Giant Eagle Supermarket, Powell OH

We will never go back to that giant eagle ever, thank god my wife watches what she buys we got screwed on to packs of hamburger we wanted 3 lbs at the meat area and the lady sent us over to the prepackage area and told us that the hamburger was on discount because the date was miss labeled and they package it that day, it didn`t hit us that they could of repackage the meat when they saw the date was wrong so we bought it got it home and it was no good we ended up throwing it away, but it gets better my wife was watching the register prices as there ringing them up they tried to charge us for 4 6 packs of coke that were on the end isle of the store that said buy two and get two for free when we confronted the on the price they said it was for cans only so why would they have them in with the sale items when they could of put them in the isle with the rest of the pop that wasn`t on sale, we bought Iams dog food was on sale but they rang it up as not on sale but the one lady that works there had a coupon for 3 dollars off so that work, so if you do go there watch what you buy

Been going back after the renovation. Everything back to normal. Nice clean store. Shelves are well stocked. Only issue is no plastic bags offered for take home grocery now. Bring your own bags or they offer paper bags at a cost. Found a use for the paper bags to bag recyclables at home so it's not an issue. Can occasionally do a small shopping trip elsewhere to get the grocery plastic bags for home use.

Giant eagle used to be the place to get birthday cakes. This is the second year in a row where the cake was defective and you can tell they don’t even care in the quality of their products.

Such a shame especially since it’s $40.00 for a cake that has divets and missing icing or you can tell they made a mistake and tried to hide it with more icing.

For this price I could very well go to Nothing Bundt Cakes or Piece of Cake for a cake for the exact same price and they have PRIDE in their goods. Lesson learned and never again.

Can’t figure out why prep foods closes at 6pm. I guess they only want to provide that convenience for people who work nearby and not downtown?

Fast and easy checkout/shopping experience but prices are sky high compared to Kroger across the street

Lots of vegan extras you won't find at the other stores. They changed their name to Market District.

I always find everything I need! And some surprises now and then that I didn't even know I needed!

My favorite grocery store. They have made a lot of improvements in the last couple of months. The ready-to-eat meals are superb, with a lot of variety. Very clean store. This is the only store where I actually enjoy the self checkout registers. One last thing. The shopping carts are wonderful! No squeaking, and they turn easily. Kind of hard to describe what makes them so good.

It's clean and the people who work there are friendly! Actually they put in a Starbucks and a lot of other things in there so it's picked up quite a bit even with the economy the way it is.

Update, I have been going to Giant Eagle now Market District for over a decade. Their pharmacy people are great and there is some tenure there. Their carts got an upgrade, the store is always clean. The folks in the meat dept are helpful. You can find a lot of stuff here. Sales are good. The old GE program was better for gas the new perks program. The Deli Dept used to be great, not so much any more. The produce is better than most places, you will be paying a little more unless there is a sale. The checkout has evolved. There is a large section to self check out. You need to bring your own bags. The paperbags that you can buy are horrible and maybe 1 use only. (Also please recycle them). They DO have people that will check your items through, you still want to bring your own bags.

Large store with lots of selection.clean too. Produce was fresh for the most part some bad apples though.

Beautiful store. Taste of the Holidays for Christmas was awesome. Food samples & live music while you shop. Grocery well stocked. New Starbucks in store is cool. Employees are very helpful and friendly.

Very disappointed in bakery products at Powell Rd location Used to be my go to bakery for everything. Breads and baked goods are usually stale. Picked out an almond chicken premade sandwich packaged on November 30,2022 and bought on same day. Bun was hard as a rock. I purposely checked packaged date on every sandwich to ensure it was fresh. I’ve been meaning to send a review for the past year because Walmart actually has fresher baked goods. So disappointed and won’t waste my money anymore. WHAT HAPPENED?

Giant eagle, I have personally called this store to thank management before. Today was an absolute nightmare in your store. Check out was sooooooo long and your new bag policy is ridiculous. I get it but you are a retailer. Do better. Let alone cashier was rude and unaccountable. Really disappointed.

On the morning of 10/10/2022 our "nephew" received notification he had passed his final exam for his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. At 3: 30 PM I called the bakery at Giant Eagle and spoke with Marge in the hopes I could get some kind of graduation cake in the middle of October. Marge explained they were unable to make a cake that would be ready before dinner, but had a cake already made that she could make work. Marge dug up some graduation decorations and worked with the cake decorator to add a congratulatory message to the top of the cake and I picked it up on my way to a restaurant. The one-eighth white sheet cake with buttercream icing was excellent! A BIG THANK YOU to Marge, and the entire bakery staff at Giant Eagle! Very well done! Very professional! Thank you.

Giant Eagle consistently has the best produce, and the Fuel Perks program can't be beat. On top of all that, there are always more than enough full and self service checkouts that you won't be delayed. I almost forgot, if you have a G. E.card self-scanning is a great choice because you scan and bag as you shop, then go to a self scan register. At that machine you scan the machine, return the scanner and pay, all without a wait. One caveat, it can get slow if you are scanning 20 of the same item. After a couple of scans the system can lag to as long as 3 or 4 seconds before it is ready to scan the next item.
