Wisdom Salon, Hicksville NY

So this was a little difficult decision to make but I was torn between the fact that I am indeed happy with the result on how my hair turned out but it was expected To come out the way it did knowing the color I chose. After the process and during the washing, the stylist was scrubbing pressing into my temples, which i knew she was trying to take off some hair dye, who knew i could not see anything without my glasses, and the fact that I walked out with hair dye stained to the point it was difficult to come off and I still have staining even after washing it out couple of times and using chemicals on my skin it's not coming out. The reason I did not see it is because the woman didn't even wait for me to go through my hair, as she was busy to go home which when i called and specified my time frame before going forward with knowledge of the salons hours of operation however, I did say its ok i can find somewhere else that can work. After going home my husband pointed out the extent of the staining. Overall experience Was based on the ending outcome was just OK. However the amount of money paid and the fact I am aware of the appointment being scheduled last minute and fit into the schedule day of, and knew that we were the last appointment however they could have said we could not do it And we would have gone somewhere else rather than staining someone's skin and being sloppy to begin with was not a nice feeling. I don't know if I would be returning to the salon or not even though I do like my hair and how it turned out Along with the haircut and my mom's hair being fixed by the other woman which the names weren't said directly to us but they were being thrown out there and i choose not to say because the staff did do what you expected to have a stylist too listen to what you need to be done, but the technique was not there and I've been to a lot of hair salons and people dealing with my hair type and It was just very disappointing to end up having around your whole entire head stained black 2" away from your hairline. Just sad, Because the salon is literally 10 minutes from my house and I do have to get my hair done every month for events or Just touch ups, And I know the cost of doing my hair is not like your average person which I don't mind paying.

So let me start off with, every business makes mistakes and it’s how the mistakes are corrected that matters. I REALLY needed a last minute balayage appointment after someone else canceled one week before my honeymoon. I also had a specific time frame (weekday evenings after 5: 30) that was really difficult to accommodate. Wisdom was able to accommodate that when most salons couldn’t.

I checked reviews before I booked, and everyone was recommending the owner Maria so I booked with her. I also have VERY long hair (thick and past my butt). When I arrived, I showed her a photo, and within 2 1/2 hours (short for the amount of hair I have) I was done. Maria stayed an hour after close to finish up. Unfortunately, I didn’t love the look. My hair looked a little blonde, when I really wanted an amber color. She assured me that this was very fixable, and I could stay and fix it, or I could come back. It was a bit late, so I opted to come back. I came back the next day, she got me right in the chair, they added a glaze to help get the amber color I want, and I was done and out with a blow out within an hour with honestly, the most amazing hair job I’ve ever had. I’ll come back a million times over,

Wisdom salon is a great place. I have been there several times for the Magic Sleek treatment with Marie and she always does such a fabulous job. She takes her time and makes sure everything is perfect. I also get great haircuts and color there too. I always leave so happy with the results. Marie and her team are really great and make sure they create such a wonderful experience for their clients. Overall great salon and highly recommended for all their services!

I purchased a Groupon for Magic Sleek Express. When I called to make the appointment I asked how long I would be there and they said it depends on the length of my hair and long hair would be extra. I said I had long hair when I booked appointment. When I arrived today and met my stylist she explained to me how magic sleek worked and since I had long hair it would cost extra … which I totally expected and agreed to the extra charge. My process started and everything seemed ok.when we got to the part where my hair was blow dried and then straightened with a flat iron my stylist didn’t talk to me for almost 2 hours until she told me that she was not washing out the product in my hair. At that point she had seemed annoyed by my long hair and the time it was taking her. I left with a greasy stringy head of hair. Marie (the boss) came over and told me I didn’t purchase the Groupon that would include washing my hair. The other Groupon options included hair cuts. I did not want a hair cut. She told me this is how Magic Sleek Express is done. This is the end of the process. I should go home and wash my hair. So bottom line… if you get Magic Sleek Express here I was told by Marie that this how it’s done. You leave the salon like this. (This photo was taken hours later bc I had appointments and errands to run and I expected to leave with decent hair not greasy hair. Marie told me I could wash my hair later… hope it turns out ok)
EDIT: I am saying “ I hope it came out ok” sorry you misread that. You are now 100% lying that she offered to wash and blow my hair out for discounted rate of $20. That was never offered to me. She said I could pay extra to wash and blow my hair.but after her clearly being annoyed my service was taking too long.and Marie you came over and said.wow she has a lot of hair, I will have to call your next client to push them back. It was obvious that you didn’t want me to stay for a wash and blow out or I would’ve paid for it. Washing the product out of my hair should have been free. I would’ve left with a wet head of hair and that would have been better. Marie- you told me washing the product out of my hair was not included. I NEVER asked for something for free. I paid extra for long hair and tipped Kelly on the full price of the service.

Elsy was excellent. I had the full Magic Sleek hair treatment with cut and blow out. She was thorough and detail oriented, and didn’t seem to skimp on product or time (it took 5 hours, but well worth it). My naturally wavy hair came out pin straight; one week later and my hair remains straight with no blow drying necessary. The treatment definitely lightened my medium brown hair to light brown, which I like. Elsy warned me up-front this would likely happen.

Wash and cut was good but this place is not for curly hair. The staff was very nice and the color was good but my haircut is another story. When I sat down to get my haircut I closed my eyes and when I opened them I wanted to cry (when I got home I did cry). I had forgotten why I hate thinning shears (scissors) now I remember. It killed my curls, made them frizzy and all I can think is thank God - my hair grows fast. Moral of the story - if you have curly hair get it cut with someone that specializes in curly hair. With that being said I would return for a wash and color.

Elsy was very good and patient. And did a fantastic job with what I wanted which was a light trim and she didn't cut too much like my other experiences in my past. She was friendly and helpful. The salon is nice and clean and just want I needed.

BEST PLACE EVER. I got my hair done here for magic sleek and my hair is very curly. SO AMAZING! It looks like i got brazillian blowout but better. I highly recommned here. And, some places say they disaneffect but they dont, this place done every chair seat and table. I love this place so much. But there are 2 things you need to know, bring things to do and some food, And be ready for an awesome amazing hairstyle!

Marie the owner did the magic sleek for my hair on June 15th, 2021. My hair turned green and gold! I sat there for almost 6 hours and I was crying at the end when I saw the color. She tried to blame me and said it was because I didn’t have highlights done like I did the past two years and also because I had a few greys. So she literally blamed me who was the customer, that my hair turned green! She gave me no apology or offer to come back the next day and she would fix it! She said make an appointment and we give you highlights! She wouldn’t admit at all and just denied that it was a hideous color with green throughout! The very next day I had 3 separate consultations with excellent salons and they all said there is no way that it was done correctly if it turned geeen! MARIE was the problem, not me or the excuses she gave me. I went back to her and she was still a mean human being when I told her what 3 other professionals said. Nothing! Just stared at me and said, “it’s not green! ” So I lost it and started screaming because how can someone mess up that badly and continue to act like nothing was wrong! So I had to spend another $240 to get the green out! Still has to be gold because she DESTROYED my hair and now I have to wait for the gold to wash out!

DO NOT USE THIS SALON AND GIVE THAT LADY ANY BUSINESS!

I got magic sleek to my hair a couple days ago and I am blown away by the results. I just washed my hair and it's still pin straight! Kelly did a fabulous job-really took her time and was extremely professional. I will definitely be back again when I am due for another treatment. Thank you wisdom salon?

I went for Magic Sleek, Marie and her staff exceeded my expectations. The salon was clean and they continued to disinfect after each customer. They were friendly and professional. I will definitely go back again thank you Marie, I love the result!
