Aristocrat at Fairway Marchmont, Shaker Heights OH

One month ago, I moved to this apartment after inspecting it with my neighbors due to a boiler failure in our previous place. Before moving in, I asked the agent about included utilities, specifically heating. Despite being assured it was included, the agreement I received later made no mention of heating. Despite multiple email attempts to clarify and sign the contract, a month later, the agent denied mentioning heating and claimed it's included in the electricity bill. I chose not to sign and decided to wait for my bill. To my surprise, the bill was $434, much higher than expected, as I now had to pay for rent and heat, which I was not informed about. It serves as a reminder to carefully review leases before moving in to avoid such issues.

The buildings are very dated and could really use some basic updating that would benefit both ROCO and tenants. However, they are also beautiful units in a great neighborhood. Clean and well managed.
Update. I have lived here for over a year now. Management is terrible (main Aristocrat building), they seem to lose paperwork, the parking area is not monitored, and with already limited parking spaces, there is never anywhere to park. My water is undrinkable and comes out with rusty setiment. My windows are extremely outdated and are not sealed. Bugs get in, and whatever the weather is like outside, I feel it inside. Hallways are dirty, smelly and straight up ugly, as is the elevator. No central AC, and with the poor windows, running window units is extremely expensive and not very sustainable. Management lies. I frequently get notices on my door stating I owe some amount of money, however I pay the exact same rent and utilities every month, so I don't know where these charges come from. I then have to take time out of my day to visit the leasing office and deal with unpleasant staff to explain to them, then they tell me they made a mistake and I don't owe anything. I would call but they don't answer the phone a majority of the time, nor do they return calls or emails. What a joke. I expect better from Shaker Heights.
