Charlie's Homemade Ice Cream & Burgers, Sylvania OH

I used to go here as a kid and it still feels nostalgic. I haven't lived in Ohio in over 20 years but when I visit I like trying to come by at least once

The single burger is huge and a half order of tater tots is a half basket full. The food is delicious but I don't recommend a sloppy joe.
Their ice cream is awesome, a bit pricey but it is homemade.
The place is cozy & worth going to!

Food was good, place was cute, but needs better ventilation (was smoky!).

We got a kids grilled cheese, nuggets, and hot dog, as well as adult burger and chicken sandwich. All the food was great. The onion rings and fries sides were super good (curly fries were only ok). The ice cream was good too! (Got a chocolate shake, strawberry shake, and Superman cone)

If we’re coming through town again, we’ll definitely be back!

I've never had a great experience at this place. I don't know why I keep going back because it's just mediocre. Today I went and wanted a specific ice cream but when I looked and saw it was iced over on top and almost empty I asked if there was another in the back. She said yes and brought it out but then she scooped from the old bucket and gave me very icy and gummy ice cream. The reason I asked if there was a second in the back was because I wanted a fresh one. I ended up throwing it away because it was too crunchy and the texture was not fluffy. Then my husband got another flavor which he ended up throwing away because it was disgusting.

Was hoping for a little more home cooked feel to the place. Was disappointed with frozen fries. So close to a really good concept

Soft ice cream waffle cone which was great. Ordered the Philly steak sub and it was very greasy, but after drying it napkins, it tasted great. Friendly staff.

This place is a classic! Love the food! The new ownership has carried on the traditions Charlie set forth, but also added their touch. Try everything at least once!

Top of line service on both visits I have made here. Clean Clean Clean. There is inside and outside dining availible. Its always great to see the establishments with employees at the age to just enter the work force. Even better when they have great manners and politeness so many lack today.

Excellent customer service. Smiling faces welcoming and servicing staff. Delicious burger, chicken cheesteak & Coneydog menu item experience along with huge homemade onion rings and fantastic yummy chocolate malts.

Great local spot! But the fries we ordered weren’t seasoned and the tomato bisque was good but spicy! We’ll definitely be back for the ice cream though

Terrific homemade ice cream! New to area and work across the street - this will become a favorite place of mine to visit on those really warm days.

I went in to ask the owner nicely, IF they would be able to donate a gift card for a Benefit.
I gave her my information. And email address. Over 3 weeks ago. NOTHING. She made it clear she would email me a gift certificate. Why would you commit to something and NEVER follow thru.

Way overpriced for mediocre food! We could have gotten better burgers and more of them at a fast food joint for that price. Our son's kid's burger was the size of a slider for like $7.50 so they basically charged us for a meatball with a bun and a hand full of curly fries. My salad was a good portion and the chili was on point but the prices were way off. The lady who took our order and cooked it was very kind and sweet and she was just awesome and we know it's not her fault she's just doing her job. We were so excited to try it out because we read all of the good reviews online but in actuality 3 stars is all we can give for the food and incredibly high prices. If they'd just lower their prices fairly according to portions and not charge separately for fries they'd be much better off. It wasn't worth the gas to get there.

Really good experience there. Staff was smiling and they seemed to be working well together too. Ohh Damn good food! Had a classic burger and onion rings twas totally awesome strawberry shake with homemade ice cream. Well worth checking out this place!

This place is definitely a Sylvania gem! Friendly staff, great ice cream, and great food! Hungry for a burger? Instead of going to a fast food place try a burger from this business. You will not be disappointed!

Great Memories. When Charlies opened in 1984 friends an I would visit on our bikes so much that our parents opened up a tab that hopefully has been paid in full. I can still remember the real cherry Coke, French silk pie, Malts and those burgers. It's amazing how the brain can encapsulate an experience for so many years that when you close your eyes you actually feel like you have gone back in time.
