Jacob's Meats, Defiance OH

They have absolutely the best meat and great pricing in the area. The only place I shop for all of our beef, pork, and chicken products. Absolutely the best customer service. Love the place.

I've always been fond of this shop until today. I went in to buy two packages of brats and the woman helping us was trying to separate the two packages as the were frozen together and then started banging them on the floor to separate them. Banging them on a butcher shop floor.

I then asked her if she really just banged our food on the floor and she got very defensive. Then proceeded to treat us very rudely.

If this is something that is OK, and apparently it is as there was a man standing there watching the whole thing who said nothing (dark hair, mustache and hat) who clearly was in charge there, then imagine what flies when the customer is not there.

First time shopper here. I loved it! The people are friendly and helpful. The meat is fresh and the prices are the best in town.

I don’t understand the rest of these reviews. The smell in there made me vomit when I was pregnant. I go there sometimes bc I live near by but the meat looks stale esp the filet mignon and there are NO use by dates. They claim they only need to label vacuum sealed meat but when I purchased a sealed pork loin the other day there was no date and smelled like feces after TWO DAYS! When I asked for a refund on a Friday the owner told me to bring back the meat, which I obviously discarded, on Monday. Really? When I told him I’m not digging through the trash for rotten meat I never heard a thing back. No I’m sorry, no can I offer u a refund or store credit? And the prices are higher than the grocery stores who NEVER ask me to bring in rotten food and give me a refund with no problems.

Wonderful selection of meats at a great price! They also have a lot of other foods like cheese, snacks, and sauces.

A local gem. If you're looking for a good cut of meat this is a good place to go. They have a great selection of fresh poultry, beef, and pork. They also have a good frozen meat selection. I've had meat processed here too. Prices are reasonable and the staff are helpful. Tell them what you're looking for and they will help you out.

Great service and everything is fresh I would recommend anyone that loves fresh meat go there

Don't buy till you read this first!
First time at a butcher/meat store and I wasn't expecting such a lack of sanitation and horrible raw food handling. I saw 2 of the workers helping customers with orders by packaging their meat items without wearing food gloves! And the one lady even went back to the walk in freezer after touching the raw meats without washing her hands in between. This made my stomach turn over and is definitely not sanitary and there was a lot of cross contamination going on. They sell other cooked products too and if they've got all that raw food being spread around so easily I wouldn't be surprised if people were getting sick. And don't tell me that's normal for a butcher/meat store because I've contacted other stores and they don't do that when handling raw product. Even McDonald's has better food handling and sanitation methods! Not to mention they weren't following the max limit of 4 people at a time due to COVID and I had my baby boy in there who can't wear a mask. Definitely don't recommend and will NEVER go back!

Fresh meat, fantastic customer service, and friendly staff. Their prices are easily as good as and often better than local groceries. Do yourself a favor. Stop at Jacob's.

Nice place and nice people. Meats are very good, but we did notice that the price per lb for t bones was almost $4 less at Ft Defiance Meats on the same day.

I had my deer turned to summer sausage. They seasoned it perfect and the add ins were a perfect ratio.
