I am extremely letdown by this veterinary hospital and took them out of the "care" from this money-grabbing establishment a year ago. I should have written this sooner. I had trusted the care of my 2 cats there for nearly 8 years. One of my cats was having what seemed like asthma attacks about 10 times a day for 2 years. Constantly, I brought up the concern of feline asthma and the desire to have her looked at for that. They continued to push that it was bronchitis or pneumonia and just shoved blood tests, steroids, and other medications at me to give her. It would work for a few months and then she'd be right back at it. It started to seem like a money grab when they showed no interest in what I had to say, how I was concerned that the medication wasn't actually working (because the issue was coming right back), and didn't want to hear about what I had found on feline asthma; that it was identical to the dozens of videos I had to my cat. I took her elsewhere and within 10min, she was diagnosed with feline asthma and put on a treatment plan. I was told that if she had gotten the proper treatment from the start, she wouldn't have so much scarring on her lungs and it wouldn't be as advanced and severe as it is. The vet showed me her X-ray and even not being a vet, I could plainly see it all over her lungs. It was so severe, that because of the neglect of Fairfield, she was nearing the point of euthanasia. If I didn't wiseup and finally go get another opinion, I would have had to put her down within 6 months. It would have become unmanageable and too painful for her to live with. I'm absolutely disgusted and disappointed at the flippant attitudes from the staff at Fairfield regarding my concerns and their neglect to look deeper. Thankfully, the asthma is managed now and I'm getting much better (and more thoughtful) care somewhere else. And at a fraction of the price.

Dr. Shannon and her staff provided excellent care to my dogs and puppies over the past 3 years. I am unfortunately relocating out of state but I wanted to share my experiences/thoughts. The staff is amazing and always welcoming, understanding, helpful and remain pleasant even on very busy and hectic days. They have the option to communicate via text and provide almost immediate response and assistance. One of my dogs developed a heart issue and Dr. Shannon took the time to work directly with his cardiologist in Virginia and facilitate any bloodwork needs locally. He did succumb from his illness and Dr. Shannon and the staff provided me with amazing support and compassion. Onsite X-ray and blood draws available and very accommodating to emergency visits even during COVID-19.

Truly the most amazing and compassionate vets and staff! Thank you for helping my husband and I with one of the hardest decisions we ever made in our lives. You gave our Nancy the most respectful and caring passing! As we continue to grieve, we will never forget the loving care you provided her.

Today, 8/9/23, we had our dog dying in our living room. I called our vet at 7am and they wouldn't fit us in. We called everywhere we could. Only one said yes! Brittney answered the phone at Fairfield animal hospital and said the doctor is here at 9. Come now. They were very professional and have EARNED our business! They fit us in when they were busy and made us feel better in a terrible time. WELL DONE Fairfield team! And thank you again for what you did!

The care my pets received on a normal basis was fine, but none of them received even decent care at the end of their lives. One cat had kidney issues and we were told it was early stages so she could live a few years - sent us home with a bag of saline, a Rx we had to fill at a regular pharmacy (that couldn't get it in for nearly a week), and special food. We explained the symptoms were worse (not eating, not using her hind legs, etc) and they suggested we bring her in for monitoring, but that morning she was meowing in pain constantly and had to be put down. My dog was in a lot of pain due to his hips/back legs and couldn't use stairs anymore. When the pain meds he was on seemed to no longer be helping we made an appointment to have him put down. When we got in the room, they questioned if we really wanted to do it! It was an extremely difficult decision to begin with and we were there to do so, but them questioning us made it even harder and made us question our decision.

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Gibson and the tech Katelyn. They were so kind helping me through having to make the final decision to let my cat go, it was devastating but they were so sweet and helpful. I would highly recommend them!

Great care by medical staff, very high tech in communication, billing, and reminder notices on appointments. Tremendous resources tied in with Girard and Akron Animal Hospitals.
