Woods Creek Kayak Launch, Grand Island NY

Whoever designated a kayak launch point must have been high. It's a great place to instantly get yourself stuck in the mud, though.

The put in is very basic but workable. Creek is fun to explore and easy enough to get to the East Niagara River if you want more open water. Probably tough later when lily pads and algae get worse.

Great location - but there needs to be some serious work on on the ramp

Very good scenery in the creek and good entrance to the Niagara.

Extremely muddy, cloudy, foul smelling water. You can hear the road traffic all around you which isn't exactly peaceful. I have a PVC kayak and got stuck on a dead tree that had fallen into the water (thank god it didn't puncture because I could've grown a third leg if I'd fallen in). The only highlight was a couple of turtles sunning on a log.

This is a slightly more difficult launch into murky water. Tough to get out without a pull up! Kayak early in season before the lily pads take over. Perfect for avoiding the weekend river boaters. Plenty of wildlife for viewing.
