Black River Reservation Days Dam reviews
17This is a very nice park, The trail is paved and great for biking. The trail goes from Lorain to Elyria but not sure exactly how many miles that is, maybe 8 miles.
The Days Dam section of the park is beautiful - you can access it through the walking path by the river from Cascade (it's about a half mile walk on a paved path/sidewalk), or via the paved ramp down from the very small parking space up at the top of the hill. The park has two pavilions and several picnic tables, a restroom, power outlets and grills and a little playground as well as tons of open space for running/playing/exploring.
The playground in the area isn't really safe/accessible/usable by little kids - there are climbing features and a slide but no real ladder or safety features. Probably wouldn't advise bringing your toddlers here if you're wanting a playground for them to run around on, but it's beautiful for gatherings in temperate weather and for walking all year round.
Love walking here, is very relaxing, the view is just simply beautiful, and you can come alone, with your family, friends, everybody i have seem walking by is very nice, also it's pet friendly.
Well paved paths and even the trails that go off into the forest are easy to navigate. The waterfall is about a mile into the walk and is worth seeing if you can get close enough. I’d definitely walk this area again
Excellent place to kayak and explore. You can see lots of turtles, occasionally cranes and if you're really lucky the occasional bald eagle or raccoon.
When I heard the name for this place I thought it was called Dave's Dam. I was incorrect. But I will never stop calling it Dave's dam.
Love the scenery and how quiet it can be, the roads are honestly lovely to walk down, the fishing is one of the best places ive ever fished in. When i have kids ill take them here!
I love this place, been coming since I've been a kid. They have updated the trails with new mile markers and it's always a real clean place to go for a jog or a bike ride. Definitely recommend going If you have a family or just want to get some exercise.
If you get near the falls a sad place for illegal dumping. Car engines at base of falls used tires all over. There was a refrigerator as well. Figured metroparks would keep on and cleanup
If they spent less time harassing hikers and fisherman here and more time making sure there is no dumping going on, the park would probably be a much more pleasant place to visit. The beach at the end of the cottonwood trail has a bunch of garbage left on it. Its really an eyesore. Also, to the left of the wooden boy scouts walk way there is currently so much trash that it looks like a homeless camp.
Nice park with a nice hidden waterfall. I am surprised it kind of dirty and not highlighted at all and no trail leading to it. It's off the trail a little bit and would be nicer if they cleaned the area up a bit
Beautiful clean environment. The trails are really nice to walk and just look at nature. Everything was surprisingly clean, very very little litter which is absolutely awesome.
There is a privation with quite a bit of picnic tables if you wanted to sit down in the shade and eat. There is also a play ground right next to it so small children can play.
There are cement pathways for you to walk on that are in perfect condition for the main trail. Then there are trails that branch off of that that are just normal ground. The trail for the waterfall is woodchips and then it goes to natures ground so it can get a bit muddy in some spots.
It was a wonderful time to just walk around and listen to nature.
Beautiful place. Nice and easy paths to walk. Was my first time here, as I live 2 hours away and was just in the area. The waterfalls are gorgeous and must be seen.
Love this place its clean, lots of trails within the trail. Park Ranger make rounds, trash cans along the trail, dog station to ensure you don't step in poop. Benches to sit and just look out at the river, bike riders, runners and walkers are out. There is a park for the children, a water station, there is also water hydrants/faucets throughout the trail. There isn't enough to say!
Walking the trail was a pleasure. Hearing all the different birds and we also got to see 3 deers which was beautiful to see. Peaceful to walk thru.
Nice, easily traversed trails that are well kept. Some great photo opportunities along the way. At one point along the path there is a long bridge that crossed the river, providing an excellent view up and down the river. The highlight of the day was seeing the waterfall.
Paved, shared path along black river. Saw 2 eagles, one egret, red shoulder hawk, coopers hawk and a blue bird. The waterfall is ok. Would be much nicer without the trash.
