After reading some previous reviews, we were a touch concerned about staying here but overall it was a good stay. The location is fantastic with ready access to downtown, the riverfront, parks, museum, restaurants, and more. The parking garage is a bit tight and parking is a bit expensive but all to be expected when staying downtown somewhere. The staff were definitely lackluster overall. One morning for breakfast we were "greeted" by a gentleman in his uniform literally laying on a couch outside the breakfast hall who kind of suggested breakfast was too expensive and seemed to want to dissuade us against breakfast even though we bought breakfast when booking our rooms. Most staff seemed about of this manner; Not rude or anything just not caring at all and generally more "present" than working at all. There were a couple of female staff workers that we encountered during our stay that were always pleasant and now, in retrospect, seem like shining stars against their peers (Arena was especially kind, personable, and great with suggestions and with our kids. She definitely stood out as the most accommodating and welcoming during our stay and always had a smile on her face). The suite we stayed in was a great room. No great view to speak of but overall clean, working AC, GREAT water pressure in the shower and everything was clean and ready upon entry. Beds and pillows were comfortable and clean. No frills but definitely a good room.

Overall, we had a very positive experience at this Hilton. A small focus on staff training and staff incentives could probably bring this facility over the top to excellence. Regardless, would definitely recommend if looking to stay downtown to enjoy the sights and parks.

The service was great. The hotel staff are always pleasant and responsive. However, the hotel itself is very much showing its age and is in need of serious repairs and upgrades.

We checked in on Saturday because this location was close to COSI. The room was dark and not a lot of lighting. At some point that evening the plumbing quit working. We woke up around 4 AM and there was no water in the toilet. When you flushed it, it acted like it was clogged. We called the front desk a few hours later and they said someone would come up and they never did. We tried to take a shower after waiting nearly 2 hours for someone to check the toilet only to find out our shower wouldn't drain. Again, called the front desk and they told us someone wouldn't be in for a few more hours who could fix it. They offered us access to a room down the hall so we could shower and use a working toilet (real fun when I'm 8 months pregnant and we had our potty training 3 year old with us). The room we were given access too had black mold all over the bathroom and in the shower. That shower drained incredibly slow, so we have water up past our ankles. There was a white powder/dust all over the carpet. Totally disgusting. I figured since it was a Hilton there would be better quality rooms. Definitely go somewhere else.

Since taking what I considered a professional approach by reaching out to corporate didn’t get my family and I any results, I’ll share our awful experience here. This place should be closed, at least temporarily to do some serious and thorough cleaning. My 8 month pregnant wife and I took our son to Columbus for a quick weekend trip to visit local attractions (Cosi and LegoLand) only to stay at this extremely dirty hotel with no running water, black mold from the walls to the ceilings, white powder substance covering the “sticky” carpet and a musty odor on the yellow sheets. While I understand it is not possible to perfectly clean each and every room, but to have us use a room down the hall due to not having water in ours - only to be told “we can allow you to use this dead-bolted room to shower in” is unacceptable. Especially considering this room was dirtier than the original. In any case, please consider all options before bringing your family here. This place is not a safe option.

This has to be one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. I booked here for my best friend’s bachelorette. Parking is terrible here. I booked the room weeks in advanced (2 double bed deluxe suite with River view). Upon arrival they said they “upgraded me” to a king suite (ONE BED) and a sofa couch due to the room I booked being “sold out”. I told them I did not ask for this “upgrade” and refused to stay unless we had the two beds since there were four of us and two weren’t sleeping on the couch. They ended up finding the double bed suite for us after waiting a long time to find a room. Once we got to the room, there were obvious stains in the carpet, food on the floor, mysterious pills. Overall you could tell the room had not been cleaned properly. There was ONE trash can for the entire room. And no cleaning service daily. The shower tub flooded and would not drain right away. The ceiling light in the bathroom began leaking the first night being there. We stayed Friday to Sunday. On Saturday, we asked for towels multiple times. Each time they said “we are working on it” or they’ll bring them up soon. NEVER received towels even after talking with them through the app and on the phone. Just overall not a good experience. The hotel is not worth the price for the headache you have to go through to book and stay. At the end of my stay they also tried to charge me for the parking garage even though I wasn’t using their parking. Thankfully the charge was caught and taken off before I left. It’s very frustrating they would leave the charge on after the entire conversation I had with staff on Friday about the parking.

This is the second time at a double tree hotel without any AC working. The rooms were 75° or higher. Not good at all. I had to cancel and switch hotels. I am a dedicated Hilton group diamond member and this is not up to their standards at all. I hate to leave a bad review but I had to. The lady at the desk was super nice and tried to help me. The location is good but the parking it rough for large vehicles to park in. The doors leading to the hotel elevator from the garage were all locked also. On floor 2-3 and 4.

