Cambria Hotel Columbus - Polaris

I chose this place based upon it being the most expensive option available in Columbus on my Choice Hotels app, and I wanted to splurge for a luxury stay for my fiance's birthday weekend. We are both essential workers who have been burned out during the pandemic.

We arrived at the hotel around 3: 05 PM. We walked inside, and a friendly middle-aged blonde white woman (did not catch her name) was at the desk. When I checked in she gave us the option for the 3rd floor or 4th floor (top floor). I was happy because I have never before checked in at a hotel and given the option to select a floor or room; the associate usually just picks for me. Wanting to guarantee no noisy upstairs neighbors I selected the top floor.

We entered our room (#406) and were blown away by how nice it was. This is the most luxurious Choice Hotel I have ever stayed at. This room was truly a suite in that in addition to the bathroom and bedroom areas there was also an intermediary area for a living room with a second TV and a sectional couch. There was also a desk area with hook-ups if you wanted to sit and work on your laptop.

The beds? Not the comfiest I have ever slept on. The linens? Very nice. The room itself was extremely clean. When we entered the room it was warm and stuffy, but after tinkering with the air conditioner it became comfortable quickly. The view is typical for Columbus-chain stores and parking lots-nothing special.

The bathroom? Superb! We have both enjoyed taking lot hot soaking bubble baths (we stopped at Target to buy some bubble bath solution). The Delta shower head has a pulsating option that is VERY strong-it felt so soothing to have that water jackhammering the soreness of pandemic stress out of our shoulders and backs! The sink is an elevated basin one (not my cup of tea, but I realize they are popular now). The mirror seemed to have some sort of built-in capability to connect to a device to play music or movies, but we couldn't figure it out. This was the first room I ever stayed in that had a "smart" mirror. The room also had a mini-fridge and microwave. There was also a Keurig coffee maker and some K-cups, cream, and sugar.

I walked around the room barefoot, and my feet did not look dirty, so that tells me they properly clean the rooms between guests.

I also liked that they have Tesla chargers. I am planning to buy a Tesla in a few years and always appreciate businesses that include this infrastructure.

Some cons?

-Due to the positioning of the air conditioner beneath the window only the sheer curtain (not the blackout curtain) is built to be fully-drawn at night, which means the room is still somewhat illuminated by the parking lot and traffic lights in the area.

-No hot breakfast available. I may be an odd duck, but I just miss pre-COVID-19 where a hotel like this would have a few metal serving dishes out with a few pairs of metal tongs and would offer self-serve scrambled eggs and sausage patties. We spent more money buying breakfast out, which was unfortunate.

-The rooms are quieter than MOST hotels I have stayed at but are still not THE quietest. We heard the guests in the room next to ours working on making a baby. Then again that is to be expected from a hotel-I think.

-The bathroom towels are a bit on the worn side and weren't the most absorbent when you were trying to dry off after a bath or shower.

Overall, though, this is the nicest Choice Hotel I have ever stayed at and one of the nicest (albeit not the nicest) hotel in general we have stayed at. This would be our top choice when we return to Columbus!

It was quiet and close to our plans. The room was clean but the sitting area outside was not clean. Unfortunately, no breakfast and no pool, which in my opinion, should have warranted a discount. We only encountered one staff member and he was quite pleasant. Would consider another stay or a hotel in the same area.

We were extremely disappointed that the pool & hot tub were closed. We appreciate transparency & do not believe that was achieved on this visit. While that isn't a deal-breaker for most it was for us because our son hand-picked this hotel that was 15 minutes further than needed from our destination based solely on the pool & hot tub advertised (this was a trip for his birthday). We also sacrificed continental breakfast that was available at closer hotels. At minimum guests should receive an email if any advertised amenities aren't available during their scheduled stay. The bathroom tissue box cover had make-up fingerprints on it & behind the bolted mirror hadn't been cleaned for quite some time as it was visibly dusty, there was a piece of trash & a bouncy ball left behind it as well. The positives: everything else appeared to be clean, the 2 T. V. 's were nice & our son LOVED the Bluetooth mirror in the bathroom. We probably won't choose this hotel again as there are many closer options to our annual destination with pools/hot tubs & continental breakfast as well for the same price.

