in NYC (right around the corner), but they don’t have a 5 dollar beer and shot special like the White Horse does.
Great prices (the cheapest pint of Guinness in the city) and a fun mix of clientele that varies from slumming tech bros to the Rasta bredrin that sell trinkets around the corner on Bowling Green.
Back in the pre-COVID days they’d have 3-4 floors open on busy nights, now it’s usually just the first two. Still, multi floor bars are always fun. One has to assume they own the building, as it sits there as this charming piece of the 19th century dwarfed by the skyscrapers that surround it.
If the switched the onions rings back to homemade beer bartered ones from the Cisco breaded garbage they are now, it would be 5 stars.
We took a pit stop here on my bachelorette weekend and Tom and Jimmy totally made our night! We did the amazing 5 dollar beer and shot combo and had a great time. Thank you!
I just loved the little place from the outside. Couldn’t help myself to have a few cold ones.
Great prices and the food looked nice also.
Great little pub to grab a bite and a drink, loved the atmosphere! One of the few decently priced spots we found and so worth it!
Based on reviews and proximity to our hotel, we opted to try this pub. The general indoor appearance is classic 19th century pub with beautiful wood paneling.
The food itself was just average in quality. We definitely recommend the mozzarella sticks, though. The hummous & pita starter was a generous portion, as was the cheesesteak sandwich. All things considered, the draft beers available were disappointing.
We came in for a quick drink and the bartender was so nice! The beer happy hour prices were cheap for New York which we loved.
The service here was excellent! Decor very cute, food was as described, and prices were affordable. Next time I want to try the fish & chips.
Worst experience ever! Came here for my Birthday. Waitress was rude and lazy, showed up only twice in two hours. Had to walk to the bar to place our orders. When we payed the bill, she added 20% tip on her own - for doing quite nothing all the time. Please, who ever will read this, go to any other bar in FiDi!
Great beer and fab service and experience in a genuine ye older tavern.full of atmosphere and banter.a must visit when downtown
