Flying Pizza reviews
13We love this pizza! We don't have it often it's our special treat. I'm in love with the dough, crunchy, chewy oh so yummy! The sauce is just right they don't overkill like some pizza places do. We always place a carryout order and take it home. It's always fresh & so hot. We now bring a towel with us so I can sit it on my lap because it's too hot to have sitting on my lap. We tried the breadsticks this trip. I wasn't a fan. I thought they were going to be like the crust of the pizza. If they were made like the crust, I would devour them. Would I recommend this place YES! What you waiting for. I recommend the hand tossed. I don't like the Sicilian style too thick for my liking.
My wife and I ordered a pepperoni pizza from Flying Pizza the other day and I really enjoyed it!
Food: The pizza was delicious, though the dough was a little undercooked. Not much, so I really didn't mind or even frankly notice it until my wife pointed it out.
Service: The service was great though; the staff was very friendly and the food was ready surprisingly quickly. Though admittedly that likely led to the only knock we had on it.
Atmosphere: It seems to be mostly a pick up place, and the atmosphere is great for that. There is some seating available, but not a ton that I could see.
If you're looking for legit New York-style pizza in a fun, lively setting, The Flying Pizza needs to be on your radar. I recently visited this neighborhood pizzeria and was impressed with their dedication to quality ingredients and authentic preparation techniques.
As soon as you walk in, you'll notice the staff tossing dough high up in the air as the ovens blaze away behind the counter. The aroma of freshly baked pies engulfs you immediately, setting the stage for some great New York-style eats.
I opted to order a fresh pie instead of a slice, and I was glad I did. The 10 minute wait was well worth it when this piping hot masterpiece emerged. The crust was perfectly charred with just the right amount of chew. The in-house pizza sauce struck a nice balance between sweet and savory. And the locally-sourced mozzarella melted into gooey deliciousness.
If that wasn't enough, the complimentary breadsticks slathered in their homemade garlic butter took this meal over the top. The two ladies working the counter were extremely friendly and helpful in guiding our selections.
All in all, The Flying Pizza delivers on its promise of New York-style pies with flare and flavor. I'll definitely be back to try out more of their specialty pizzas soon! Just be prepared to wait a bit for your pie, because quality takes time. It's worth it!
The pizza was nice and hot, but when we sat down to eat it, the pizza was tough to bite into and taste like cardboard.
Always good. The owner has been there many years and does a great service to his customers.
Overall, this is a great local option for a great slice. The pizza is on the high-end of affordable, but very generous with portions. The ingredients are fresh, the pizza is delicious, and their is a decent amount of seating. My only gripes are that their "lunch special" is hardly a deal since you only save a nickel on the combo as opposed to the drink and slices separately. Also, the gentleman making the pies is not the most pleasant to interact with.
The pizza quality, size, and flavor have won a special place on my taste buds. Triangle slices - never squares. The price is pricey; at the time of this review, a large cheese and large pepperoni pizza cost me $45, taking 15 minutes from order to pickup. I reserve it for special occasions. There is a $10 lunch special (large drink and two, two topping slices) if you're looking for a deal. This location has always had prompt, friendly service and had a recent facelift. While there are televisions, the atmosphere lends itself more to conversation.
Bottom line: absolutely delicious pizza that is soft on top and crunchy/chewy on the bottom, at a significantly higher price than the chain stores. However, you might just find that it's worth it.
This is literally my favorite pizza in Dayton. After having lived in New Jersey for a few years, this is the closest to NY pizza you can get here. As a matter of fact, it IS NY pizza. Big, thin crust slices covered with the best sauce there is, then smothered in 100% mozzarella and baked to melty perfection. The place is quaint and humble, like a diner that's stood the test of time. Small Town feel, friendly staff and actual NY pizza, you have to try this place! And they serve pizza by the slice.
You can’t imitate a real Sicilian NY style pizza. This is it. The sauce! The cheese. The crust. The flying pizza dough is an art form. Ba da bing bada boom it’s the best!
I literally haven't even left yet I felt so compelled to write this. I thought I could never get actually good proper pizza in ohio but I was wrong, this is IT. SO GOOD. Get it by the slice, it makes a worlds difference between good pizza and the best pizza you'll ever have. You need that freshly crisped bottom crust. The woman working today is so nice and sweet and lovely to talk to. I recommend classic regular plain cheese by th3 slice. You won't regret it.
Customer service is not good, so it is irrelevant if the food is ok. When we got there to pick up the food as we were walking in to get it (only 5 minutes after the time given food would be done) I got a phone call from someone with an attitude about the food being done. And then they just hung up after I said we were there. While I appreciate the phone call to let me know the food was ready, I certainly don't appreciate such a nasty attitude. It's been a long time since we ordered food from here, and I'm not sure I ever will again. A little nice goes a long way when it comes to customer service!
If your looking for great pizza in the city come no further than Flying pizza. Great service, great prices and even better pies. I had both regular and Sicilian crust both are great but that Sicilian crust is near and dear to my heart mmm mmmm mmm.
I ordered a calzone and ended up taking half of it home because it was so big. It was delicious though.
