As a real estate agent, I work with a wide array of title companies - Assured Title was the title company working on a personal purchase / closing of mine. It was easily one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a title company (and I've seen some things).

We asked several times who our escrow officer would be so my team and I could have someone to correspond with and we were told they don't assign one until closing (this is NOT the norm for those who don't know and extremely odd). So we dealt with several different people during the process which made the whole ordeal rather confusing.

We sent in our earnest money check, a personal check (again a standard option), and they never told us they do not accept personal checks so they never cashed it- until closing when they could magically accept personal checks. This was never communicated, it took my lender prying to find out what they did with a several thousand dollar check.

Being that our primary residence is over an hour away from their office, we requested a mobile notary (which they charged us $175 for). It's not completely out of the ordinary to charge for such services, but it's not really a standard, especially with the title companies I typically use. They also acted like this request was a major inconvenience for them and suggested we "just find our own notary". (The one shining light was the notary - she was wonderful)

They never reached out to let me know that the house had filed and funded. It took my closing coordinator calling (the first two numbers she tried, which are listed on their website, were disconnected numbers) to get an answer where Val rudely just answered "yes" and said nothing else like this isn't her literal job. My lender also reached out to get confirmation and they never got back to her. If we didn't reach out, I feel like they would have never told us.

They didn't actually file with the county until the 15th but told us all was done on the 14th, so I'm not even confident that she did know that it had filed.

Just a complete mess. Terrible communication, if you need a title company, pick absolutely any other option.

Professional and amazing communication. Kim, Ari, and Mark are especially easy to work with!

We were first time home buyers in the midst of a pandemic. We chose Assured Title to handle the closing of our new home. We spoke to Lisa on the phone to get all business in order before coming into the office and she patiently answered all of our questions.

Once it came time to come into the office to go over and sign paperwork, Trisha sat down with us. She explained everything to us in a professional and friendly manner. They were very organized in our transaction and I would highly recommend them to others!

I'll make this easy for you in case you don't feel like reading this entire review. I don't recommend using this Title Agency.

We just bought a house in Sycamore, and the seller chose this company, not us. They were a complete nightmare to work with. When I called to ask a question, "Val" seemed annoyed that she even had to answer the phone. She then (for no reason) told me that my husband would also have to be at closing, which had nothing to do with why I was calling, and was kind of a "duh" thing to say.

When our closing date came, we got a call from our realtor during our 2 hour drive to their office that they had not scheduled us for closing that day, even though the closing date had been scheduled for quite some time. Evidently they hadn't received a document from the bank so they refused to put us on the schedule, even though they knew they were going to get the document. Our realtor let us know that this was weird, unprofessional, and basically just unheard of.

The only pleasant part of the experience of working with them was the person who did our closing (I think the owner.) He was nice enough and the actual closing itself was relatively easy.

Today (Feb 1), we received a bill in the mail for the previous year's taxes. When I called Assured to ask about it, the young lady I spoke with first told me that we were on the hook for the tax bill for the entire previous year.simply because we owned the house for 15 days in 2020. I was like, "Um, you didn't withhold that money from the transaction to pay the county? " Well, then she decided to take a look. Evidently that had withheld the first half, but not the second.and just credited a prorated second half to us. 15 days? Seriously? You prorated 15 days? Why not just withhold the entire year and pay the taxes for the previous year like a NORMAL title agency? That's why ours did on the sale of our previous home. But NOOO.that's not the way Assured works. They're on a mission to make things as difficult as they can and do as little work as possible.remember, they're annoyed if you even call to ask questions. So then, this young lady I was talking to told me that the county holds the checks until the due date.you know.just to make sure no other payments come in. WHAT!? ! Have YOU ever known a goverment agency to just "hold" a payment? You know, just in case? I haven't.

So, because I don't trust this company, I called the county about it. Guess what? Do you think they had received a check? NOPE! So then the county called assured Title on my behalf to check on this. Next, I got a phone call back from Assured letting me know that THEY are holding the check until the due date. Um. Why? Just pay it, please. But it's their "Policy" to hold the check. Yeah. I get it.it's a policy of hold on to the money and make as much interest off of it as possible until you absolutely HAVE to pay it on the due date. I don't know about you, folks. But I like to pay my bills and get them out of the way. Oh yeah, the tone of her voice when she called me back made is SUPER clear she was annoyed that I called the county because I didn't trust them.

Anyway.save yourself the frustration and AVOID Assured Title. The only thing you're ASSURED to get is a headache dealing with the unprofessionalism of the people that work there (especially "Val") and silly processes they have. I think they have the tendency to forget that they are "the help". They're being paid for a service, but for some reason they think they call the shots? That's not the way the service industry works.
