Helms Old Fashion Barber Shop reviews
16So, I had a really bad haircut here and I wanted to share my experience. First off, I think the owner and the workers here are very personable and nice. My hair was cut by the owner Ryan Helms and I can't speak to how the other employees are. I thought I gave pretty detailed instructions on how I wanted my hair to be cut - I even told him that I wanted to leave some weight on the back of my head because I like the way that it shapes my head. So, he used clippers for literally everything - even the top of my head, which I thought was a very strange choice. Usually, you would think they would use clippers on the side for a fade and then scissors on top. But this haircut came out really bad. The sides were uneven and I had to touch them up at home. The top, being cut with clippers, was also uneven and not blended very well with the fade. And then, to add the cherry on top, the guy told me that he cut the back part of my head and he thought it was strange that the previous person left it like that. I mean, I LITERALLY TOLD HIM to leave the weight in the back because that's how I like it. And he simply ignored me. Again, I think the people here are nice but. I cannot recommend this place due to the fact that your instructions might be blatantly ignored.
I brought my boyfriends son to get his haircut. His appointment was at 4: 30, we showed up 15 to 20 minutes before his appointment, some guy walks in and the barber takes him before my boyfriends son (the barber is apparently running behind) He didn’t start his hair until 5: 05, he’s been talking a lot, walking away, on his phone texting a lot. I do not recommend this place. My boyfriends son was getting very impatient because he was super excited about getting his haircut but the barber kept taking forever.
Got stuck with a un even high and tight haircut. Unfortunately the owner was unwilling to fix it up on the day of my family photos. Was willing to do it on a Tuesday but that’s a little to late.
Will not be returning
The best of the best! Cool vibe in the shop, good jazz playing. I love the old fashioned shaves, makes me feel like a million bucks!
Unsure of the name, however the older man who works here should probably retire. I asked for an undercut and he did what I could only descrive as an Amish bowl cut. Out of touch, I will either be asking for someone else or going someone else. This isn't the first time my cut was botched by this guy.
This was an awesome experience in Ohio treated me with respect awesome conversation deffinetly recommend the glf ask for it he got u lol
Appointment made for 2pm. Stylest was running behind but owner stepped up and cut my hair.
You won't find a better place for a great haircut, shave, pampering and good conversation! These folks are busy every hour that they're open, many times with three chairs being worked! Hands down a great place to go in Wooster.
They did a great job on my haircut! The barbershop has an old fashioned feel to it! They use hot towels and save your beard and neck! Made me feel relaxed. And pampered me up real nice! Definitely need to check out this place!
This is, without a doubt the very best barber I've been to. It's a small shop where everyone chats and tells stories about what's going on. I don't say much because I like to listen. As a veteran, I'm also happy that he honors the Military, the Police, and the Firemen. He has nearly a wall full of badges, etc.
Oh, and most importantly. He does a great job cutting hair. And, he's a super nice man.
He loves his boy and talks a lot about him and seems very proud of him.
Overall. I'd give this business 10 stars if I could.
The staff are always friendly. The haircuts and beard trimmer are fantastic. I always feel like a million bucks when I step out of the shop!
Beyond irritating! Went in for a haircut and to have my beard trimmed just a little bit so I asked for a skin fade and got a basic trim okay whatever I’ll deal, then showed a picture of how I get my beard trimmed just a simple faded goatee that fades from the the jawline and drops to a point on my chin dude even asked after giving me the “trim” to see the beard pic again (okay cool, he wants to do it right) and says ok got it! Now some people who grow beards take pride in it for the most part at least I do.dude took 2” off and completely rounded it out and of course I don’t realize this until he turns me towards the mirror and it’s to late.
I've not had a bad experience here. I've been going for about 6 years now and every haircut has been worth the time and money. Plus it's got a neighborhood hang out feel whether you're an old hat or new you always feel included.
I discovered this place years ago and is the only place I get my hair cut. Ryan is awesome and his other barbers are cool also. They do a great job.
For 30 years I have never went to a barber I want the Helms one time and that's my new favorite Barber they're very polite and professional if you want a good atmosphere while getting your haircut checkout Helms
As always excellent service! Ryan has always went above and beyond for his customers! These trying times make things very hard on small business, especially something so personal and close as a haircut so make sure you get out and support them. As far as barbers goes Helms always has been and continues to be my first choice!
