Backstage Eats and Drinks, Sylvania OH

Absolutely love the staff, food and drinks. Ella and staff are so hospitable and ensure a fine dining experience!

We visited here on a whim and happy we did. We both ordered the cod sandwich and it was delicious! The fries were also perfectly cooked. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and accommodating. Bus boys circulated through the dining room, promptly clearing plates. Our first trip was a success and we'll be back.

This place is AMAZING! The atmosphere is fun! People laughing and visiting each other! The servers are very friendly! They greet you with a smile. The owners and chef (Jenny and Ella, we
Love you) will visit your table to check how things are! The menu is unique! There are items you can’t get anywhere! Smoked chicken wings? Oh yes they have them! They are the best! I’ve tried every appetizer and I can’t pick my favorite! The chicken balls are great and the Buffalo califlower is HUGE! Enough to share or take home! (I’ve done both!). The BamBam shrimp has the right amount of spicy flavor and could be a small meal! You get 6! They have a fried cod sandwich that is crispy, not fishy and has a light yummy flavor! The salmon is tender and flakey! Let’s talk Mac/cheese—- so so cheesy and rich with flavor! I love to look for the specials! The week we were there was a Polish special with enough food for two people or two meals! I HIGHLY recommend this new local business! If you are looking for a wonderful, new, unique and flavorful dining experience THIS IS THE PLACE!

Food is fresh and well prepared. Menu changes due to what meets the quality expectations of the chef.

Our first trip was unfortunately on a concert night with a limited menu - kids menu but only lemonade to drink. We waited ten min to be acknowledged after we were seated.

The servers were kind and apologetic for most of the problems. They did complain to us about other customers which was uncomfortable but we were trying to be understanding.

The pop was flat and we had to ask to even have it removed from the bill after they went the whole hour without changing the CO2 - obviously we got no discount despite being incredibly understanding for a LOT of mishaps.

It was NOT worth the high price tag or the news hype at all. We were shocked that two kids meals and two sandwiches was $80 on a limited menu.

We might try on a non concert night one more time but other recent reviews seemed to have similar experiences so probably not worth the $$

I’m not one to make a bad review, but after this experience I felt it was needed. Not only did the food take 40 minutes on a slow night but when it came out flavorless and cold.the drinks took another 20 minutes and this bite to eat turned into 2 hours of waiting around. This would have never happened back when it was the cantina. So disheartening to not see any of the familiar faces that treated us like family. Makes me so sad to see another family owned businesses go down hill. I’ve heard a lot of bad things but i really wanted it to be proved wrong. I guess they really don’t care about the Sylvania clientele after all.

Giving it a one start because the food is over priced for what you are getting, every-time I’ve been in there it has not been good, others I know have said the same, old ownership used to have great service but since the new owners took over everyone has left because they were treated poorly. All of us regulars are gone. Highly would not recommend spending your money here.

Great food! Sure it might take a little longer than the chain restaurants, but the food is fresh. Had the burger it was good, maybe a tad over done but flavor was great. Also tried the cod sandwich and the caprese chicken. The cod was amazing and likely the only thing I'll get moving forward.it was that good. Now for the best part the dessert. The bread pudding is a must. It's enough to share and you get a nice mix of donuts. Raspberry jelly filled, one a custard. I love donuts and this takes the donut and steps it up a notch. It was split amongst the table. The kids said it was the best night ever. My daughter said she could drink the ranch dressing that she had with her broccoli. I'll be back. Thank you for giving Toledo something different.

This was our first visit and it will be our last. After being ignored, sitting at the table for 15 minutes, nobody bothered to come and even greet us. After I flagged down another server and asked her who our server was, she said she didn’t know, but she would find out. She comes back five minutes later and says she couldn’t find our server but she’s still looking. Eventually, some other server came and took our order. We ordered an appetizer which was not good and I would not recommend it was the dip trio which was horrible. It took forever to get our drinks, and then we finally got our order in for food. 45 minutes to almost an hour later our food arrives. Mind you people have come in sat down ordered their food got their food ate their food pay for their meal and left, and we have still yet to receive our food. Nobody checked on us nobody said anything. Our food comes and it was OK I got to say it wasn’t horrible. I get the bill and I was floored that for bar food for my husband and I and my son came to $112. We each had one drink and one meal. When did bar food get so expensive? I will never go to this restaurant again and I would not recommend it to anyone.

