Italian Restaurant Etna reviews
16Great service, great food, amazing atmosphere. The owner is very kind and is a great chef. I can't say enough great things about this place!
Had a great meal with our party of 6 tonight. First time here and was a bit hesitant since there was a smattering of some poor reviews in the midst of otherwise 4.6 rating. All our meals were excellent. They ran out of a staple appetizer (calamari) so we ordered a double order of mussels which did not disappoint. Had a fairly unique vegetable minestrone which was great.
Entrees ordered: chicken, seafood risotto, seafood stew, pasta scampi, rainbow trout, duck (actually best duck I've had - so moist). All excellent. I got to try a bit of each of the meals and happy customers all around. We had meals in Italy recently and we all said we would have been quite happy to have eaten these there. We even had a complimentary tiramisu dessert - just like in Italy! Where's the free Limoncello though! Haha.
Waiter was excellent with great service. He even did double duty and made my drink! Definitely will come back and try others on the menu. Some advice: do call and make a reservation. It is quite small inside. Maybe seating 25 people including the bar.
Extremely small dining area, watered down pasta sauce, mediocre service at best, auto-gratuity of 20% for 5+, 400% markup on common table wines. Absolutely nothing special about the place. Poor all around.
This place is amazing! I am Italian and it is authentic! The staff knows Italian too! This is my favorite Italian restaurant!
Amazing! Cozy atmosphere with real authentic Italian food. Great wine selection too. The duck and the black pasta made our night. We can’t wait to be back!
Very good service, but pretty ordinary Italian food. Caprese salad didn't have fresh tomatoes and a mediocre mozzarella. Red sauce has almost no seasoning and tasted like warmed over tomatoe puree. Gnocchi are not house made and are heavy and chewy. Veal in the veal scallopini was nice and tender, but the mushroom cream sauce had no character. Don't see how this place gets such good reviews.
Always good always great service always quaint and always friendly. Eli, Carlo, Pasquale are the best. Pete can cook. What are great Chef.
My dinner companion recomended Etna last evening as a late night spot to attend after a concert at Severance Hall. We ventured inside this corner comfy homestyle Italian eatery just a few minutes before before 11 pm and were greeted warmly by our host Carlo who recomended a few dishes and a sparkling Muscato from Sardegna, Italy: Dolci Note (Translated Sweet Notes)
We were served a delectable appetizer of Calamari tubes grilled on arugula. The Calamari was the finest I've ever tried; it was so tender it practically melted upon a salad of large arugala leaves laced with extra virgin olive oil and meyer lemon juice locally procured from Sirna and sons distributors.
Our main courses were brought out presently: a Cioppino (prepared with clams, mussels shrimp calamari and braised salmon with homemade tomato sauce and Chardonnay from Venezia Giulia.) and a
Black ink spaghetti (imported from Salerno, Italy) made with cherry tomatoes, fresh shrimp and
scampi.
Chef/proprietor Peppe Pilumeli is originally from Catania (Sicily) ; he opened Etna six years ago this April and credits his success in due part to the influence of his brother-in-law Valerio Iorio -a Florentine chef.
Our dinner was completed by a Tartufo made with gelato rolled in hazelnut truffles fabricated in coco powder, imported from Tuscany, and a homemade tiramisu (an original creation made with Grand Marnier aptly named Grand Marnier Coppa Dell’eta). The espresso machine was on the fritz so we settled for a yummy
Limoncello Cordial.
Excellent food, nice quiet atmospheres. You feel like you are in Italy at a small family restaurant.
We walked in little Italy and this place smelled so good when we walked by. So we walked in and when you see real Italians at the restaurant you know you picked the right one. The food was amazing so was the atmosphere very authentic Italian food some of the best food I’ve ever ate.
Grsat little place! Intimate and freindly. Great food and wine selection. Easy walk from the Glidden House. If you're in Cleveland you should go!
A must if you are in Cleveland! Tucked away on a corner in Little Italy, this place is authentic and delicious! The chef, Pepe, is wonderful and will cook you anything to order. The grilled squid is outstanding, and the main dishes are the real deal!
Had the mushroom and gorgonzola ravioli. Quite good and the waiter was very nice. Sitting outside on a slow Sunday was pleasant.
Favorite Italian restaurant in CLE. As authentic as you can get outside Italy. Wonderfully attentive and kind servers. Tonight we had the scallops appetizer and it is to die for.
Extremely slow and indifferent service. I felt like i was in a Manhattan tourist trap. One of our dinners was very good, one was ok, the third was a complete fake! 25$ for a plate of pasta with red sauce and a couple of olives. Sorry, not coming back to this joint as there are much better choices these days in Little Italy where they actually care about their customers.
This is some of the classiest, high-end food restaurant I have ever been at, that has never looked down on me for showing up in basketball shorts and a tank top. Amazing place, can't recommend that enough.
