Do not do it. The dope warranty relies on the company being solvent to be honored. The business will close in two years and leave all owners effed.

Initial install was good. Unfortunately the company failed to pay the contracted monitoring company Omninidian. Now I have no monitoring or support service. Avoid Solar is Freedom or any subsidiary.

The CEO has filed chapter 7 bankruptcy and listed me as a creditor because his company came and installed my system three to four months early. This is a problem because you WILL UNDER PRODUCE during the winter and you need over production credits from spring/summer to compensate so you don't have MASSIVE winter bills. I ended up allowing but immediately complained about the timing the weeks prior and the day of install. I also expressed the system size was too small with some findings that were not disclosed. Local installers confirmed that there was way more room on my roof and they setup the wiring/jbox/conduit/enphase breaker system to accept another leg of 12 panels. My sales rep gave me a new design/proposal plan with the additional 12 panels. I contacted the solar bank that they used (Dividend Finance) to notify them that the project was not complete and they should not release funds and that the install company had made some mistakes. One was non disclosure that the local energy municipality only gives 69.4% credit for the energy you overproduce during the day and send back into the grid. Because of this, you need your solar system here in Kentucky to be more than 30% larger than what is considered to get you to net zero. They sales pitch does NOT count on this. And no matter how closely you pay attention to the numbers, don't listen to their "we quote you about 75% production but our systems almost always over produce from that figure. LIES.

Anyhow this company does business by two names. American Dream Solar and "Solar is Freedom". They no longer answer the phones, no longer respond to emails. They say they are going thru restructuring. I've had the local installer and my customer success rep notify me they no longer work there and everyone got fired. The local install office in LOU KY was abandoned less than 2 months after they installed on me. They installed early, and not complete, told the bank they were done, collected the money, and disappeared. I am so so disappointed. My Solar bank loan added to my Electric bill is now $100s more than what I was paying each month before solar. It is NOT worth it. It is hit or miss and the price of install is too much. All the 30% tax credit did was allow the solar companies to increase their prices (which the tax credit is non-refundable so only good against your liability which means you must owe the tax before the credit applies so it just reduces your liability).

BE CAREFUL. MOST ALL THE ADVERTISEMENTS and talk is false and all they care about is getting the sale. Money is all they care about. The finance banks these places work with ONLY CARE about the money. There are NO consumer protections.

Excellent service and installation. Then they disappeared. New name after bankruptcy. I guess they don't have to honor the 25 yr warranty now.

Installed solar panels for us. Happy so far.
Edited: As of August 2023, this company appears to be going out of business and is in the process of filing for chapter 7 bankruptcy.

Company has filed for bankruptcy. I was lucky enough to get my system installed but now having issues and the company doesn't respond and the warranty is useless. Talking to an attorney to see what we can do and filed with the Ohio AG. I advise all current customers to do the same.

We had a great experience with Solar Is Freedom (previously American Dream Solar). We had quotes from multiple places, and they were the second cheapest quote we received, but we chose them over competitors because they were local, had good reviews, and had been installing roofs/solar for a while at that point. There was an issue with our panel placement because the team didn't have the latest drawings from engineering, but they came out and corrected the issue when we called it out with no problems. We recently discovered that they are not currently doing business and "restructuring" so we are concerned about them maintaining their portion of our 25 year warranty but our production is good and one year in we don't have issues with our installation that we can see.

8/22/2023 Update - I received this company's bankruptcy (Debtor: Antonio V. Ranieri) notice today. I feel lucky my solar array still functions, but obviously any future issues won't be covered under warranty.

Original 2020 post - When Adam first contacted me I really wasn’t too serious about going solar, but did want to get an idea of the whether it was feasible and how much it would cost. Once the proposal was generated and I evaluated the costs it really became a ‘no-brainer’. With interest rates so low and fixed, and federal tax credits still available, it really did make economic sense, not to mention it's also environmentally conscious. The process from quote to install was smooth and seamless. The install took place in one day, and the next day I was net-metering. IMO the panels do not detract from the beauty of my home and are hardly noticeable from the road. Very satisfied!

They installed our system with several issues that took months to fix and now they filed for bankruptcy.

08/22/23 looks like now it is bankrupt!

I have been a customer since October 2022. Installation process was smooth with some expected delays. However, once the system was started, it is not generating the power they had promised. I have been trying to get someone to look at the system. Every time their customer service says someone will be at my house. And this has been going on for weeks. Trust on the company is no more. I suggest not to go with this company at least in Ohio.

Update as of 03/05/23
I have changed my ratings to 4 stars since someone from customer service did call me and explained the situation. He even told me the reason for low production. I will keep an eye until summer and see how the system behaves.

This company went out of business and filed for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy on 8/15/2023. I will probably never see the $1,700 they overcharged me for my installation. Prior to that Sales and install was great, customer service after the install was terrible. They ignored repeated requests and made up lies about why they were unable to provide services or support. I will say I am mostly happy with the install and the quality of the materials and workmanship.

This is SOLAR IS FREEDOM don’t let them full you with their DBA name change. This company turning into fly by night business over night and took peoples money, left jobs unfinished and left every customer without warranty. I don’t know if their is criminal intent but I’d put money on it. Even my 30k install that now has zero warrant coverage cause they won’t answer the phone.

Been unable to contact anyone at this company. Have had an issue with roof install that is under their warranty but they will not address it because they don't answer or reply to emails.

I purchased a 4.4kw solar unit in 2022 and finally finished in July. System works fine but it seems that Solar is Freedom has gone out of business and no one has responded to any of my messages I have left and seems the 25 year warranty is useless now! Sonny my sales representative was great and hopefully he found a new job with a real solar company that doesn't pull this&rip off customers who were told that they have a 25 year warranty. I will change my review when and if they respond back to me with assuring me that I will be taken care of but I don't see this happening!

Stay away from this company!
They took our deposit (a goodly amount of money for us) to put solar panels on out porch roof. Then they decided the job was too small. We asked and asked for a refund, but they went radio silent. Then they layed off out sales rep, (with all the rest of their staff), who was trying also to get out deposit back.
They stopped responding to the better business bureau complaints and requests.
The company has scammed money out of people and I would sue them for fraud, but upon advice of legal counsel, it wouldn't cost us more then we would get back. If we got back anything. Avoid these people.

Cannot get ahold of anyone and the people I worked with through installation both said they were laid off. I’ll be contacting an attorney this week.

AVOID THIS COMPANY. We had our solar installed July 2022. Since our final payment, the company has basically dropped all responsibility with us. We had questions about our output and usage compared to our electric bill, and it took months before we were able to even get an answer that wasn't even helpful. Then, when we updated our home WiFi in March 2023 and haven't been able to reconnect it to the solar, we tried calling the company and emailing and texting our contacts there, but literally no one has contacted us back in over 6 weeks. Their answering machines all say that they are "not being monitored " as they are "going through reorganization. " It seems to me like the company doesn't exist anymore or something. What is going on? UPDATE: Solar is Freedom went bankrupt so we no longer have their contract.