We saw the polish dinners advertised with reservations recommended. I called and made reservations. Show up on time. Sit. Have a drink. 30 minutes later they tell us they sold out. No apology. I had to force comped drinks. Totally a waste of our evening. Don’t waste your time.

The owner slandered me on my post by saying we ‘stole’ the two comped drinks
That we had while we waited 40 minutes to be told they didn’t have our food. With this treatment of customers I doubt this horrible restaurant will be around long.

Applicants and Patrons beware!

Let me start by saying…

BRING BACK THE CANTINA!

When Backstage took over for The Cantina, they had big shoes to fill… those in which Backstage is clearly unable to come anywhere close to filling!

The Cantina was known for its delicious inexpensive food and quick and family friendly service! Going into the Cantina sometimes multiple nights a week for our family was always a treat!

In my opinion these two owners obviously have no clue on what it takes to open, run and maintain a successful restaurant. When dining at this restaurant many red flags can be seen in a short time just by sitting and observing!

The way the owners treat each other, their staff and even their patrons- paying to be there… is beyond unprofessional! For example; one owner coming out into the dining room on one of the opening nights yelling into the restaurant at the patrons to be patient after waiting for food for over 45+ minutes- if you were not ready to open, you shouldn’t have! The owners having drama with each other and letting it be known to staff and patrons is the most childish thing I have ever seen! You are supposed to be running a professional business! The staff members- some of who have been there many years are sadly now gone- that also says something about a business!

Backstage started off bad and continues to get worse! The food is overpriced, mediocre (at best) and does not ever come out in a timely- whether there is one person dining there or fifty!

The Cantina was a staple for Sylvania residents and now that it is gone I’m sure many Sylvania residents are sadden and looking for somewhere similar to dine- unfortunately Backstage is not the place for us! By the looks of it- Backstage won’t be able to survive and hopefully The Cantina will return!

I am only giving it one star because I have to- but this is definitely deserves negative stars!

This place is absolutely garbage, DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME HERE…

Bring back the Cantina!

The drinks are interestingly crafted and excellent.
The food is very good - excellent ingredients and quality.
The kielbasa soup tasted like what my busia made.
I will be trying Thursday Polish food night next week.

Very limited menu, food is over priced, and it took forever to get our food. We will definitely not be returning!

Loved the pulled pork sandwich as well as the fries. The pretzel bites is why I gave four stars bc the cheese had no taste and the pretzel bites seemed microwaved. The chocolate cake was awesome! Overall, had a very good dinner

Owner, Ella Dudek has an up and coming restaurant. If you visit or live in the area, it's a great place to take family or friends. Great tasting food with good portions!

Not impressed. Was looking forward to eating here based on the piece we saw on the news. I got a garden salad with chicken which was just lettuce 4 cucumbers and 2 tomato slices like you would put on a sandwich. Not worth $15. The other food was ok. I understand it’s all made to order but you would expect it to be hot when it hits the table. Everything was warm almost room temperature. The one thing I did notice is if you were friends with the chef you got top priority. Probably won’t go back and will not be recommending it. Do yourself a favor go to Inside the five or the VI.

Service was great but the burgers smelled bad and the cheese on it stuck to my front teeth and the chips to the queso were stale and also the food took a long time to come out and it wasn’t good food.

Stopped in with some girlfriends before a show so only got appetizers.could not get enough of the quacamole or queso cheese dip! Can't wait to come back for the fried bologna sandwich!

Food was great. We were there with friends of the chef. Had a selection of appetizers. Everything was good. Tried the Mac n cheese and the BBQ pulled pork too. Yumm!
We’ll be going back.
