Hometeam Properties reviews
16Horrible. They don't care about you, they care about your money. You're just a number to them, and they'll do anything in their power to get as much cash from you by the time your lease is up. Rent from anywhere but here.
Horrible, operates business in a way that they can take as much extra money from you as possible. Professional scammers of university housing.
Plenty of experiencing renting university apartments for my children. HomeTeam has horrible. Many better choices out there.
BEYOND HORRIBLE. We have gone without hot water more times than I can count. We spent an extended period without heat this winter. AC unit filled with black mold. Maintenance routinely takes no less than a month to respond to issues. If a Hometeam unit was the last available place for me to live in Columbus, I would uproot my life and start over in another city instead. I do not recommend.
Absolute abhorrent property renting company. These have no regard for those renting from them. There main goal is to take as much from the renter as they can. The property I rented was left to me in an abysmal state after being advertised as a “premium” living experience. They refused to clean the unit themselves and argued that it was dirty since I moved in a three days early. I would avoid this company and their properties at all cost, they are by far the worst group in Columbus.
I promise, anywhere else will be better to lease from. Don’t give in to their replies to these reviews. B. S.
If I could give them 0 stars I would. Where to start? My roommates and I moved into a hometeam unit in August of 2022 after being warned by PLENTY of people to never lease with Hometeam. We still did. On move-in day, we had no functioning A/C… after many requests sent to maintenance, the issue was solved late September, early October. Once the weather got a lot colder, we tried turning on our furnace. Didn’t work. Sent (again) PLENTY of requests to maintenance, and after a week we got heat functioning heat in our unit. Although it was faster for the heat to function in our apartment, it never properly distributed throughout our apartment and it took me calling hometeam 5+ times for another person to come out, still didn’t fix the issue.
They add random charges to the account all the time, one time our unit was given a EVICTION NOTICE because of unpaid bills, that we went into the office for…. Turns out they “mistakenly” added them, an employee told us to just “ignore” the issue… how are you supposed to “ignore” an eviction notice?
We got our security deposit back… and LOL. We did everything we could to leave that place cleaner than we found it, because we knew that they would try to find some ways to get as much money as possible. We had over $500 of cleaning fees, random water bills from MONTHS ago, and air filter replacement fees… $850/$2500 we got back. Hometeam properties are moochers, they want your money and they don’t want to spend their own. They’re ridiculous and I will continue to advise people to never rent from them, EVER.
Easily one of the worst leasing options I’ve ever had to endure while going to OSU. My studio apartment was falling apart the day I moved in, appliances were from the 50s, maintenance was not great, random charges were added to your account. DO NOT LEASE FROM HOMETEAM
Do not rent from Hometeam. They gave us a damaged and dirty apartment, we noted all the damage upon move in like they asked, and they still only gave us $40 of our deposit back. The only legitimate charge on the list is $25 to replace a ceiling tile that got water damage that was our fault. They charged us for blinds and a window that were already broken and $500 for cleaning when they gave the apartment to us with rotting food in the fridge, a bathtub that looks like it came from a crime scene, peeling floor tiles, etc. I cannot stress enough that we left that apartment much nicer than they gave it to us. They’ve stolen over $1200 from me and my roommate to fix damages that existed before we got there!
Home team is the biggest scam in Columbus they will charge you full months rent even if your move in day is on the 19th, they will try to charge you over $700 for a parking space that is attached to your home, they will not respond to maintenance requests and the houses that they sell are very cheaply patched up.
Rented from them for 2 years.i would not recommend.we had maintenance requests that were never answered after many months.when they finally decided to come they would only come on breaks with no notice and repetitively set off our security system.they would charge us random fees if there was any trash at all even one piece that blew in from another yard…
They have made my experience living in their properties about as horrible as I can even imagine. They are impossible to deal with, play dumb all the time, shut their phones down during the most important weeks of the semester, and are extremely slow at solving anything. I cannot recommend staying away from this joke of an company enough. Never in my life have I had to deal with a more painstaking company in my existence. Being stuck in a lease with these guys is something I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy.
I moved into one of Hometeam Properties August 1. That day we were given a set of keys but when we got to the property were immediately asked to hand over all of our keys to a maintenance worker so that they could change the locks to prevent past tenants from getting in. This was fine at the moment, however we still have not received a mailbox key. I filed a maintenance request August 9 to obtain a key. They still had not came after a week so I called the office and they told me to come and grab the key they had on file. The key they had on file did not work for the mailbox so I returned the next day. All they told me was to file a maintenance request which I had already done previously. It has now been over 3 weeks without being able to receive mail. I have checks I am supposed to receive in the mail but am not able to access. My roommates went into the hometeam office today, August 24, to ask about getting another key in which they replied we did not have a maintenance request and would need to file another one. I can see the request filed in my portal but yet again had to file an additional one. It has already been very disorganized and it looks like I will go the whole month of August without access to mail.
Hometeam is literally the hardest rental company I have ever had to work with! They don't have enough employees, they don't respond to maintenance requests, they overcharge for rent and take months to correct charges. But they are still able to overcharge you for late fees in two seconds! Their rental properties are dumps. They gave away parking spots that they already sold to occupants and then had the occupants cars towed! This place is a mess literally a mess you couldn't give me $1 million to rent from them again. BEWARE!
Nico with leasing and Jessica N.with marketing have been wonderful to me. While moving into your first apartment is stressful and raises lots of questions, they put my mind to ease with their quick responses and knowledge. Hometeam Properties should be very proud of these two!
Care for your home with this company, this is how they deliver the home to their new tenants.
Hometeam Properties is the WORST. Over the course of the past two years, we have had a handful of issues (rats, a fly infestation, incorrect charges placed onto our account, etc). They are impossible to communicate with and they absoluetly take advantage of college students. Not to mention, they are very unprofessional, which is evident when you read their passive aggressive responses to other reviews. That being said, we still managed to make many amazing memories in our house, and there were a handful of maintenance employees who were generally very helpful and nice. However, if you can, I would recommend renting from another company.
