Lovely experience renting from 41 North. Great location in the basin of Rocky River Reservation with ample parking. Well maintained facilities with public restrooms on site.

Super friendly staff with easy check-in if you book online. Walk-up rentals available but not guaranteed especially on nice weekends. Have done both SUP and kayak rentals with reasonable pricing; I’m no expert but have not had any issues with the equipment and the staff are helpful without being overbearing if you let them know that you’ve done SUP/kayaking before. Mandatory flotation devices must be worn, but for SUP it’s just an inflatable waist pack which is nice and compact.

The area to actually explore spans mostly the small reservoir and inlet from the Lake, basically showcasing the docks of the yacht club and water front real estate. It probably gets dull if you come regularly, and you do need to watch out for other water-mobile traffic. Once you get out onto the Lake, the water and wind can get much more choppy, so would recommend sticking close to shore and staying within your comfort zone.

I’ve always had an awesome experience with 41 North! The equipment they use is far better than the other rentals in the area. Customer service is top notch. They monitor lake conditions and will sometimes restrict paddling to the River, but text and email you ahead of time to let you know you can reschedule.

After having done a handful of self-guided rentals, I joined them for one of their guided tours and their guides are not only great and experienced paddlers, but super fun as well. As a plus, they took pictures throughout and sent them to us after the tour.

You have to book online even if you are right there in person. They will not let you book there, so if you do not have a cell phone or computer, you cannot come to this place. They make you take your cellphone out with you or you cannot go out (they say it’s for contacting you, but then why wouldn’t they provide a walkie talkie instead of expecting you to use your own personal belongings). They keep your drivers license while you’re out… all ridiculous to me. Definitely not a place you can just show up and rent a watercraft from, plan ahead if you want to go here, as it’s not easy and they make it more difficult.
Definitely recommend the places that rent watercraft’s at the flats over this place.

I have attached photos of my trip here as evidence of my using the company, as the owners only defense for their poor rating was that I must have not actually been there. I have actually rented from this place twice. As seen in the owners reply to my review, I hope it is evident how he runs a business. I would also like to caution other reviewers, as he looked up my information and called a family member of mine and left a voicemail.

Absolutely the best kayaking experience I've had. Every employee was super helpful and inviting. The actual kayaking trip was beyond perfect! I loved that we were able to stay in the calmer waters if we wanted and also got to experience the power of Lake Erie. I also enjoyed that it wasn't a guided trip. I like to screw around and not be on anyone else's time. We will definitely be returning!

Christina, James everybody all team crew was amazing super friendly, professional & helpful, they were very safety conscious and I felt great on the water.

Efficient booking and check-in system, friendly professional staff, and a great spot for kayaking Lake Erie. We continue to go back and highly recommend.
