J. Gilbert's Wood Fired Steaks & Seafood Columbus

This was our first visit to J. Gilbert's and we were really looking forward to an upscale date night. Upon entrance, the woman working the front desk didn't speak, didn't smile, didn't make eye contact - I walked up, said hi, gave her our name and reservation time, she printed out a ticket, handed it to someone and didn't utter a word- she looked positively miserable. I honestly don't think this has ever happened anywhere we've ever dined - the hostesses at Bob Evans have better manners. Oh and I knew she wasn't smiling cause she wasn't wearing a mask, even though both Worthington and Columbus have a mask mandate. My bourbon cocktail was chock full of crushed ice - like the kind they put in McDonalds drinks - and the drink was clear - um, shouldn't a bourbon drink have at least a little brown? When the waiter asked if I wanted another, I said no and told him why and to his credit, he did bring me a complimentary glass of wine. I ordered the filet and crab cake combo - crab cake was very good, filet was just ok, au gratin potatoes were very good, brussel sprouts were so hard they were inedible. My husband's sirloin was flavorless and the rest of his meal was nothing special. I hate to write a bad review of a local restaurant, but for the prices they charge, this place really left us disappointed. To spend over $100 on dinner for 2, I want it to be more than just "eh", and I'd at least like a greeting at the door. We will not return and I would not recommend.

Went here to celebrate our wedding engagement! The server was amazing at taking care of us and the food was delicious! We will definitely be back, pretty expensive but 100% worth it!

My meal was great, however my guest had issue with her meal, overcooked shrimp. The manager was nice enough to credit her meal. Going forward maybe the manager can do a quality check before the meal goes to the table.

My fiance and I were playing pool at the Ruckmoor Tavern on a Friday and decided to go to J Gilbert for dinner. What a fantastic experience! That night we ordered the ribs and split them. They were amazing. The sourdough bread with pastrami butter was to die for, and our waiter, Andreas suggested a wonderful Cabernet. Andreas and the experience was so wonderful we decided to return on Saturday which proved to be another great experience. We ordered the same wine, a crab cake appetizer, and Waygu burgers, and requested to be seated in Andreas's section. Near perfection!

Really was excited about the food based on reviews and the food is great but had 8: 30 pm reservations got seated almost 9 and food almost 10pm just to be served cold food needless to say our bill was compt. And they were out of 100 bucks hopefully they do better

I'm sorry to have to write this review. We ate there last night and had a bad experience. Our reservation was for 5pm. We were the first seated in the dining room. We watched other tables fill up in the room. People started receiving their meals and even finishing them and leaving. Our waiter was nice but didn't check in so we couldn't ask him what the issue was. We got our meals at 6: 20pm. The waiter said a burner was turned off which is why the food took so long. My filet was well done, not medium as requested. My daughter's chicken tenders were burnt. My husband's food was fine, but the crab cake was missing the sauce. The food just wasn't worth it. Waiter was nice though and ambiance is lovely.

Atmosphere and server were good. Food quality was so poor. Wilted lettuce, overcooked meat, dry mashed potatoes. It’s so disappointing when you spend that much money on terrible food.

The food, cocktails and hospitality at J. Gilbert's is outstanding. We have known some of the staff for years.

The menu has remained the same since we dined there over the years. The bar has a different menu than the dinning room.

The atmosphere is comforting with low lighting and fireplaces.

It is expensive.

Today was my first experience at this restaurant. The reviews online about the food were amazing, so I thought I should try it for myself. From the moment I walked into the restaurant, the blonde lady at the front desk I was beyond rude. I was not acknowledged when I arrived and she stared at me. I had to initiate the conversation. When she did speak she was condescending. I will not be coming back and i will take my business elsewhere and will recommend that my colleagues/ family do the same. Hire better employees that are nice and enjoying working at your business.

