Jack & Benny's Old North Diner reviews
19Homey, old-fashioned diner. I love the staff. This place is unpretentious, and I love that.
They no longer accept cash as payment which I think is absolutely ridiculous. Food isn’t good enough to be this extra. Won’t be supporting any business who declines cash.
SCAM ALERT! The food was very good for a greasy spoon type restaurant. There were 6 of us and the bill they gave us was $136. They would not let us separate the bill and no cash. I knew that mine was the most expensive meal. So we got a menu and checked it out, and it came to 104. We asked if the tip was included, and she said no. So we asked her to figure it out because we didn't think it was that much. We definitely would have left the $32 tip, maybe even more. Because everything was fine until this part of our visit. She would have gotten 70 extra if we didn't check it out.
Love the vibe and hometown feel. Food is diner classic but pretty generic. Canned food and less seasoned than you want. But the service was spot on attentive and warm.
The entrance needs marked better. Tried to go in the door, they don't want you to use that door. I was waved away from the door, and no explanation of where to enter. I didn't know anything about the place. I won't go back, their rude.
Been coming since I was a kid and it’s been amazing every time. Best breakfast in the city by far. The service is great and the atmosphere is as well. Jack and Benny’s a Columbus institution, they’ll always be my favorite.
Well, howdy there, partner! I recently stopped by Jack & Benny's Old North Diner and it was a breakfast lover's dream. The menu had a great selection of classic breakfast dishes with some unique twists. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with a classic diner feel. But what really made the experience memorable was the quality of service - friendly and attentive staff who made sure every customer was taken care of. Highly recommend for a delicious breakfast in Columbus!
Continues to be a delicious diner. The breakfast options are mastery of the classics. The French toast is delightful. Second time going, but far fewer people this time around. Maybe because it was summer (college is out) or maybe because the prices aren't quite as low as they used to be? Either way, a staple worth the try.
Good greasy-spoon type dinner. The Gut Buster could've been seasoned stronger, but still hit the spot. They only take credit and don't split bills!
First time here! Came in on a Friday, late morning. Service was quick and friendly! Food was DELICIOUS! Pancakes and Western omelet is really good
Jack & Benny's has long been a staple of mine. While I don't live in Columbus anymore, I usually come here when I visit. When I did live here I was a regular. It's classic. It's trustworthy. It's solid. It's affordable. It's iconic. It's definitely changed some over the last couple of years, but their pancakes are still some of the best in town.
A great little, high paced diner. The food was delicious and fresh. Every person working was hustling to make our experience great!
They will not take two checks (two cards, two separate individuals from same booth.
Yet when we said we can't pay for the others breakfast, the waitress had ro take two credit cards to pay for each person's drinks! Never go to this place with friends.
No cash payments, only credit or debit unless you come in with someone else, then you can only use one credit card for for each booth you sit in.
Worst place I've been to in many years. Rude and behind the times.
Finally decided I won’t be coming here anymore. The woman who is the owner or manager is very rude and always treats me and my husband so rude. At first I thought it was just me and that’s why we continued to go. But I realized that I wasn’t just in my head. Have you ever heard of minorities hating other minorities? Well, it’s a very real thing and this woman is very rude and degrading to other minorities (especially latinos). We felt it but brushed it off when clearly we could see how she talked and served other non minorities. Then finally I saw her treat another minority (Latino) very rude and basically kicked him out not even 5 minutes after finishing his food but there was that other table that was finished with their food way before. Finally I had enough when I still had half a pancake I was still eating and she grabs it along with other empty dishes on the table and takes it and half way asks me if I wanted a box. Very rude! I always left very great tips for all the servers. This is only service from that woman (owner/manager) everyone else is very nice. Still never going back because I don’t support people who discriminate other people.
Family owned, family staffed diner with classic breakfast foods, and a laid back, old school vibe! Closes at 3PM!
Terrible food. Terrible service. The waitress tried to run me off after I ate so someone else could have my seat. They have a weird checkout system. You have to go back to the entrance to pay instead of paying for your table. When I didn’t immediately understand where to go the waitress raised her voice at me. I won’t be back.
Birthday breakfast with my youngest son Cedric, Ava, and hubby.
Get up and get here before 3: 00 PM
You will have a wonderful, enjoyable delicious time.five out of five from me.
I ate here with someone and we ordered pancakes and when they came they were very bitter. I was very hungry, so I ate mine but the person I was with really didn't care for them. The pancakes really did have a bad flavor. We told the waitress who took his plate away and charged us for both meals anyway. She said that they tasted normal. She tasted the food off of his plate, which I thought was pretty weird. I mean who does that? I paid for the food and we left but we won't be returning.
Small breakfast joint diner style. Old building, but great food. Reasonably priced as well.the fresh made orange juice machine was neat too.
