If you can have a different electric provider, do it. This company will take your paychecks and not care if you have any left. My bill went from $230 to almost $500. This is ridiculous especially when your energy usage has barely changed

If there was a way to leave negative stars I would. This company has had continuous power outages around Columbus with some lasting several hours to several days. I have lived in my home for 5 years and within the past 2 years there has been a sharp rise in unreliability. If there was another option, I would switch in a heart beat. This company is completely incompetent.

I swear if i had another option I would use it.the customer service at the place is absolutely awful and not very knowledgeable.if you call 12 times you’ll get 12 different answers.then a supervisor hung up on me because i was unsatisfied with his ability to handle the situation. Just completely unprofessional.

Description of complaint:
I have lived here 14 years and can count on one hand the times my power has went out. It has been out 6 times in 4 weeks for several hours at a time. Always an email that 1506 customers are affected. Clearly there is an issue with equipment in this area that aep is refusing to fix. There were no westher related issues on most of those instances. Even now it is hardly raining as I am typing this in the dark. They keep raigmsing our rates and asking for more money but their service is like living in a developing nation.

American Electric Power Company's CEO is Julie Sloat, appointed in Aug 2022, she has a tenure of less than a year. Her total yearly compensation is US$5.8m, comprised of 13.4% salary and 86.6% bonuses, including company stock and options. She directly owns 0.01% of the company's shares, worth US$4.3m. Maybe she should take a pay cut so we don't have to do this increase sounds like she makes more than enough maybe they ought to take it out of her salary instead of our paychecks

“American Electric Power annual gross profit for 2022 was $12.542B, a 10.74% increase from 2021. American Electric Power annual gross profit for 2021 was $11.326B, a 7.36% increase from 2020. “

But AEP is raising the electric rates tomorrow AND asked the PUCO to raise the rates AGAIN in summer of 2024. Absolutely ridiculous. Monopoly of a company and we have no choice but to suffer or move counties.

Absolutely great place that employees hard working people that keep the lights on. I mean the sacrifice this company's employees dedicate to the community is absolutely incredible.

My father is 92 with COPD and is on continuous flow oxygen. $500 a month bill! Set up payment arrangements and they still shut it off and demanded we pay the total amount has to to get it back on just to save my dad‘s life! My dad cannot go more than an hour without oxygen I was on the phone on hold for more than an hour with AEP! Shame on you for not caring about peoples lives.