This is my favorite steakhouse in Columbus. Excellent service, never a disappointing dish and perfect ambiance. The staff has over the years, never faltered in their professionalism and it remains our go to date night and celebration spot. Excellent happy hour in the bar, too. I'm never a big fan of bread service, but their fresh sourdough with pastrami butter is simply indulgent.

Our time this time was just not good. The wait staff was not friendly at all. Our waiter honestly was rude, he kept grabbing things off of our table mid conversation (like wrappers, reaching over our food), didn't really care at all. We felt like we were an inconvenience and it made the whole dinner awkward. As expensive as the meal is, I expect to at least be treated decent. I wanted to get dessert but as awkward as we were made to feel, I didn't and we paid and left. It's sad we were there in March for my birthday and the waitress then was nice, but I think the majority of the wait staff now just does not care. We clearly weren't the only ones frustrated either.

Amazing steak, it will melt in your mouth. I am a big fan of The Top and J Gilbert's is just as good. The wedge salad was fresh and the blue cheese was aged perfectly. The Yukon potatoes were spectacular. Best crab cake I've had in a long time. Just be careful if you have a birthday coupon, they do not allow Saturdays for that.

J. Gilbert’s is the place to be! Dinner is delicious. We had the flavorful Oscar filet, The Lobster tail with lump crab cakes. If you’re in the Worthington area it’s worth the trip. Nice atmosphere and Jackson was very helpful.

After a lost reservation for 11 with family coming in from 4 different states to celebrate my parents 61st wedding anniversary the manager made it happen. Our server Nicole went above and beyond, she made it so special for our family. Thank you!

While the food was excellent I was very disappointed in their beer selection (gas stations have better selection) and while all the tables around us seemed to be receiving bread before the meal, we were never offered any. My steak was perfectly cooked and even the vegetables had great taste.

Would not suggest getting take out, we live 5 minutes away and food was warm not even close to being hot. The cake for 10.50 was very small. The salad was full of stalks. Plus when I got there I had to wait because it was like the order was forgotten. Anyway it may be nice to sit inside but my takeout order was not good.

I had to put a new post up due to 2 VERY BAD experiences with J. Gilbert's. Took my wife here for her B-day and invited a few friends and some family. The service was terrible, the server did not know what the specials were, the food was late, cold and not the portions we have had prior. My father in-law ordered a salmon dinner, rare to med rare, all the other guest were served and my father in-laws dinner did not come out with the rest. Finally the server came back and we asked where his dinner was, please note we had all eaten our meals at this point, he said he would check on it. After about 15 minutes the salmon was way over cooked, we just asked for a box and went home, VERY, VERY DISAPPOINTED. I even contacted them on their web page about this, but heard nothing, suggestion GO ELSEWHERE.

AFTER HAVING A SMALL ISSUE, WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE A BIG ISSUE, WITH OCEAN CLUB, MY WIFE AND I FOUND J. GILBERT'S. WE HAD ONE OF THE BEST DINNERS THERE. WE ALSO CELEBRATED HER BIRTHDAY AND THE SERVICE, ALONG WITH THE FOOD, WAS WITHOUT A DOUBT PERFECT. THE FOOD, DRINKS AND THE PRICE REALLY SMOKE THE OCEAN CLUB. WE ARE GOING TO BE HEADING BACK TO ENJOY THIS AWESOME RESTAURANT AND WE HOPE THAT OUR DEAR FRIENDS WILL JOIN US SO THEY TOO MAY EXPERIENCE THIS DELIGHTFUL PLACE.

The service was superb as always, what's nice is the waitress always remembers what we order to drink & our appetizers! So when we make reservations and ask for Karolina (if you want the best dining experience, you simply ask for her.) As we always do, our drinks and appetizers are coming out just as we are sitting down!
Our main course is cooked exactly as we like it & our check is brought promptly so we can move forward with our night!
But Karolina and the entire JG staff always provide such a wonderful and relaxing experience to all the guests, knowing most by name, but it's something to look forward to! You won't be disappointed, especially if you're lucky enough to be sat in Karolinas section!
