Glasshouse Works reviews
5Placed an order and was charged. No plants and no replies to my queries. Bad
This is a terrible company, do not order, I ordered, they took my money and I got nothing, they are crooks, I tried calling multiple times, they just ignore their calls, they should be put out of business
Returning customer. Ordered & sent payment. After 9 weeks emailed politely requesting update on order. No response. Over several days refused to answer any calls to telephone number posted on website. Four more emails sent requesting update on order over the following 8 days. Emailed on a Thursday, those 8 days included the following full business days when the site says they deign to answer calls: "current office hours are Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Satuday 11am to 3pm for taking calls. " No response. Finally deciding to cancel my order, I find the order is canceled already. Months of waiting, hours of my time asking for communication, and NO effort by seller to take even a few seconds to respond to an email. Waited so long I forgot I had ordered some of the plants and wound up ordering same items from other sellers. I have received them several weeks ago, and they are all thriving. Meanwhile all I've received from Glasshouse Works is confirmation of my order moments after I placed it. My order total was $198. +, so you you want to order from this failure and expect any kind of acknowledgement, maybe you have to spend more to be worth a reply?
The price can't be beat and they actually shipped very quickly, but the packaging and attention to detail is lacking. They were very lightly wrapped in newspaper and tossed into a box with more newspaper - I appreciate that this is more sustainable than polyfil, but the way it's deployed is not effective. Dirt everywhere except in the pots and I found quite a few critters in the soil. The opuntia I ordered was either mislabeled or substituted without any communication and isn't a plant that I want. I also ordered epiphylum chrysocardium or fern leaf cactus, which was advertised as "generous unrooted cuttings in moss"; I received a single unrooted cutting that looks like a standard ric rac cactus. I'll have grow this one out a bit to be sure, but suffice to say I'm quite disappointed with the overall experience. The rest of the plants will be OK with some rehab from the tough shipping conditions. If you're willing to take a gamble you may end up getting lots of uncommon plants for a steal, but you also might get mislabeled or randomly substituted plants.
