Corkscrew Saloon reviews
16We weren't expecting the posh interior and were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at a beautiful old mansion-turned restaurant. Food was very good and plentiful. Prices were on the fancy side, but reasonable for a special occasion.
As always, Ryan and his team did a wonderful job. The fun, atmosphere, service was amazing. Thanks, team Corkscrew.
The butternut squash ravioli did not disappoint, came with a beautiful mixed greens salad and warm rolls. The Brie with warm pita chips was delicious too! The staff was very friendly and the restaurant was clean and inviting! A unique experience dining in this historic home/restaurant with several dining “rooms”. We ate in an upstairs room that had 6 dining tables. Reservations recommended!
Great food, service and atmosphere. Had the elk steak which was amazing and the peanut butter whiskey old fashioned was also a huge hit.
Let me tell you about the first and last time I visited the corkscrew saloon. My partner and I went here for Valentine's Day last year for an upscale dining experience. It is advertised as an upscale experience set apart from lower class dining options.unfortunately, it turned out to be the most disappointing meal both my partner and I ever had.
- I have to say the server was brilliant and it's not her fault that the establishment she worked for was overpriced and underwhelming.
The calamari appetizer was ok - it's hard to mess up deep-fried squid. The drinks were nice - I had a whiskey cocktail and a beer. The service was wonderful. The server went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable. Things took a turn when it came to the entres.
The entres were terrible. I ordered the Florida Grouper, advertised as dressed with corn and black bean salsa, served with chefs choice of potato and vegetables. Having worked as a sous chef for 3 years and previously a line cook for 12 years, I assumed it would be a lovely, fresh dish complimented by seasonal vegetables and an inspired potato side dish. I had cooked a similar sounding dish as a special in my own kitchen, which I loved.
My plate came to me with a sad looking, underseasoned piece of fish with limp, brown-green asparagus and potatoes au-gratin that could very well have come from a box. The "corn and black bean salsa" that topped the fish was literally frozen corn with one or two black beans here and there. No flavor, no spice, not fresh at all, hideous presentation, and POTATOES AU GRATIN? This place prides itself on being upscale but is serving Betty Crocker boxed meals to their customers? Flavor was unpleasant to say the least, the asparagus was dead, and it was all coated in some kind of cheese sauce. It was heavy and tasted of salt.
My partner ordered some kind of chicken entre and hers was given the same treatment as mine. The chicken itself appeared to have been cooked in salt pepper and water, as well as the dead limp asparagus. Again, it was potatoes au gratin from a box, and everything covered in a salty, tasteless bechamel. Our romantic dinner conversation centered around how disgusting our food was and how incredulous we were that they were charging $30 a plate for this slop. If I want something tasteless, poached to death, and absolutely swimming in white sauce, I usually wait til thanksgiving at the inlaws.
Our valentine's meal was absolutely regrettable. I felt physical pain as the server took my card to pay our bill. Corkscrew saloon does not deserve the hype that it gets. I suppose I have to consider its target customer base. It's probably the Ritz to all the country bumpkins that patronize this establishment and rate it so highly. However, if you're like me and desire an elevated dining experience but don't want to hike all the way to Cleveland to find it, look elsewhere. The Corkscrew Saloon will Cork-skrew you over.
It was wonderful. Food was awesome. Our server Bree was awesome. I think the hosts should be a little better dressed and not have holes from her thighs to her ankles, but maybe that's just me.
Service was below average. Was with a group and ordered some drinks and was brought wrong drinks. A margaritas was ordered but brought a sangria? Also asked drafts and answer was "well they change all the time" (server didn't know drafts) when someone in our group then said " I think you should go see what you have" is when the server went to go find out (server was not going to even tell us what you had) Also didn't know what the soup was and never went to find out. So no one ordered soup bc the " server didn't know" and didn't ask the kitchen (one of the servers thought it was funny she didn't know what it was). Food was cooked wrong steak came out RARE RARE when it was ordered medium. Husband's parm was just ok not much flavor, but was told by the server oh its a huge portion. If it's not good then the amount doesn't matter.feel like think place used to be good but has been going down hill in recent visits. Think I'm giving up on this place
The atmosphere was terrific and everyone was very friendly. The food was top notch would be visiting here again again.
Cool old house with multiple rooms. Apps and entres we're excellent. Service was friendly and attentive. Definitely going back.
Great food, awesome atmosphere. Service awesome. It is such a great place to eat, perfect for a romantic night out, or a dinner with family or friends.
A total loss. Tired and hungry after house supply
shopping and staff at window can't even get my order strait
Fancy place with a rich history. Food was large portioned and seemed fair for the price. Wouldn’t say what I had was the best but would try again someday as our service was phenomenal. Beautiful back patio in the summer!
Went with the family after our tour of Castle Noel. Service was friendly. I had the Pasta Newburg which I highly recommend. Atmosphere was charming. Will return.
This place is fantastic! The food is always good! Everything is unique! I love the heavy appetizers! Spinach artichoke dip, pot stickers, chicken lettuce wraps, delicious! I’ve had take out from here for my anniversary and they sent some excellent carrot cake! Two big slices! One for each of us! I took my mother her and met a friend there for lunch today! Service by Jenny was excellent! My mother ordered around the campfire martini and she said it was excellent! She even had 2! The onion soup was excellent on a fall day and loaded with cheese! We ordered almond crusted chicken with rice and green beans! Very good! My friend had a seafood dish and said it was very good!
Very accommodating for our party of 10. Food was amazing, service was exceptional. The historic charm of the bldg is an added plus, great atmosphere.
Food was good. Atmosphere was good. The waiter we had was very knowledgeable about the location when we were curious about what the property was before. I just felt like I spent more for what we got. Tiny bit over priced, but a good experience for a night out
