Doyle Road Covered Bridge reviews
5Beautiful Bridge. On side road, so you can definitely get out and walk both ends.
Parking off to the side. Go slow as sharp turn on bridge makes it hard to see traffic approaching. No restrooms in area. Obey private property signs and take your mess with you. In October for bridge festival, the boy scout troop sells basic food.hot dogs, chips snacks and drinks.
Scenic Bridge. Poor camera angles and now it's still surrounded by sore-loser trumphole signs.
A cute little covered bridge that is part of the local covered bridge tour. Pedestrian should be warned: there is not a walking lane on this bridge end it is narrow and several pick up trucks came through here quite quickly. Worth stopping at. There is a wide shoulder on one end of the bridge where you can pull over safely.
The Doyle Road Covered Bridge has also been called the Mullen Bridge. It is 94-feet long and spans Mill Creek, a tributary of the Grand River.
The Doyle Road Covered Bridge was built in 1868 by a carpenter from Vermont who designed it similar to one in his home town. The Bridge is of Town lattice construction and has a long narrow window on both sides.
The Bridge was rehaibilitated in 1988. The portals were restored, roof had new shingles and the exterior received new wooden planks and was painted or stained. Another significant aspect of the remodel is a multi-layered Burr Arch. Each of the two Burr Arches has 24 boards. Each Board is 8" wide and 2" deep. The interior of the Doyle Road Covered Bridge is breath taking! This is one of Ashtabula's prized historic bridges.
