Burr Oak Lodge & Conference Center reviews
14We stayed in a cabin. They seem to be designed to only be a place for you to crash for sleeping and are not "cozy" in any way. The furniture in the living room is punishing, it is so uncomfortable. It's so stripped down there isn't even salt and pepper, a decent sized coffee mug or a bowl big enough for a can of soup. You would have to bring EVERYTHING in your house to be comfortable here including pillows to help with the uncomfortable couch and chairs, every single seasoning you might need to cook, every single pot, pan, dish, bowl, etc.to make food. Our hot water quit working after two days, but the big winter storms made that a problem a lot of places including in other cabins (so I heard). The heat was very responsive, that's about all I can say.
Conveniently located, clean updated cabins. One complaint, which we have addressed in writing and verbally for a few years. The parking. Very limited and the few spots allocated for each cabin are not marked in any way. There is no way to know which spot belongs to which cabin. During deer hunting season arguments have occured over not enough areas to park and people parking in "wrong" spots. Simply painting the cabin number on the parking blocks would rectify this issue.
ANY kind of identification of assigned parking spots would be very helpful.
Beautiful place. Nice pool. Staff was okay. Our server was amazing for a Huge group of people, other servers stood around while they could have helped with refills or something but our server ran around and busted his butt did a great job. Food was all really good! Bar drink was good. New outside areas are beautiful and have nice places to sit, Only thing I would say that could use improvement are the bathrooms /changing area attatched to the pool doors old with no locks, and didn't even close!
For some fall hiking we had a midweek stay in a lake view room with an adjacent patio. The whole place exceeded our expectations. It seems that some upgrades have been done including paint, bedding, lamps with electrical outlets, and good quality room refrigerator. Bathroom was tiny however a second sink/vanity outside the bathroom was most welcome. Tub/shower area were very clean with no mildew. Lodge dining room provided very good food and service. Breakfast was a buffet that is usually chargeable but was included in a special room package we booked. We would visit again without question.
We go up here to walk around and take in the sites. Look up there website. There's a lot to do.
Great weekend getaway with lots of hiking trails and a beautiful lake with plenty of good fishing and also boat rentals. The indoor swimming pool is clean and very nice. Horseback riding and golf are also nearby and well worth mentioning. The on site restaurant has a limited but well put together menu and also a great view of the lake.
If I could give this Lodge a 0, I would. I was so disappointed with this place, that we checked out early. If the price to stay is so high, atleast give your guest a modern room. The room was so outdated. The carpet in the room and hallway was so disgusting. On Sunday, I asked for a drink and was told the bar closed at 8pm. Really? What kind of bar closes that early? Our room came with breakfast. My food was cold and the biscuits were hard as rocks. I get better breakfast at a fast food restaurant. I went to get a snack from the vending machines. Had nothing. So, I went to the poor excuse of a gift shop to get snacks. Waited 10mins for someone to come to the desk to cash us out. Save your money and go somewhere else. This place was not worth the money or drive. Next time, I'll stay at a Holiday Inn. This place sucks.
Nice clean cabins and hotel, really good food selection and very nice staff. We've stayed here many times and would strongly suggest this place for those looking for getaway by the lake, in the woods to just recharge. Awesome location. Very therapeutic!
We are working our way through the Ohio State Park passport book.
Beautiful grounds. Campers and workers were friendly as always. We stayed at lot40. Partial shade. Good cell service. Directly beside the camp store. It was busy on Friday and Saturday, but nothing really bad. The lake was nice. Had a big beach, the lodge direct across from beach. With a nice dinning room for dinner and an indoor clean pool. The shower houses were clean. A marina and another lock that can be found from boat or road. Got our stamp for our book and a sticker for our slide out. Thank you Burr Oak Lake for a memorable trip.
Only had a 2 day stay and staff was very friendly. When we got to our room the refrigerator was not cooling and went to front desk and within 10 minutes the maintenance man showed up and replaced it. Thank you maintenance man. The food was good and the lake views were great. Will be returning next fall.
Cabins are beautiful inside! We stayed in a pet friendly cabin and loved it! Dee the bartender was awesome and friendly! Beautiful state park. Looking forward to visiting again.
First time there and it was awesome! My husband and I do the Ohio state parks with our dog. Will be back to Burr for sure! Beautiful place.
Was in a Handicap room. My mom had a hard time getting up in bed. Just a little to high. And I think the toilet paper was on the wrong side of the wall (meaning when you set down its to your left and not the right side where you wouldnt feel like your going to fall trying to reach it). I figured it would be a shower instead of shower/bath tub to make it easier to get in the shower. But it was a nice room over all
Very relaxing. Great food, atmosphere, and the patio rooms are the absolute best! Love the outside access for some night fishing or sitting by the fire. Lake is beautiful, but has a horsepower limit. Long winding lake