Wow! I can't believe this hotel is in the Hilton family. Definitely not up to standards (no cookies? !? !) and I mimic the other complaints listed in the reviews, especially the surly employees. And the $22.50 breakfast is laughable with 3 strips of extra crispy bacon and about 2 dried-out scrambled eggs on the buffet. As a Diamond member, this place totally misses the mark.

Two stars for location. We had to wait over an hour for a clean room despite having a reservation. When we got our room there were trash and towels left from the last guests in the bathroom. We didn’t see a point in complaining because it was made clear to us that there were no clean rooms and no staff to clean them. Nothing was offered to us for the inconvenience. We were late for the event we traveled to town to attend. Rooms and public spaces are also very dated. The lobby ceiling was leaking from the rain. Unfortunately due to all of the events that weekend, we couldn’t get another hotel so we stayed one night and left.

I love this place. Always clean and service is great! I stay here every time I am in Columbus. The gym is phenomenal!

I have stayed here 3 times now for work, if it was not for their amazing gym there is no way I would ever return. All three times I have had issues it is clear employees here are not well trained in procedures or professionalism. I was checked out a day early and barged in on by housekeeping while showering, the second time the AC was broken, this time there are no towels in my room at all in addition I can hear housekeeping yelling obscenities in the hallway during the morning.

The rooms are dated but big and comfortable. As mentioned they have one of the nicest hotel gyms I have ever seen in terms of size this is the only reason I return.

This place sucks. Only good thing about it if you have status you can use the capitol fitness center which has a awesome golf simulator. The rooms are made with cardboard you can hear everything from room next door. Staff is also awful.

Stayed here for 3 days for the National Cheer Competition. Staff not friendly at all, like they didn’t want to be there or be bothered with anyone. Entrance from street wide open with no security or concierge. People coming in from off the street using drugs on the stairs inside the front door. Creepy individual with a miner light on his head roaming through the garage at 3am peering through car windows. No seating on street in front of hotel to just sit and enjoy the view. The way the front desk act when I asked for water or cookies you would have thought it was coming out of their paychecks or something. Room was ok, could use some updating.

Stayed here for a few nights and it was relatively solid, place looked clean. Not sure why people rate it so low, probably just a bunch of Karen’s.

Our family stayed at HH Columbus Downtown for a couple of nights. The hotel was not very inviting and felt very empty and unappealing upon arrival (4p on a Sunday). The on-site restaurant was closing at 5p. The desk personnel stated, "they tend to close whenever they want, so check in with the bartender to hear their hours. " In addition, the A/C wasn't working in the restaurant which made any possibility of eating in their impossible due to the sound and the mess. We were tired from travelling and didn't want to venture into the city, so we ordered take-out. The food arrived quickly and was acceptable quality.

The "snack shop" area was also always lacking in selection and supplies during the entire stay. And the morning breakfast, for $21 a person, was not worth the money.

However, the few employees that we encounter during the stay were pleasant and helpful.

The room, which was a suite (that's the only type of room in this hotel), was spacious and clean, and much more than we needed for our stay. But it was nice to stretch out and not feel cramped. The windows, over-looking the river and the Court Building fountains, were sooo incredibly dirty on the outside, that looking out and viewing the perfect sunset from our room was so disappointing (see pictures).

We enjoyed the one day we spent in Columbus, learning about the history and exploring the beautiful areas, and the hotel was conveniently located, but I'm not sure we will stay here again should we ever return to Columbus.

Disorganized, dirty and unsecure.

Tried to check in at 5pm (check in set at 4pm after booking) and was unable to get room keys because no rooms were available. The front desk couldn't say when a room would be ready. Sounded like cleaning staff was having some problems but no rooms were ready even when checking in later in the day. Lobby was filled with other guests having the same problem.

After we were able to check in the room was dated and not maintained. Didn't have sheets for the pull out and did not have enough towels for all the guests.

We went to grab stuff from our cars and found someone had gone through our cars in hotel parking garage. Had some things stolen out of the trunk and everything in the glove boxes thrown around.

The staff was helpful but clearly did not have the support they needed.

Very disappointed with our stay and would recommend you avoid this hotel.

This hotel is fine. Location is perfect, desk staff very professional, all the things you'd expect from a Hilton branch hotel. Yes, the place is showing its age. But at 112 bucks a night in the middle of Downtown Columbus I can't in good conscience complain about it.
