Spent over $700 in 2 trips to Colyer Truck Repair and our truck is still stalling and breaking down at the side of the road. And of course they say there is nothing more they can do than hook it up to a computer (again) and complete more repairs which may or may not actually fix the problem.

We have dealt with Colyer's in the past, and they did great work! However, this time we take our truck in, they "diagnose" it and tell us they can't do the work (which consists of struts on the front), to take it to Bob Sumerel, though still charging us $175 as a fee for looking at it. I find that a bit excessive, seeing as they did zero work on it! Such a shame, because we really had liked dealing with them.

It's not Colyers, Its owned an operated by Truckpro LLC. Colyers did great work, Truckpro does not. Management is not honest in any way, shape, or form. Overpriced Labor and inept knowledge of how Trucks operate an how they are repaired. Truckpro has significantly diminished the Qaulity of work the Colyer Family had established for over 40 plus years.

One of the L Arms on my tow truck cracked at the joint. The cracked section had to be cut out and new plate welded in to complete the repair and reinforce the joint. I coincidentally had the exact same repair done 9 mos prior to the same truck but just the opposite side. That repair cost me $129.74. I brought the truck over and had Perry look at the unit with his lead welder and they both agreed about an hours worth of labor plus some material. I said great let's do it. Later the same evening they called me to let me know the truck was ready and so I reached in my pocket to pay with a card and was informed the total was $460. Shocked, I inquired why the price was so high. I was told by Dan (night shift mgr) the job was really three hours of labor, used more material and of course added $40 in disposable "shop materials" plus tax (never mind I am tax exempt and completed the required paperwork with them on two occasions previously). No one called me, no one asked or consulted me regarding a 255% increase for the same repair from a year prior. Since it was after hours, I couldn't get the issue resolved.

When I arrived the next morning I spoke with Perry who originally quoted the job. He agreed the price was WRONG and in his words Bad Business! He was very contrite and apologetic but said he couldn't do anything about it. I have dealt with Perry before and found him to be knowledgeable and a man of his word.

I was directed to speak with Brent.

Brent and I discussed the problem and I told him I felt like I was quoted an hour and I should be charged for an hour. Brent went on to lament they had more time and material in it than what was quoted. After 25.mins of discussion he offered me a price concession to $375. I refused and I asked him to explain to me why I shouldn't think I was getting anything but jerked around!

That meeting went on for another 40 mins with Brent whining and complaining and objecting every step of the way. He even had the office ladies pull my ticket for the previous repair 9 mos ago (confirmed the $129.74). I explained to him I could buy an entire new L arm for $390. He even had Perry come in and re-verify (which he did) that I was quoted 1hr plus some metal stock for the entire repair. I heard everything from it was the "new computer system" to the new ownership to the next time they are just going to quote the job on a time and materials basis.

Let me be clear, this was a straight forward uncomplicated weld job that anyone around town would do for $100 or less. I had the same two guys who repaired the truck previously 9 mos.prior quote the same repair. This was, in my opinion, just a flat out attempt to RIP me off.

When it was all said and done, Brent wasted an hour+ of my time and ultimately ended up reducing the bill to $180 which included $10 in tax because they couldn't figure out how to take it off. That's still $40 more than I expected or wanted to pay but I did just to move on.

This place is poorly run, set poor expectations and the to have an incredulous tone and attitude with the fact I was disputing the bill was enough to ensure I will never be back again!
