AOI Art of Interiors, West Chester Township OH

We called AOI in conjunction with a local contractor who refers out to them for certain jobs and have worked with Logan for months. We needed a full remodel of my in-laws’ new home close to ours. The job started out fairly simple but with several things going on with my in-laws’ health it got much more complicated than what we first requested as far as our own timeline, scope, etc. Logan has been supremely patient with the changes and complications. Brad has also been extremely informative and both provide lots of updates to keep me up-to-date as the project has going on. It’s not complete yet but I feel comfortable with the work that I’ve seen so far leaving a review for their results as well as their reliability, flexibility, and work ethic. By the time we found them we were really desperate to get things done and they have made it happen as seamlessly as possible. I am so grateful and plan on recommending this company for anyone with the same needs. Scope of work has included trim for the entire home including finishing work, laying hardwood floors, and tile. I am so ecstatic about the hardwood floors we just had installed by Art of Interiors! We have worked with our fair share of contractors while renovating our home and this team is extremely professional and considerate. I'm not one who ever reviews companies but I do need to share my experience with our hardwood flooring project in our new home:

Positives: The crew that Art of Interior outsourced the job to was good. Mike the crew lead was very transparent and did everything we asked directly of him.

Negatives:

- Art originally quoted the project at a little over $4000. When he did his onsite quote, he did not do a thorough check of the existing hardwood because we were shocked to learn that the floors that were to be refinished were engineered hardwood and likely would not be able to be refinished. This is a new house for us and Art implied that it was my fault he missed that as he "didn't know they were engineered wood. "

- Mike the crew lead called and let me know they sanded through the engineered hardwood on the second day of the project. As as result, we had to replace all the wood in the kitchen. As upset as I was, things happen and I was moving my family into this home so I wanted the project to be done properly. We discussed the changes, additional costs (or so we thought), preferences for the install and waited the week for the new wood to acclimate.

- The install started the following week. I discussed a flush header board as a transition into one room of the house with Art of Interiors. That was not communicated to the crew and as such, they didn't install one. There are saw marks on my island and cabinets where they had to cut in. There is stain all over my drywall. I understand things happen when you do a project like this and AOI gave me a $200 discount because of the cut marks and the stain on the drywall. I agreed and wanted to move forward because I really wanted this project to be over.

- The crew moved my oven to install the new hardwood that had to be installed because of the Engineered hardwood issue. After the polyurethane cured, we moved the oven back in place. The oven now takes 45 minutes to pre-heat. When I brought this up to Art of Interiors, they said, "If you can prove we broke it, we will talk about how to get it fixed. " As such, I am now out of pocket to have my oven fixed or replaced.

- The invoice came after this saga and it was more than I expected. Mind you, I already expected a 100% increase from the original quoted price since we had to put in all new hardwood floors in the kitchen (that wasn't expected). When I asked Art of Interior about the increase they said the extra $1000+ was for the demo of the floors in the kitchen. While I understand that probably was a cost, it was not communicated to me prior to the work being done. They also were supposed to leave a bit of stain so I could match my railing to the new hardwood color. They did not leave that stain.

I have 3 friends who want to have hardwood flooring work done in their homes (and I communicated that to Art). I also have a carpet project that I need to have done ASAP in my current home. I will not be recommending of using Art of Interior.

I have been selling real estate in South Western Ohio for over a decade and I recommend AOI for all of my clients flooring needs. Great local service and their prices are unbeatable. Always are quick to respond for quotes for my clients.

Only giving one star so I can comment. The day they were supposed to lay the flooring they came out with samples.no flooring. I showed them what I had order and they said it isn’t in stock. I would have to come pick out something else or settle for a floor I didn’t originally pick. This was for my entire house. How pathetic is this.never will I ever recommend or purchase from again
