Capital Lighting reviews
6Very nice place to get lighting fixtures and all the staff are very friendly and helpful
I think the reviews for Capital Lighting are skewed lower because there is a bit of square peg going into a round hole situation. I have gotten lights from them via building with R&H (a few houses ago) and then via designer. I also get some stuff direct from the manufacturer or online store. I am an individual but I often get higher priced lights.
Lighting fixtures in my opinion are various levels of horrible. You can spend $800 (mid-range I guess) on a light and it will still have missing parts. I accept this as just how lighting works. I will say Kichler was amazing; but still the build quality for price still left me only happy comparing it to a lower end model and it being relatively much nicer.
My interactions with Capital Lighting directly (after working with an external designer) were great. They tried to get me the extra part; that failed so we ordered the light again. Yep this has taken 6 weeks; but my expectations for lighting are low; and Capital Lighting cannot make the stuff come in faster. And if I had done this online; I would be dealing with a shipping mess.
So 4 stars feels right. I am not even sure a lighting store can be 5 stars; so on the relative scale maybe Capital is 5 stars.) But 3.5 is way to low.
They have great selections you can see at 1 location. Quality products but you pay a higher cost, which is expected. My first experience was discussing the lighting layout in the custom house and they knocked out of the park. I would recommend to anyone to check out their show room. Seeing the products in person makes a difference.
Amazing lighting showroom! Staff was incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, & friendly. Usually pretty busy and the staff are personally attentive, so best not to be in a hurry or you may also schedule an appointment. Amazing lighting that is also fairly pricey.
It looks like poor service is a theme with this place. We were sent in by our contractor for a significant amount of lighting. After asking if she could help us, the sales person basically lost interest. She basically said they didn't have what we needed but didn't really look to see what was in stock. If they don't want to deal with the general public they should only be open for contractors and other pros. The store looks nice but their service is terrible. I want to support small business (like a sticker on their window asks us to) but it looks like I'm headed to Lowes.
