A very welcome exp. For a bed and shower. First and last meal at this place HORRIBLE. Tiny bowl of watery veg. Soup tiny strip of old salad. What a slap in the face as a human. Refused to let any scnds to b given. I would not want to be them at the last day and hv to give account to Creator for feeding His children like this. Pure evil

I've been there before and all the worker's we're honestly very caring, definitely during very serious situations we had in 2019-2020. Honestly.you will survive.

Best shelter I've ever been to! Staff are human they have there bad day's just like anyone else. But they help everyone get a place. Yes there is arguments with us and other people and sometimes with staff as well. But overall I myself having nothing bad to say. I myself had never seen a bed bug 1 the whole time I was there. Great place to be if your homeless

I wanted to volunteer but the owner clearly has no life based on her response to the reviews. Get some mental help.

Why is the food always cold? Why is fruit and donated food left standing in the Kitchen area for days before putting it out? Why do the staff have first pick of any donated items? Why are people treated like this is a prison and ordered around in raised voices? Why is there so much victimization? Why is there no compassion? Why is there no access to a hot drink in winter during the day? Why is there no structure or organization to meetings and appointments with case workers, medical and shelter information? Why is there favoritism in a shelter house? So many morw questions.

I enjoyed my time there for the most part. Some of the rules could need changing and they def need to add more groups to add something to the day. The food is hit or miss. The RA’s always get a bad rep but they are actually pretty cool: they just match your energy. I never had any bad experiences with them. I was exited due to fighting (self defense lowkey) and I wish I could return but I want to thank everyone who made my experience there not so bad. I hope that when I get my stuff together, I can return to volunteer with meals.

I was looking for a shelter to donate to this holiday season, as I know 2020 has been difficult for everyone. I will be avoiding donating to this shelter due to extremely inappropriate responses from owner. I expect every shelter to have poor reviews, but ignoring health issues brought up in negative feedback as well as degrading patrons who leave those critical reviews is not acceptable. Please feel a new PR representative, and potentially a new owner of this shows their true attitude towards the population. It's disheartening to see an owner who claims to have been a patron only 3yrs ago act so detached from the cause. Hopefully improvement comes quickly!

I think that this shelter should give you a sheet with the staff members names on it and the facility Director name to.
I heard that you get a case manager here and they have WiFi and a washer and dryer that cost 50 cents a piece and they serve meals three times a day.
You have to do chores and they have an elevator.

I don't know anything about it. But it is the primary shelter for women, and we need it. Run by Shelter house.

I love Ester Marie Hatton Center For Women because they take very good care of women that are in need and that is always a blessing.

I was planning to donate goods and clothing, but reviews are consistently negative. Reviews of a place that concerns lack of resources doesn't turn me away, but mistreating residents and spiteful replies from an owner does.

They told me that I couldn’t be served the first day because the intake lady was gone for the day and to come back in the morning. I explained that I was a victim of crime and I had no where else to go but I was still told that I had to leave the property. I stayed awake all night and in the morning realized that a baby mole had crawled under me and died. I had to urinate outside two times. In the morning, when I asked a worker, they told me that I’d have to wait to be admitted at 8am. I waited needing to use the restroom for two hours until a worker allowed me to come inside and use the restroom.
They denied me intake because I had some unemployment money saved up. No section 8 help, no admission, no shower, no time to look for a job.
It made no sense to me. They aren’t allowed to discriminate on the basis of unemployment insurance. That isn’t an income.
All three of the other ladies were admitted. I was the only one denied. There were eight beds left. There was really no need to deny me. I would’ve been out fairly quickly.
I almost forgot to mention.
They have an interview to get in to the shelter. They can’t deny anyone but they make sure to filter out anyone they don’t like.
I think I wasn’t liked because they denied me three actual times when I asked them a question.