Very quiet & clean, and staff is courteous. Room furniture like the desk chair could be replaced very worn furniture doesn't fit in with well kept building.

The pool was closed. The bar closed at 10 they stopped offering breakfast. Poorly ran hotel. The shower was broken.

I had a few issues with my stay. However the GM Chad took care of everything. As a advid Choice hotel fan, it was refreshing to know that when issues arrise the Managers step up a correct issues! Thank you Chad!

My husband decided to surprise me with a weekend getaway so he brought me to the Cambria Hotel. He picked Cambria because it has a hot tub in the room and room service. Little did he know that room service isn't available on Sundays and Mondays. For the price he paid and what we got, I feel he overpaid and he felt bad about bringing me there. The hot tub was nice though and we ate at Cheesecake Factory which is nearby so we didn't starve.

If you want honesty don’t book here!

They front desk representative Ethan is disrespectful and unhelpful. I reached out to the hotel prior to making the booking and the confirmed the requests I made were available although when it came to checking in even though I was willing to pay an additional fee they got rude and said no (late check out).

The front desk worker was continually no help to me during this time and refused multiple times to get a manager. Considering he was the one who told me late check out was available. I have yet to make it to the room due to his inability to help people. I only hope that the management is able to get this situation solved.

Room was nice with jacuzzi tub. Loved that there was TV in there. Pool needs some maintenance. Hot tub doesn't work and the ladder to get in pool is broken.

Stayed here for a weekend. The price was good. The staff was super friendly. The room needed an upgrade, we had peeling wallpaper and water stains on the ceiling but other than that it was pretty nice.

We stayed over night here. I did not sleep well. We went down for breakfast waited for service, We had to ask for assistance.

The Cambria Polaris was a nice place to stay. The room we stayed in had a nice suite, so it was very comfortable for our stay. The hotel was near many stores and restaurants, which we enjoyed.

I love this place I loved to stay here and my family comes to visit they do as well even thou some of my family only lives 10 minutes away they always have an excuse to stay. I am getting married in a couple of years and will have my guest stay here it's a very nice hotel. People are really nice.

I stayed overnight after a friend's wedding. The room had a kingsize bed and a pullout couch, and everything was SPOTLESS. In the morning, we had breakfast served to us in one of the conference rooms: food was fresh, hot, and delicious, with plenty of coffee and juices to choose from. An excellent hotel.

Clean, great customer service. Rooms were delightful, very updated and roomy. Only complaint was the AC kept cutting out, and when it was working it made some pretty annoying noises. Other than that, great location, customer service was always quick to assist.

The hotel was great. The room was beatiful and the front desk was more then happy to help woth anything.

Beautiful hotel. Service was good. No towels in the pool area. Also the pool was very small. Pull out couch not very comfortable and must order sheets for that.

First stop on our honeymoon road trip, and have never been to such a beautiful hotel ever! Wonderful staff, classy, and amazing room service & food! We spent half our time in the amazing jacuzzi and the bed was so comfy, we didn’t want to leave! A little pricey, but hey, you pay for quality. We are looking forward to stopping back in very soon!

This hotel had comfortable beds, an outstanding staff.especially Mitch, a great pool, and a nice roomy bathroom. There were a couple minor things that could've been a little better such as the hair dryer had a gross film all over it and it would be nice if there was a breakfast included and a vent in the bathroom. None of these were a deal breaker. Overall, we enjoyed our stay! Quality, friendly staff makes all the difference!

Very nice and beautiful place! Rooms are nice. The beds are comfortable. The staff is very nice and they always have a smile on there faces. The price was very reasonable for the area. Definitely will be back to stay!
