Wolf Conservation Center reviews
17I'm still so incredibly happy I got to go here. I had been dreaming of visiting long before I even moved to NYC. The staff there was great; after the tour, I got to speak with one of them in-depth about wolves, which made me very happy. I hope to visit again soon!
A beautiful nature preserve dedicated to wolf conservation efforts for the Mexican Grey Wolf and the Red Wolf. The grey wolves are the ambassador wolves. Perfect place for a school field trip or family visit for the day.
Fun, educational, and a great day trip to experience and help these amazing animals. The staff are one of a kind and the tour is beautiful.
Very dedicated staff trying to salvage what was done to the wolves in this country, especially the Red Wolf!
My grandmother and I had such a fantastic time here and we learned so much! We appreciate the volunteers who take such good care of the wolves and the center.
Great, knowledgeable & informative staff. Movie: Black Wolf (the life of) was amazing - entertaining. S'mores were a plus for the kids & sitting around the 2 fire pits listening to adults & staff exchange stories was amusing. Seeing the grey wolves & red wolves plus hearing the wolves howling at times thru the night into morning, was totally awesome. The 4 person tent was set up & spacious & in great condition. Not crowded & a wonderful mix. Some kids, 1 teenager and various adults of all ages. Definitely returning again. Definitely encouraging friends to visit & stay overnight.
Great place and the staff is very nice. Our guide, Alex, was very knowledgeable and funny.
You see the three ambassador wolves at the entrance, and then thats it.
The tour guide was a nice charasmatic older gentleman, but the little rude fellow that called himself the tour director had a nasty attidude and was kind of rude to my wife and granddaughter. Really unecessary if you ask me. Kind of ruined the exxcursion for us. I would not bother to go again.
Very educational and wonderful experience. Joe was a very good tour guide. Will be visiting again.
Our tour was led by Reagan, who was incredible. She was so knowledgeable about not only the wolves in the conservatory, but also about wolf research, studies, and stats in general. Super informative and receptive to all questions! I loved all her little stories about the wolves at their center. You could tell the staff really cares for these magnificent creatures. Hoping that more people will help support their causes! Will be returning hopefully for their Sleeping with Wolves program over the summer. Highly recommend for science trips, spots to take kids, and for any wolf lover to visit. Well worth your time.
Amazing experience. Excellent information. Regan the Guide was super knowledgeable. Lucky to see so many wolves. Beautiful animals. Great for kids and adults.
Our program meeting Ambassador wolves Alawa, Zephyr and Nikai was fascinating and educational. Our guide was excellent, she taught us so much about the wolves and the center's methods of raising, protecting and re-locating them to a natural, wild enviroment. She did an amazing imitation of a wolves howl and the wolves howled back in response to her! It was fun watching her interact with the wolves by giving them snacks and observing their recognition of her cues. One may observe the wolves at any time on the live webcam. She pointed out that sadly, many states, Idaho and Wyoming in particular, are not protecting wolves and rather they may be killed for any reason, including "fun". We need to advocate to protect these beautiful creatures.
The man is abrupt, condescending and vomitously rude. You can not interrupt him or ask anything. He should not have this job he only cares about having the attention to talk nothing about the wolves or animals. It’s all about him, he’s the animal.
It was the perfect way to start the year for me. We seen some wolves took some pics and learned why they need our help. Very educational but a little sad to hear the negligence of humans as the stewards to our planet.
I was hoping that the wolves were more free, instead they are locked up in enclosures. The person who accompanies us to see these magnificent animals, speaks continuously for hours without realizing the annoyance it creates for the animals. In fact, she asks the group to howl. All this is pure shameful spectacle. It would have been better not to see any wolves and to know that you are really saving them, not keeping them in your pens just to get rich.sad and dreary. To save the wolves you have the space to create huge reserves. It doesn't matter if tourists don't see the animals, the important thing is that the animals are fine! I hate zoos, but there are some in my country where wolves have a lot more space than in your reserve!
Such an incredible experience! Our youngest loves wolves so we chose to do the Sleeping with Wolves overnight camp out. Colin, Dana and Alex were amazing hosts. Extremely knowledgeable and passionate. The entire program was run very smoothly and not on a really strict schedule, but there was plenty to do and see at all times. There are only 6 4-person tents so it's not an overwhelming crowd even when fully booked (which our night was). We were able to get very close to a few of the wolves and if not for the safety rules very likely could have touched some! We were able to get the wolves howling and see them jump for some snacks. There are 3 Ambassador wolves in the 1st enclosure (all siblings), then further down were 2 red wolves. And still further back are 2 Mexican grey wolves. We were only able to see 1 of those because they had a newer den that they were loving. Apparently they have 24 hr trail cams that you can view inside their dens and enclosures. There are 33 wolves in total and at times you could hear them all howling and calling out to each other, but you only have the opportunity to see 7. Throughout the night we could hear them howling and upon waking up between 615 and 630 am they seemed to do a roll call and all howled for a while. We learned so much and will continue to support their conservation and education efforts and hope to return someday (it's a 6 hour drive for us).
Wonderful learning experience for both my 4 year old and myself. Beautiful animals. Can’t wait to go back and do an overnight next spring.
