I love this place! ️ I have been shopping and selling and having items repaired here for years. Friendly, knowledgeable and great prices. You need to check Akron Coin out! You will be happy you did.

Stepped into this neat store today, May 2020 and had a GREAT experience. Sold a little (very reasonable prices paid on scrap gold) and bought some silver, could not have gone more smoothly. VERY competitive pricing on precious metals during the corona pandemic, looking forward to stopping back in very soon

I chose to study this place to determine if I should let them handle my own collection, and decided to publish my final findings in regards to this business. 100% my opinion from the position of 3rd party unbiased (as possible).

To me in my opinion, I would never trust their knowledge, opinions, or honesty with your collectibles or other valuables.all in all, my opinion they are nothing less than intentionally unethical, self destructive and toxic with intent to inhibit growth and promote decay.and they do it all WILLINGFULLY.

I feel they are a bad juju company. They prey on others by flattery, and also by exposing desperation of others. Like knowing a person needs money bad, so offers a lesser than "normal" approach to "commodities" if the guy senses urgency or emergency necessity in potential clients. (Otherwise if you pretend you don't "have" to sell coins, jewelry, etc. But just wanted to check value and take home your stuff, or buy more he will offer more, compliment your knowledge/etc.but still way less than his "social cues" suggested.)

Personally, I feel the place has a feeling of having a repertoire of pseudo high class entitlement, with a touch of phoney "Expert and dont-you-know-who-I-Am" aka Reese Witherspoon syndrome (just a joke for lightning the mood) when you meet them. (They have no repertoire as I am aware at the moment, but it feels like they believe they do) The tactic of use here is "Turkey-Fattening" (If you are buying a coin, he then talks about how he buys coins too, shows them off, states how much for, and how great a deal he gets buying at said price, yadda yadda yadda. BUT THEN if you are selling a coin, the sentiment is how hard it is to sell coins, and they only buy certain kinds, usually not very valuable, but you should just hang onto them, because values are low for any coins you have. He can only give so much because of lack of economic confidence). Very vulture like scavenging/harvester approaches.

COMPLETELY blind to propositions of legitimate beneficially skewed to his end deals with 100% clear profit in sight. (Offer a fresh crisp $20 for his $10 bill because you like the dollar portrait printed orientation and he may say "no way you obviously know why this one is uniquely more valuable. " I'm sure he believes that bait all the way up until he kicks himself for greed when he realizes his folly of "F.o. M.o. Fear of missing out", definitely preys on others deficiencies, instead of desite to help to build stronger relationships and improve the growth of community.

**All coins referenced are various common 1 oz or less silver coins. (Basic commodity with low fluctuations in value over course of study.)

Q. How do I know this?
A. I never cared about the money, I 100% cared about the integrity, honesty, and ethical intentions of this place. The coins were the variable not the other way around.

**The coins and the $20 dollar for $10 analogy is purely for explanation of the reference point of their intentions and ability to interpret and interact with clients in regards to their ethical nature. Values and denominations and commodities used have been changed to prevent misinterpretations of others and prevent any ability of a rebuttal or manipulative excuses.

I studied this, so these are my compiled results and my findings. NOT my complaint.

Bonjour,
Enjoy your coins Mr. McDuck

Akron Coin & Jewelry is a family owned business. The experience you have here is completely different from one you would have at a chain jeweler! The owners are honest, friendly, and professional. Their customer service and willingness to assist set them apart! Highly recommend!

First time I have ever sold old coins. The staff was friendly and service was prompt. The offers on the coins seemed fair for what I had. Would deal with them again.

Went in there to see about getting a silver bracelet looked at and to look at some coins. They all acted like they didn’t want to help me and were extremely rude. I won’t go back ever again

I bought some peace silver dollars here. Fair prices. I buy a little bit of junk silver coins, silver bullion, and silver mint coins weekly and Akron Coin will be added to the places I frequent.

The owner was rude. He charges way more than spot price. I Do Knot Recommend this place if your looking for fair prices.

Took my engagement ring in to see what they'd give me - only because I'm thinking of upgrading to something bigger. We had paid $3K for the diamond in the Caribbean 20 years ago, it's been appraised by a certified appraiser for $5K just a few years ago. Akron Coin offered me $1,000 for it. Wasn't even worth gas to drive over there. Don't bother here unless you're desperate, which I wasn't.

My family were regulars here in the 90's. But the last time I was here, the old man told me I needed to leave after a while. I believe it was a case of mistaken identity. I hate giving businesses bad reviews and it sounds like Chuck wants to earn back my business, so I've modified my review to 4 stars, as I have nothing but good memories of Akron Coin, with the exception of the last time I went. Thanks for the response Chuck.

We have dealt with this store and family for over 15 years and have always had a positive experience. The family members are very knowledgeable, helpful and honest in their business dealings. Also it gives a feeling of safety to always see present a security officer in uniform.
Before writing this review, I read through all the previous written reviews and was very impressed to read responses from the owners, offering their perspective of what happened. How many owners of businesses take the time and effort to respond to individual reviews? Very few.

I couldn't find the place until I called with 10 minutes left to close. They explained where it was (right between Acme and Snap Fitness btw) and when I said I wanted to get a few coins checked out they told me not to come even though I was less than 2 minutes away. I restated that I was right nearby and said that I would be taking my business to another place-as opposed to coming back, and they still went with "don't come". They were not rude, but definitely not exemplary customer service either. I only had a few coins and they turned out to be fakes (1oz Krugerrands) but it would have been so satisfying to say Akron Coin missed out on if the gold had been solid. Based on the owner's earlier comments to reviews, it seems like he's trying to establish a sterling reputation, but they've still got a ways go from being just okay.

I went there to have coined valued.an older man said only way they would appraise them was if we sold them to him.we were kinda strapped on time and needed the money so we agreed.a youger gentleman then 'cherry picked' though them and picked all the valuable one out of the lot.he gave us the cash.i dont think he ripped us off, nonetheless, hartville will appraise them for free and i would take my coins there rather than be 'quazi-blackmailed'.

Love, love, love this place. I will not go back to a chain jewelry store again. My husband ended up buying my custom designed wedding ring. We spent much less. I receive so many compliments even after 10 years. I always refer people here. We turn our old or broken jewelry in and they are always reasonable. Ask for Chuck, he's the best.
